Hello! I’m the crazy girl who wrapped you and my Ellsworth Shaw at wool and folk! My name is liz I live in Connecticut and it was so fun to hear you talk about it! But in all seriousness, the Elmer is so soft it gives such a beautiful way to that shawl. I’ve made several things in Elmer and it doesn’t pill. It’s incredible! I also do yoga, but I don’t think I could do the KAL.😂😂😂 thanks for doing the podcast. I love seeing your ideas, very inspiring!

Jackie, we can definitely see the experience on the Astrid pullover. It striked me as the most luxurious piece you ever knitted, not in terms of money, but love and attention to the quality, the magic of the fiber and the fit. SO many more things to say, but you say it all, girls. This podcast deserves a full academic study. Love this so much ❤

"Move the point to the front, move the point, a little, no, yes, back - you got it!" Jackie - you've made me want to knit the Travelers Shawl now after modeling how many ways you can wear it, and they all look so good - yes please! Both of your Twigs continue to be stunning; I cannot wait to see how your Astrid comes out in that gorgeous yarn Jackie. ❤ love the ebb and flow of your sharing. The puppies mirror your opening excitement then all flow into the rhythm as you journey along. I love that and am drawn in by it. Near the close you touched on knitting as a meditative activity - so true for me - yet not all meditation is the same for me. Knitting is an emergent meditation, sometimes also immersive but truly a space-creating meditation that invites expansion, growth, possibilities otherwise unknown. So appreciate your openness to knitting as an expanding pathway for being.

Julie, I have read this 5,6,7 times and continue to be in awe of your eloquence with words. Couldn’t agree more and grateful that you’ve not only made my inner experience manifest but are sharing in it with me! Thank You!!! ❤❤❤
@knittingagoodyarnpodcast57658 ай бұрын
Omg when I first read this comment I knew I needed to savour it! And now I come back to respond and see that Jackie even responded to it in the interim. This was so beautifully en pointe and so intoxicatingly thought-provoking. I have a belief that creative process is a co-creation of the humans involved plus an extra force/entity that joins to manifest art. When I read your words, I felt like you not only see things similarly, but that you’ve even expanded it furthermore to show me how, not only does our podcast unveil itself as we sit there and are open to the offerings, but even our dogs are in on the orchestration. There is such wisdom that exists beyond even the person/people that are “doing the creating.” I have always loved the study of literature, but I remember times, analyzing a novel and the ways everything dovetailed so perfectly together, and thinking, “no way did this author plan all of this.” And in this moment, writing this now, I realize that it’s true. That author had ideas and plans but the absolute impact and power and beauty of the novel any author writes is actually outside of them. The interaction between the human and the other forces involved means that the final product is just soooo much better than any human could have ever planned. And here you are showing me the same thing with Jackie’s and my creation. We do things but we don’t plan any of this. Haha we obv don’t tell our dogs when to bark or when to quiet down. But we have also never discussed this fascinating idea of knitting as an emergent vs immersive meditation. And yet you have language for this and can read something in what we create that is beyond any intention we ever had consciously. I think that is just beyond incredible and joyful and affirming and just solidifies my belief that we don’t need to know what we’re doing at any given time, we just have to act with love and the rest will take care of itself. Thank you for the blissful, peaceful, hopeful state you have just created in my body right now! ♥️♥️♥️

@@knittingagoodyarnpodcast5765 beautifully woven - thanks Carmen and Jackie 💕 So appreciated. I am continually amazed how being open on multimodal and multidimensional levels breathes in and allows for energy to perpetuate, evolve and create. Part of me is deeply pleased to have connected with you both. Another part of me is laughing with and at myself as part of what we do seeps into how we are with others - my roles as a researcher and professor of literature, culture and society mediate my ways of being whether I am “doing” that job or moving on to other things. so good to see you two again! congratulations on completing the training, Carmen! and i'm fascinated by the sweater no. 28, in part because you'd often said that you dislike ribbing (as do i), so HOW did you manage to make an entire sweater almost entirely of ribbing?!?! what secrets can you share for learning to like it enough? Also, it might be interesting to try the Aleks Byrd sweater using nutiden, as i've done roosimine-like floats in Teti Lutsak's Laneus patterns and it's totally smooth sailing to do...? And, i must be a weird knitting outlier, as i have yet to knit ANY patterns by Andrea Mowry. contemplating Birds of a Feather, but not there yet with the yarn choices.

p.s. small tip when trying stuff on that still has needles in -- one of my cats (George, who clearly has oral fixation issues) chewed up a silicone barber cord at some point into numerous smaller pieces (like 6-8" long, thereabouts), and it turns out they are GREAT to slide on to the ends of both needles when trying things on, functionally both closes the loop & makes the cable much longer. i use my cord scraps ALL THE TIME now -- thanks, George! (and re: dark brown sweaters, the yarn i'm currently contemplating for a MAYBE Twigs is mYak in chocolate... maybe)
