I don’t agree with your assumption that someone buying this would not sharpen the blades. Any new tool would need sharpening. Unless it was very high end and expensive.

Thanks for your input, that is an excellent point. The flat blade and gentle round over blade are very reasonable to sharpen. I can't get the design blades sharpened well enough to cut anything remotely decent.

I've a question - is this a review of the Saker Chamfer plane or a cheap copy of it? I'm not sure what 'Knock Off' means in US English, but in British English it means imitation, fake, or stolen (a knock-off CD would be an illegal copy, for example). So are you saying that the genuine article from Saker might give better results?

D'oh! Have now realised the answer to my own question - knock off does mean the same in US, but Saker are not the originators of this tool. Seems that the original is by Woodpecker, (though they don't appear to be available in the UK).

Hi Steve, yes, you've got it! I should have been more clear about that. Woodpecker would be the original and much more expensive. Thanks for watching :)

So every ‘Bailey’ type plane is a knockoff of the original!

I like your work but I already subscribed. My newest knockoff shop addition wasn't disappointing. I have a concept for a collaboration project. Apparently, I'm coming to film this with you over xmas, so get ready...but I can't be in the video--I'm shy!

I actually have this chamfer plane in my Amazon cart and I was ready to buy it until I saw your video. I really was just planning for a chamfer plane but I see that this tool is, unfortunately not quite up to the task.

I have been happy with a few saker tools. But unfortunately this one just falls short.

Sorry about that! I cannot seem to figure out how to get it to record differently.
