Great explanation of the positioning of "old" needle in relation to the other two. I was having trouble with the positioning of my working yarn and getting an extra stitch that was like a yarnover I guess. Watched about five or six videos, but you described this part BEST. THANK YOU!!!!

Thanks to Roxanne for this amazing video! I was losing it magic looping on a sweater sleeve last fall and this video gave me the nerve to swap to the dpns. And I'm so glad I did because I enjoy sock knitting so much more now than on cabled needles. Every video makes my knitting better and I'm just so grateful for your knowledge and generosity. You are the best teacher and set everyone who watches your vids up for success in their knitting! It's a beautiful thing!

You really are the best teacher.. I just watched 12 videos on how to not have ladders on dpn.. they all had tips but what I was looking for was the placement of that needle .. your the only one who explained the old needle has to be under the two when starting a new needle!! Thanks Roxanne you always make sure your videos include how and why it works!!!

Thank you SO much for this video! I have been knitting for 10 years or more and I've just found out I've been doing something wrong all these years, and that's why I always got little ladders. It's great to get back to basics sometimes, and it's wonderful to watch and learn the fundamentals of knitting from a pro. Thank you!

You asked specifically what it was that helped, and there was nothing in particular. It was just watching you do everything in a completely different way to how I learnt it, and in a way that just seems to make more sense. I wish I'd learnt these fundamentals from a professional to begin with.

I am never really comfortable using DPN’s... Thanks for the lesson... It was a help. Watched again... Still helpful. Even though I am not always comfortable with DPN’s, magic loop is worse for me. I have small hands, and it just never works right... I dislike bamboo needles or hooks of any kind. They are too grabby. Metal works best... I like ChaiGoo Red Lace, and Knitter’s Pride Zings. .

Thank you for your video! I knit from the back needle with the front needles dangling closest to me. Then I purl all my stitches with my 4th DPN from the inside, leaving stockinette stitch on the outside of the sock. I use Portuguese style knitting, so purls are faster and easier than knit stitches. The product is the same, the method is just a little different!

Love your videos but I don’t let my needles “dangle” I just continue to hold the casted on needles in my hand and then the needles with yarn doesn’t twist around.

I learned on dpns so that is my favorite way to knit small circumference projects in the round. I will be starting a new project that calls for 2 circs and I am so scared I’m going to mess something up! It’s a pretty intricate cable mitt pattern with multiple cable motifs and I don’t think it would work smoothly with dpns. So I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I need to learn this 2 circ method before I start my project. Any tips for success??

I’m just learning to knit but have found out that I prefer to knit both sleeves at the same time. I also prefer to knit them in the round until the under arm. Can this be done on “magic loop” whatever that is? Hope this doesn’t sound too crazy.
@RoxanneRichardson
@RoxanneRichardson Жыл бұрын
You can knit two at a time with Magic Loop or with the two circs method, whichever you prefer.

@7.51 I noticed that the thumb yarn is losing its twists as you cast on. This happens a lot as I'm knitting and I'm wondering if the yarn is losing its Integrity because the twist is coming out of the strands? Are the yarn is unwinding as I knit.

Oh, geez, let me see...Karbonz? I think? It was whatever they happened to have at the shop where I bought them, and it's not printed on the needles, themselves. They look like Karbonz, though.

hi Roxanne. During lockdown I decided to knit a sweater! woo hoo. Muddled as pattern says " when you have knitted 8 cm = 12 mds, continue in stockinette." What is mds mean?

If u are working with 5 double point needles u still can do ur decrease pattern, right?
@RoxanneRichardson
@RoxanneRichardson 4 жыл бұрын
You can always decrease as needed in the round, regardless of what technique you use for working in the round. It's easier to keep track of what you are doing when you have full multiples on each needle, but you don't have to have the same number of multiples on each needle, and you don't have to divide them up that way, either. If you can keep track of when to work a decrease, you can use as many or as few needles as you like. You may find that if you split up a multiple onto two needles, that you will have to start moving sts from one needle to the other in order to work a decrease.
