Megha, hun - let's not apologize for our WIPs 🤣 I started out last year with over 100 WIPs. With intention, I finished as many as I could by the end of the year & now I'm hovering around 40. But here's what I learned: for me, I have to feed the thing that sets me on fire, otherwise I'm not getting joy out of my craft. I cannot tell you the joy I felt when I finished the thigh high vintage legwarmers that had been stuffed in a bag for 25 years. I would not have felt that much joy if I had finished them when I started them in college 🤣 You do your thing, girl. We're here for it ❤

I so love your podcast, Megha! I usually find myself laughing out loud. When you said if having too many WIPs stresses you ( I paraphrase), this is not the podcast for you, I nearly choked! Laughing. Yes, yours is the podcast for me. You have found your people. And I also enjoy your stash enhancements. It's fun to see what goodies someone else has found. No yarn envy here. Keep sharing with us! 🙋🏾♀💜🧶

I have a similar ‘cast on style’. I tend to cast on a bunch of things then work through them as my heart desires. I think it’s just that it helps get it out of my head. Sometimes even just setting it up in the project bag is enough. Sometimes it’s a pattern that must be tried , sometimes yarn takes the lead. Love the red Librarian sweater, great color for you!🧶

I too ALWAYS have many wips on the go…..knitting and quilting…lol! No stress here, I just move along finishing at my own pace 😊. My sister owns a quilt store that I work at part time, so I am lucky enough to be able play with fabric often. Your quilt is beautiful and I applaud you for making it from start to finish yourself..so much work. Once I get the tops done I send them off to the local longarmer. My sister and I just started a quilting podcast if you would like to have a watch…Klares Korner quilts n more. Looking forward to seeing all your makes in 2023 😊

Thanks for sharing all your beautiful makes Megha ☺️ Congrats on your quilt sandwich! I think adding extra batting will work out fine but you might want to make a note about the composition and loft of the batting (wool/cotton/poly%, etc) that you used so that future you can match it perfectly.

I am a long time quilter and have messed up the batting many times! How is it I work SO HARD to get it right and still mess up. Here's what I did with sucess...I lay the strip of new batting, over lapping it about 3 inches over existing batting. Then, I cut through both in a wavy line and remove the ensuing extra batting. I find this helps there being a straight line where the new batting meets the existing batting. It has held up nicely over the years. I have been quilting for 38 years...that's a LOT of messing up! My first quilt was a King size hand cut as there weren't rotary cutters yet!!

Megha, I have been known to zigzag batting pieces together. I often use this “technique “ with smaller projects. I think as long as it is quilted, it should hold securely. I also think there is a type of “tape” that will join batting pieces. I think you’ll love the feel of your quilt when it is on your bed! I’m very interested in the librarian cardigan. I have 5 balls of the same yarn in a beige/pink. I would prefer to not steek. Will you put notes on ravelry? I know I would want it a little longer in length and smooth sleeve rather than puff. I’m interested in how your yarn quantity holds up. Thanks for a fun podcast that includes a peek into your creative mind! 😉

Such a lovely jumper you're wearing dear Megha! Wow what a colour! it's like the perfect autumnal tones. It's wonderful that you're excited to have your mom over and she's going to be so cozy in the cardigan. I hope she'll acclimatize without too many issues, just need to keep her hands and feet warm and tucked up! You're now making me want a red knit too 😄 oh and absolutely agree with you about silks; kashmiri silk sarees are actually woven very differently from south Indian silks and they are soooo cooling in the summer but with enough layers can also be insulating in the winter. Silk is one of those magic fibers. Oh and that pink yarn you held up towards the end is absolutely the most perfect Me-pink I've ever seen!! Once again, I'm just so awed by your knitting talent, you are by far the most incredible knitter I know. Good luck with finishing that special quilt. I hand pieced and hand quilted two large quilts for my two older girls the winter before last when I was pregnant and wow!! It was really hard on my hands. Take it slow and go a section at a time. It'll be finished exactly when it's meant to be. ❤️❤️ Sending love and hugs to you dear Megha!

Hello Another great podcast. Yay 🎉 for 2 finished wips. Thought I would share a trick with you when I feel overwhelmed with wips, both for knitting and for quilting. First, I prioritize my wips and queue for new projects. Then, I frog anything that I know will not get done. This seems to help with my motivation. For every new project, I finish a wip. That way, I try to make sure that every new project is finished and a wip is finished as well. This seems to work quite well for me and gives me an opportunity to start new things without feeling guilty. Hope this helps.

How did you train yourself to stop rowing out when you purl?
@skeinsofdreamsknits Жыл бұрын
I made a few projects which had extremely slow purl rows as I would pull the yarn to make sure it’s not a lose row. I made this a habit over time and now I don’t have rowing out issues. The fabric you see on screen with my red cardigan is not blocked.
