Finished objects:
Talvinen by caitlin hunter using biches & būches yarn( gifted) on 3.25 mm needles giving 26 sts, thus went up one size, knitting size 5 to get size 4 which has 12-15 cm positive ease for me.
-Baby sleeping/kicking bag in sandnes garn sunday held x3 on 4 mm needles from Penguino magazine from my grandmother.
Wips:
Romper in sandnes garn babyull lanett in the smallest size from a magazine from my grandmothers, knit on 2.5 mm needles.
Setesdal kofte size L in Rauma Finull
blanket/shawl in some mans del uruguay marina yarn on 3.25 mm needles, 350 sts, garter with 2sts icord sides
petite knit kumulus tee in viking bambino size M 3 mm needles
crochet granny stripe blanket in grenouile minis and blue greeen and brown scraps
catedral sweater by eweknit in toronto, pattern and yarn gifted alon with the book making memories for the catedralkal, heavymerino from kfo, 4,5&4 mm needles, size 4.
Lingering WIPS:
-pillow case in linen stitch using gazzal organic dk cotton
-Sock tube in vandre and kidsilk
-Blanket using zakami advents
socks in isager sock yarn easy wash
square blanket using rauma finull. 30sts by 30 garter bump rows
Catedral KAL:
The KAL is from June 9th until July 23rd.
Its run on instagram with the hashtag #catedralkal & #makingmemoriesbook
It is also run on their ravelry page ( www.ravelry.co... )
The KAL is for both the Catedral Pullover and Catedral for Children to celebrate the release of Making Memories: Timeless Knits for Children, Claudia Quintanilla’s new book!
There are several prizes for the KAL, if you add it to you ravelry projects there is even a prize of 500 CAD :D
Everyone’s welcome to knit both versions, but you can choose to knit just one of them.
The adult Catedral Pullover was designed in Knitting for Olive’s heavy merino, and eweknit have kits available. They also have a new kit in Emilia & Philomene. If you choose to make this version, they offer a 20% discount on the pattern and kit!

I now use a felting needle to reinforce my magic knots when I use wool - just stab it a few times to get them locked. Thank you for another inspiring podcast! I am almost ready to try color work after watching several of your projects.

I've never felted anything and don't know too much about it hence my question: Inga said she used superwash yarn for the blanket, is it possible to felt this with a felting needle?

@@Sandra_HereToSeeTheDuctTape I think any wool will felt a little with the needle. It worked with a scarf I did that was a wool blend, though I did it before I snipped the yarn with the knots so it might be tricky with knots already cut to poke it from the side. The single needle has a barb on the end that pulls the pieces together

@@AntisocialAuntie Ah, that's interesting! I'm going to order a felting needle and play around with it a little bit. I wanted to try steeking with it anyway but I think I wouldn't even had tried to use it with wool blends because I thought this won't work. So thank you for this idea and your reply! 😊 (Sorry, I'm no native English speaker and somehow my answer looks like all the "woulds" and "hads" and tenses in general are in the wrong places... 😂)

Thanks for another fun episode. If I'm not sure about the length (or amount of yarn) of a bottom-up sweater, sometimes I'll do a provisional cast on and start in the middle of the body and work upwards, then continue downwards when the yoke is finished. That way I can adjust the length more easily at the end. 😊

Your Talvinen is gorgeous, and the length looks great! Your tee is coming along so beautifully too! Good luck with the Catedral! I hope the yarn holds out! Your self-designed raglans in the past inspired me to do the same and make myself a raglan tee with some texture at the hem and cuffs (short sleeves). Right now, I'm working on a linen top, on very small needles, and having to encourage myself to keep going. I really want the finished item for the warm weather, but I'm not used to working with linen. I wish you well, and look forward to your next episode!

The baby sacque turned out GREAT! I have that Pingouin booklet (and many others) from the 80s. Their baby patterns were AMAZING back in the day. I've only been watching you a couple months, but I really enjoy your various projects and posts. I'm working on Dale of Norway Trondheim, in the original colorway with forest green, bronze, white, and red Heilo. "Working" is a very loose term--it's been on the needles over 10 years and I haven't touched it in nearly that long. LOL

It’s been a fun project using a cotton/linen yarn Zoey by Juniper Moon Farm. It is such a soft and pleasant summer yarn to work with, even for color work. And I also have some colorwork handwarmers that I am making using linen quill leftovers. I found Purl Soho has a free pattern called Celestial mittens/handwarmers using that yarn and thought it would be great to use up some leftovers.

Your biche Bouche sweater is amazing I was wondering if you finished yet I just love the grass green with white is beautiful. To undo a crochet chain is tricky because I learned to always do my chains with a hook one number up since I make very tight chains and my border always looked curled and so tight. I had to rip many protects until I learned that trick

Your sweater turned out beautifully! Living in Florida, knitting in the heat is challenging. i am using cotton/bamboo and cotton/linen atm but i miss the wools. I keep a cotton bamboo sweater or shawl that i can knit on no matter the heat. ❤

This was an enjoyable video and great way to end the week. Your Talvinen sweater is beautiful and the color combo works so well. I don't knit with superwash as garments tend to grow, but the colors on your blanket are beautiful. Regarding the baby garment, perhaps you could should stick to the zipper only, or use a snap instead of a button - babies constantly pull on anything and a button could be a choking hazard.

I'm a crocheter first, and I am amazed at the surgery you did on that blanket! I'm sure you couldn't find resources because crocheters just rip stuff out and redo it. Crochet is so much faster than knitting so it's less painful. Also, crochet stitches are more complicated than knit stitches so it's harder to cut into. I hope that makes sense - like they aren't reversible in the same way that knit stitches are. But anyway, I'm glad you fixed it. I always do the foundation single crochet to start, or I go up a hook size for my starting chain.

For the baby sleep suit you could use a snap instead and jus sew a button on the outside! No button hole and easier for parents too

If I were to make the cathedral sweater, I would probably do a provisional cast on, do the yoke, and then knit the sleeves and body top down from the provisional cast on.

I use fabric glue when I make something with magic knots (I'm too scared things could unravel after a while 😁) and I'm really happy with it. It took me a little bit of trial and error to get perfect results because in the beginning I thought: "Easy! I just put a blob of glue on the knot and that's it", but that can quickly go wrong and you get an ugly hard glue lump there. So what I do is: - I never ever put glue directly from the tube on my project. - Instead I first put some glue on some paper/a plate/a piece of plastic or whatever. - Then I dip the tip of a needle or a toothpick in that glue and put that tiny glue amount on the knot (I tried Q-tips before but found it was still too much glue. You really only need a teeny tiny amount as this will "melt" the knot together forever). 😊

Clear nail polish will work to seal the ends if you can’t find the fray check fabric glue you need.

When you start your starting chain (not cast on, that’s knitting terminology 😛) you can use a hook size or two bigger than the one you will use when working the blanket. That way, it’ll not scrunch up at the chain edge. Very cleaver solution though!!

Hi inga, I think that you made a mistake on your cross stitch. It seems that you have a gap between the stitches. The cross must touch them and here I see the linen fabric... However, I love your granny stripes blanket ! Have a good day :)

Learn foundation crochet stitches and you'll never have to use a chain for a cast on again! :) It's just as stretchy as any other row
