Very well presented. I think the only time an odd numbered loom was crucial for me was a triangle shaped project, but even then, I worked with an even number of pegs and marked my center peg to keep even stitches added to each side. Thanks so much for the great info!

I 've been crocheting for 45 years. I never learned to knit and I always loved the beautiful stitches that knitters make. I finally decided to learn how to loom knit. Many of the issues I have with the sizing of my hats, and fingerless gloves are due to the choice of stitches and loom guage. A lot of trial and error. I thank you for all the tips you can give. This is very helpful. Crocheting has always been my passion, but due to arthritis, I can't crochet fast enough to get projects done fast, like I used to. Loom knitting is not so hard on my hands and I can get a hat done in few hours. I will like to make an adult sweater, but I want to get better at it first. Thank you for sharing your knowlege.

First if all, I find your voice to be very calm. Now, I'm been teaching my daughters (ages 12 & 10) yarn craft (crochet & knit) We discovered the knit loom while on summer vacation 2017, soon after we discovered your KZbin channel. Your videos have been oh-so-very helpful. My daughters have made their own scarfs and caps using the information and techniques referenced in your videos . For the first time, they're super excited about winter so they can show off their work. Thank you so very much for sharing.

Thanks for all these very useful tips! I am just about to start loom knitting so these definitely answered a lot of questions in this beginner’s head! Especially with the shape of the loom, as the one I got was a 4-piece foldable and detachable 48-peg loom (12 pegs in each piece/side, so we can customise to 4 different sizes) that has no fixed shape to work on.

Thank you so much. I have started a group of seniors on loom knitting and wish I'd had this info to start. We make simple hats for cancer treatment centers and small hats for refugee children. I just bought a loom to make a simple scarf (also for refugees). Had no idea about knit and purl stitches. My hands don't function well, but I seem to be fine with loom work and grateful I can give service through doing it. I want to learn different patterns, etc., and will take it slow, but looking forward to it. Hopefully, I can help our group expand their horizons too. And to John: the husband of one of our members went absolutely crazy with hats and did learn other stitches. You guys are absolute champs!

Hello Denise. First let me say I am new to loom knitting and your videos are the very best I have watched. I would like to thank you. You have helped me develop some skills and have help me build confidence in my growing abilities. I have found that the topic of "trouble shooting" has not been covered very well on you tube by anyone, So I thought I would ask you if you could put together a video for us newbies that addresses some basic problem solving? For examples how do I count the rows, and how do I correct my work if i have my yarn fall off of a peg? It is more complicated than just putting it back on! There are often multiple loops. I have found myself after hours of work finding a hole and pulling things apart and starting again because I can't figure out how to correct my mistakes. I find it hard to identify the stiches. I know how to crochet and it is easy to pull several stiches out and resume without having to destroy the project. I think you can help us all learn to trouble shoot. If u already have posted this type of video please leave a link. Thanks in advance for your help and thanks again for posting your excellent videos.

Thank You Denise, I look forward each week to your new videos and posts. As I am not too new, I still struggle with some of that information. You cleared up some confusion that I was having about stitch size difference between E-wrap vs U knit stitch size. It seems my U knit stitches turn out so tight and it makes creating brims difficult
@LoomaHat7 жыл бұрын
Hey Juanita - the U should not be so tight - try making sure you bend the yarn til you get that U - the less bend around the peg in the yarn the tighter the stitch . It becomes a Flat stitch which can be crazy tight.

thanks for your basic intro to looms. I can see myself asking those questions but some of them are pretty much you would think common sense but you be surprised on how many of us might not think that so thank you. I am looking forward to more patterns from you and of course always love your stitches and how you convert them for us into loom knitting because they're gorgeous. if you remember when you did your resolution video I did suggest that maybe we knit a square a month and make a nice beautiful Afghan with all the different stitch patterns that you show us. I know there are sample out Afghan things out there videos what have you but your work is so clean precise and neat that I think an Afghan sampler done by you along with the rest of us that follow you would be outstanding we can even use the current stitches that you've done since you started and then maybe add some new ones if you want but I definitely think it should be a group thing. you have a big following so maybe put that out there and yes I noticed you listed me and my suggestion already on your page but I'd like to get the rest of the group involve to because then it makes that project worth doing cuz I know you're not just going to do it for me. yes I can do it just for me by following your stitches but it's really helpful when you have someone with your knowledge to guide us and selecting the yarn maybe using the same exact Loom consistently and then how to attach it all together I definitely think it's worth it. I can create an Afghan on my Afghan Loom but I think having a sampler one is even better and I'm not sure I really want to sit there with a hundred and ninety eight pegs and try to figure out how many pigs I have to use per square and it's going to take me forever to do that and then console a changing pattern over and over as I go around. based on how you described the way you work I don't think you would want to do that either you're probably saying Hell No as we speak

The fact that the particular style of Stich can vary the end result size is very useful info thank you so much! You have amazing tutorials ,I am considered using the largest with wool and shrink it to fit my grand daughter? Wool is my yarn of choice so 55 percent is an AVERAGE Shrinkage rate and keeping an eye on the end result as well,using the e wrap would probably be my best bet? As the u wrap is a smaller end result correct?

If I did 19 stitches on a 41 peg loom vs a 24 etc. I know some are a half inch and some are a little smaller and a little bigger. Would be fun to see what the 4 tips or stitches look like with the different spaces with worst yarn or double strand worst

Hi from Sweden! I am doing fingerless glove mittens right now. The brim is done and now I'm doing "the body". I'm knitting on this blue 24 pegs loom and want the spiralpatterrn because my hat is made in that pattern and I want them to match. How do I adjust the pattern for an even numbered loom (the pattern says 3 e-wrap, 2 purl)? And secondly, I wonder if you could make some videos on projects made on long looms. I recently received a package with 4 long loom in different sizes. Thanks for an amazing channel. I love your videos and you give so much inspiration. I started to loom a week before Christmas and have done 9 different beanies, 2 tube scarfs and now I'm working on doing this fingerless glove mittens. Take care! Xoxo Petra

Fab info, I bought a set of 3 round looms a few years ago but haven't used them much because I could never find any patterns apart from hats & scarves...so glad I found your channel recently :) wondering do you have or could you design a pattern for a tea cosy, different sizes would be great as teapots start from one or two cups upwards. Just read your 5 facts. . . so helpful! I am having trouble with something else. I hope it's ok to ask it here? Just finished a flat panel piece on a round loom. Cast it off and wow, it was all lopsided. The cast off and cast ones where wider than the middle part. I was floored. What happened? Why did this happen? Using acrylic yarn doing one row ewrap, next row purl stitch. I would love some feed back on this. Want to knit a baby afghan so I am practicing, but now maybe giving up, especially if the afghan might turn out lopsided too. Thank you for your help.

Love this! Please make a blanket video. In addition, I always struggle with turning the row..meaning do I skip the first and last peg on each row? Knit over? Then follow the stitch?

Blanket project coming at the end of this month. As for the slip stitch - that depends on the pattern designer. I like to slip only the first. End of next month I will better explain this.... stay tuned

Just received my sock loom from amazon. Sadly it’s got something disgusting on the bottom and sides of it. I’m assuming it’s a return they shipped me. Anyways, I’m happy to have found your channel so I can learn about using looms. Thanks!

How does the size of the peg affect the knitted item? If I use the correct amount of pegs is it ok to have a different size peg? Size of peg is not written on the loom. Also, how do I measure the distance between pegs? In between the pegs or from the top or from outside of one peg to the outside of the other peg? Thank you. Love your channel

After viewing your informative video the second time I do have a request. Can you do a video on which round loom fits what hat size? Like for adult vs. child/infant? You do a great job in presentation and would love to hear from you.

Thank you! This is very helpful. one thought/question that I had, that others may have is, does it make a difference which direction you work around the loom? (clockwise or counter clockwise)? I noticed in various videos that people go different directions and sometimes switch directions in the middle of a project. I have only made 2 hats. I made my very 1st project/hat by following your video with the ewrap with a brim. Thank you very much for your detailed video(s). Because of that video I am hooked and loving loom knitting.

For knitting in the round, you can work in either direction, whichever is your preference. Your direction preference can depend on whether you are a righty or lefty. I'm right handed and usually work clockwise. Some start working (a flat panel) in a particular direction based on which stitches they are using but it is up to you. You wouldn't change directions in the midst of a project, if working in the round, but you can certainly work a flat panel, by changing directions, even on a round loom.

Also... Here's something that might help you (it helped me to remember when I first started looming): when doing the e-wrap, if you are working clockwise around the loom, you will wrap the peg counter clockwise. If you are working counter clockwise around the loom, you wrap the peg clockwise.

Hi Emily - I would say unless the pattern designer indicates a particular direction the option is yours. I tend to knit like a left handed person although I'm right handed - makes it easier for me to video. Find your knitting groove and stay there unless the teacher tells you that you have to move. AND Thank YOU for the Thank you - I really appreciate it !

what are the differences between and oval, rectangular and round looms? Thanks Denise!
@tammyfaloon93347 жыл бұрын
thanks. I have previously finished the simple spiral hat with the 36 peg loom using the pattern on loomahat and youtube and it was difficult the first time. However I did get it do with the help from friends online too. My question: I was told I could use the 48 peg purple loom from cindwood crafts but the spiral would be backwards. I don't have 41 peg for an adult hat.

Tammy - use the pattern by Lisa that is posted on the page: www.loomahat.com/spiral-hat/

Thank you, again for all that you do! I have a question...I bought this small loom says its for a flower, it's got 12 pegs, I dont know why I bought it! it was 50% off thats why, Question, can it be used for anything other than a flower? Maybe baby leg warmers or something? Looks like base is 3" to 3 1/2. Before I return it...hope this makes sense!
