The dress is gorgeous! Thank you for showing the different stages in the process, I want to try doing a bit of cut and sew, but I'm a little nervous about running pieces of knitted fabric through my serger/overlocker in case it chews everything up! I think I will have to make some samples first.

Both informative and joy-inducing. It turned out so good. Hopefully at some point in my life I'll convert a William Morris pattern into a 2-4 color knitting pattern and make a glorious coat on my machine. Also, I lol'd at the Karen Puzzles timer and the spider (I assume) crawling across the floor at 19:55 ish and then changing it's mind less than 20 seconds later.

The best fabric marker pens I have ever used are crayola washable markers. I've ironed the fabric with the marks in place and it washed out with no issues. However, only use these markers if you know your fabric can go in the washing machine.

When i was searching for knitting warm socks. I've big veet and warm socks are not for sale in the right fabric and size. These knitting machines are expensive here in the Netherlands. I'm still searching and when I find one I will knit some sweaters.

I would love a machine like that but I get frustrated to easy. lol My husband is currently 3d printing me a sock knitting machine. its almost done! I am very excited. Also when you cut the fabric I cringed so bad! LOL so glad you had a serger to keep it from unraveling lol

Knitting doesn't really unravel when cut as long as the strands aren't pulled on too much or picked at.

Cute dress. Good Project. Two things. Maybe try thinner yarns for double bed knitting so it won't be a bath mat weight when finished. Second, I see you have a Passap linker to use with your Brother knitting machine. This linker is meant to be used with the Passap knitting machines that have a needle spacing of 5mm. This means when you are placing your knit stitches from a 4.5mm brother standard gauge knitting machine, you need to stretch the stitch loops a bit to get to the next stitch pin on the linker. Even with the Studio and Hague linkers you need to make sure you are getting the correct gauge linker model for your knitting machine. You can fudge the process in a pinch but it works so much better and smoother if the linker machine gauge matches the knitting machine needle spacing or aka gauge. This is especially true when knitting with a bulky machine that doubles the needle spacing from the standard gauge. Viewers and new machine knitters need to be aware of these small differences before making uninformed purchases. Machine knitting can be an expensive learning curve and investment.

This is just super cool. I have that exact linker!!!! I don't know how to use it!!! Actually, I have a Passap E6000 that I got for free from a person on Craigslist about four/five years ago now? Haven't done a thing with either. (got the linker from her as well) Maybe you might think about doing online classes, or a Patreon site and teach about machine knitting and the ancillary accoutrement? I'd join, and I don't sign up for things like that very often. ALSO!!! You sew!!! Very, very cool. Sewing is my main thing. Then handknitting. I am interested in machine knitting to be able to turn out pieces of fine gauge fabric, because they're too hard to knit by hand, I find. I don't know if the E-6000 does that, and when I began studying about how the machine works (on their KZbin videos) I got discouraged and gave up. I also have one of the Bond machines, I thought that it would be a pretty good place to just begin getting familiar with how knitting machines work, but haven't really done anything with either. Anyway, your work and expertise is phenomenal. And it was really fun hearing that your Mom helped out. Clearly, she knows about sewing. Grandma too. A nice legacy.

KZbin is being weird. I used to watch your channel, but I haven't had one of your videos appear in my feed for a year. The last video I saw from your channel was when you knitted the orange top that was part of a dress. I kept seeing videos from the Engineering Knits channel and I would remember your channel and wonder what happened to it, but I couldn't remember what it was called. Today you showed back up in my feed, and come to find out apparently nothing happened to your channel and I have a bunch of your videos to binge watch. This dress is awesome.

BTW the 4.5mm gauge of the Brother knitting machine along with the two color knitting per one row of knitted fabric makes this QR code dress possible, because of the lack of image distortion with this color change knitting system. This is not the case for some other machine models. 🤩 Just additional hints and information for those following your inspirations. Yarn size, and stitch size can also affect the row gauge and squaring the QR image results. Good first time QR code results.. The dbj style of knitting also stabilized the image from knit distortion. 🤩

I have Brother punchcard knitting machine (non-electronic) and the KR 850 ribber. In the ribber manual it has instruction on how to do double bed jacquard but I do not have a double bed color changer. My question is this: can double bed jacquard be done anyway without the color changer and I manually change the colors?
