I'm a very new knitter and I'm always surprised by how neat my cast-off row actually is😂 Why does it look so much better than my cast-on row (which always tends to be kind of loose and untidy)? I'm just doing a regular knit cast-on, have tried a cable but it was always too tight so I gave up. Do you have any advice? Thank you for your videos!

Hi Nina, if you watch some of the various cable cast-on videos I have, you’ll notice that once I’ve put each new stitch on the left needle, I put the right needle behind the stitch before tightening it. That prevents a tight cast-on. I get a loose knitted cast-on too, it’s the nature of how the stitches hold together and can differ between yarn thicknesses and fibres. That’s why I prefer the cable style. Happy knitting 🧶
