I have been following your channel with a lot of these people since day one. To see you in your new shop and tools is really inspiring for people just learning. Also, for casual and regular people like us that like to watch artisans in their craft I would love to see you and Blackbeard do a collaboration . I don’t know where he’s located, but that would be awesome. Wouldn’t it? Best regards from your New York people. Peace

h man I just LOVE those layers!! ESPECIALLY right at the tip of the blade... And that 3 piece handle (or maybe it's a 6 piece handle? 🤷♂) matches with the 3 curves in the top of the blade, which look fantastic with that bit of bevel on them... plus that small piece that would be right above your index finger is just WILD!! IDK if that's there to protect your finger or just for looks but it looks awesome!!! You knocked this one OUT OF THE PARK!!!!

I heard that as far as the white-out that you put all along the inside of the container, you can use ANY white paint as long as it has the titanium dioxide in it that makes it white - which is basically ALL white paints, as long as they're a bright white like in the white-out you used here. I would think white-out (or it can be called 'liquid paper' too) is VERY EXPENSIVE compared to a can of basic white spray paint, which is what I see most other blacksmiths use for this exact step... and it works fantastic! That because titanium has a hard time bonding to steel.... it CAN bond to you, but you need to take it up to a REALLY hot temp, which you obviously wouldn't do be accident :) - I hope this was some good advice for you :D

Is there a difference between putting some oil on the bit when you're using the drilling press? I know it's meant to keep the heat down, but is that more for keeping the bit from getting hot and dulling or to keep the piece/blade from getting getting hot?? I ask because I see some makers ALWAYS bit a bit of oil down, then some never use it, and some use it if they start to see smoke... So I've just assumed it was a personal preference, but haven't been sure about the bit getting hot and dulling... I've just assumed that is what the oil is for, but never confirmed it with a pro... So I figured I'd ask a pro now that it came across my mind :)

@badluckk610Ай бұрын
The whole point of making damascus is to show the pattern in the steel, you need to etch the steel for the pattern to be visible. If he had only used one type of steel making the blade he wouldn’t need to etch it
