Tip for the underarm holes! In the future, I always pick up many extra stitches along the underarm, enough to make sure there will be no holes, and then on your first round, do decreases like k2tog to get your stitch count back to the correct number !!

Hi kali. I love this. You girls (all three of you) have made some great crochet stuff, and I think you'll do great with knitting. Looking forward to your next project. Loved your first vest. Great colours in it.

@@eri__carr my first sweater didn’t fit, it was too short in the arms, I love this video because it taught me to just try and if the garment doesn’t fit, it’s ok the next one will because you learn by making mistakes but not trying because you don’t want to fail means that you can’t learn either. 🥰You can do it. I learned how to fix the sleeves and the sweater will be perfect afterwards.

@@eri__carr look up The Eden Sweater on KZbin by Wool and the Gang, it's done on straight needles and I knew after watching it that I could do it, even though I'd only made simple hats before! You just need to know how to knit 2 together and they show you how to do a left leaning decrease as well, it's literally all there! I've made 3 of them now! I didn't bother with mattress stitch for seaming, I was doing whip stitch on the inside, but now I recommend back stitch as it is much neater and much less lumpy. -if the Eden Sweater looks too hard for you, try the simple jumpers using only garter stitch (knit stitch on both sides) and no shaping.. The only thing is I find that boring to do, even though its dead simple, you knit 4 rectangles then sew them together, no need to even shape a neck!

I must be the only person who can't grasp knitting lol. I tried learning 10 years ago, and then I found crocheting. I picked up crocheting WAY faster than knitting and ran with it. I occasionally try knitting again but it's so difficult for me, especially since I'm out of practice. You and your sisters are making me want to finally conquer this impossible hobby, so I got a full set of straight needles and hope to get circular ones soon. Mark my words: I will learn. 😂
@knitwithkali3 жыл бұрын
Awww I'm happy to hear that you're going to try again! It is a bit difficult to grasp at first, but once you get the hang of it, it will be smooth sailing from there.

Love your videos, they're fun! Plus you are a brilliant knitter for a beginner, you catch on really fast! My first sweater I made about 2 months ago on straight needles was easy to knit but I cast on more stitches than the pattern required so it was FAR too wide! 😂 Also my seaming was not the best but I was still proud of it, it was a raglan sweater too 'The Eden Sweater' from Wool and the Gang, the video is on KZbin, before this I had only made half a dozen hats, thanks to the 'Sheep and Stitch' channel! I made my 2nd attempt of the raglan jumper about a month or 6 weeks ago and stuck strictly to the instructions (except I used bigger needles which I didn't need to lol 😂) but it turned out pretty good. Now I've just made my 3rd, in the same pattern, with not such chunky wool so I doubled it up but had problems making the decreased edges on the body and arms fitting together. I had to sew them the best I could. I decided to make the neck a folded or roll neck and I sewed it down afterwards to keep it in place. It's very wide but apparently that look is trendy? Anyway, I love it and it's my favourite sweater yet! I will unravel my first one and redo it. Now the weather is much warmer I can't really keep knitting sweaters but I really wanna make a nice button cowl with fringes round the sides, and some fingerless gloves, with this lovely discontinued variegated yarn that I bought! After that, I dunno!..!.. Definitely interested in crochet because of the dense fabrics and interesting stitches you can make!

I loveeeeeee my knits picks needles. For sure invest in more cords when you have the chance, and make sure if you don't get knit picks one they are compatible with the needles (I bought a cord I can't use on them 😭)

That's the reason why i'll buy a Set on Amazon with everything in it. It's expensive and that's the reason for me to wait and not having one now but it's worth it. I'm feeling really sorry for your problem :( that's really shitty. Was it expensive? Which Brand did you bought and will buy in Future? I mean needles and cords :)
@NamiNaeko3 жыл бұрын
@@janinetowara2502 I bought 2 of their kits on Amazon too but I needed another cord for a project and hoped it would work with them from another brand, it sadly didn't! I guess companies caught on and make the attachment joints different brand to brand so you can't as easily use just any cable

Great sweater! I'm knitting for 11 years now and i'm a beginner at all. Nobody could taught me how to knit the right side until Last week. That's what everyone learn First but I could only knit the left Site. Now I start my First sweater with normal right/left way to knit (don't know the english Name) and the First Time double stranding too with some Gray glitter. It's in four parts because I don't know the Things you need to know for knitting a sweater in one piece but i'm Happy anyway :) I don't wanna more then a sweater so at First I don't care If knit one in 4 pieces or in only one. I really Love your Videos (I'm a pro at crocheting which I learned at the same time as a Kid) and i wish my Sisters we're Not way to small for both or not interest in anything Like my a little bit smaller Brother. You're all three unique. Greetings Form Hamburg Germany!

Most sweaters have a little gap under the arm, so to counter that we normally pick up four or so stitches, and do decreases to take them away on that first round. There’s many videos on it I’m sure,. You did great.

My first sweater was the No Frills by Petite Knits. And it's my first knit project. I only half wish I chose a different pattern because it didnt really explain things. Its written as if it assumes you know certain terms. I had to watch a ton of KZbin to get through it. Maybe because I'm so used to how crochet patterns are written. I learned that first. I'm on my 2nd sweater now
@knitwithkali3 жыл бұрын
I feel like patterns aren't made to help teach you terms, but just to help you create a project. That's why it's always best to read through a pattern and research all the terms you don't know so that when you actually start it, you will have that knowledge.

Always take your measurements of your bust. I learned a hard lesson knitting my first garment that it doesn't go by clothes size. At the time I wore a size 3X and was 50 pounds heavier, when I finished the sweater it was too long on me it fit me more like a dress. Of course be careful alpaca has a lot of drape to it. Long story short I had to size downsize to large. It is a pattern by Marly Bird from the Red heart brand called The Big Comfy Sweater. Always invest in a good interchangeable knitting needle set to change out your cable size. My favorite brand is a Norwegian company called Lykke. I'm an experienced beginner of 10+ years. Enjoy the knitting experience.

This came out beautiful!!👍🏻 I crochet mainly, I can knit but I don’t enjoy it as much. I was wondering, do you knit continental since you’re a crocheter or do you throw your yarn? I’ve heard and I find that continental is much easier and more natural for me as a crocheter
@savannah2633 жыл бұрын
I have been crocheting for about 2 years and I tried to pick up knitting a couple times but I’m actually learning now. I don’t understand how people don’t knit continental! The other way seems so annoying and time consuming!
@knitwithkali3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! And there isn’t a specific way crocheters knit, no matter which way people say is easier. I English knit (throw my yarn) because I am left handed and I crochet with my yarn in my right hand. A lot of people say continental is easier, but it’s really just a preference that somehow everyone seems to have adopted as a thing crocheters do. Whichever comes natural and feels comfortable to you should be the only style of knitting that matters, regardless of what others recommend. ☺️
