In NZ we can't decide if the 'first floor' is the level on the ground or is the 'ground floor' is the level directly on the ground. So things get confusing...

I don't understand how the children could be distracting to the point it tarnishes the experience of the video. In fact, I think that it added that family touch to it. I mean they have children and this is what children do. It's important to let children feel free and comfortable in an environment that has a camera going as an important part of their life and lifestyle otherwise when will they find the time? And this is how any kid is at this age, clingy and always looking for attention. Welcome to parenthood! ;)

Very cool house, people who are complaining about straw-cup and kids being distraction- Megan edited a video so she knows each frame and sound! Many times while filming those things are not noticeable but can't trash video content for it. So I am going to appreciate house tour and honestly I love when kids are around - through their conversations they bring their point of view,experience of new place in. If I want to see just pretty French house I can google it .

Don't forget that with the Schengen zone Americans can only stay for 3 months within that six month period! So if you guys head to Ireland for 3 months, you would only be able to head back to "the zone" for another month-ish, before needing to reset your Schengen visa allowance! Would love to see you all traipsing about London :)

Seeing the "attic" with the original walls and floors reminded me of my great-grandparents' home in Questa, NM where they had adobe on the outside, plaster on the inside and packed dirt for the floors with large rugs thrown down on the floors. It was amazing how hard that floor was and handled all the foot traffic from all of the family especially at the holidays with very little dust.

What an absolutely lovely experience for the whole family! I love France. And unschooling is the best! My two grown kids were unschooled, and we spent some time living in Quebec to give them (and us) a French experience. Both kids discovered their passions during their unschooling childhood, then went to college - my daughter is a librarian and my son is a paramedic. Your kids are so lucky to have all these wonderful experiences and to have the freedom to pursue their own interests. All best wishes to you all!

Dee Shaffer - I'm a woman and found it interesting too! I think Mike wasn't sure if it was a strange thing for him to notice - kind of how he geeks out about car washes and gas mileage. I'm not against gender generalities especially when it's obvious the person making them is a fair and kind person. Mike couldn't be a more supportive husband to this loud and opinionated woman.

I'm not sure where to begin... but I wanted to tell you how much you inspired me and how in awe I am of you for doing what you do. Since I started watching your channel I've been thinking a lot of how I live my life, and what I want to do with it, and yeah I do feel like I'm stuck - I've been thinking that for a long time now, but not sure how to change it. But, I do feel the winds of change coming... Looking at you living in an RV has helped me realize I don't need a lot of stuff, they are not what matter and more often than not, they hold me back and complicate things more because I hold them to a much higher value than they really are. I've started decluttering my home and I've become obsessed about tiny house living to free up my time but also give me a project which I think would really benefit me. The minimalistic life appeals to me a lot; like why are we trying to build relationships with stuff and not with people? Because it's easier I guess. Thanks to you I got the courage and started a YT-channel where I'm trying to be more open and honest about myself and show the world who I am (I have a tendency to close myself off) and so far it's been a great sort of self therapy and it's helping me communicate better. Furthermore, I also admire how you take life as it comes, I can't even imagine myself with 9 kids, planning trips, having a job, AND running a YT channel full-time (are you super human or something - HOW?!?! I can hardly find time and focus for myself :/ ). But hey, maybe your life is chaotic and you're all anxious and super stressed 80% of the time when the camera is turned off but I doubt it haha ;) I get anxious just trying to plan ONE trip -basically because the unknown scares me and I think I will die lol - Also probably because I need to control everything all the time, mix that with high sensitivity and yay you have a nice cocktail of literally everything stressing me out. Why am I saying all of this, well because you give me hope of one day trying to be more relaxed and deal with things as they come and not worry about what MIGHT happen too much. That's what I take from your channel, if that's true or not I don't know, but that's the comfort you give me :) Anyway, sorry for going on so long... I'm happy you've made it to Europe and for taking us along. Thank you for showing us another way of living. It means a lot.

My husband and I spent a month in a suburb of Paris in an airbnb. It was a great experience. I so want to go back to France and spend more time there. The people are not as unfriendly as it is said if you try and speak French to them and do not expect them to conform to one's own expectations. A lovely country. And the bread is so fantastic. We lived on bread, cheese, ham and produce from their open markets. Some fruit and veg stores do not want you to touch their produce, just FYI, so they will snark at you if you attempt to bag it yourself. They are not that way at a supermarket, but at the specialty produce places. Also, the bakery quiches are simply fantastic...we had those for many a meal! Au revoir et à bientôt!

You need to try as many cheese as possible but you seem to already have dug into that, also you should eat load of yogurt, you'll see in stores there are so many more choices and they are much cheaper and flavourful than in the US, also you should eat berries; I never tasted berries in the us as good as in France or the UK (where I now live), especially raspberries 4/ We do love our scarves and stripes :p

In the previous vlog you said that the Internet wasn't really fast. It's a real problem here in France (download is OK, but upload is low). If you want to upload your video quicker, you can use cell phone data/plan with a French operator, without engagement and with unlimited data (for example Free Mobile, Sosh, Red by SFR or B&You) : it's very cheap (less than 20 € / month) an you will get 4G/LTE.

Great vlog! Did anyone else start looking around in their own home to see if their smoke alarm was beeping? Dear Knorpps, I love watching your vlogs, and getting to go with you to amazing places. I do have one request, though. Please, please, please, keep anyone with a straw and an almost empty container of liquid away from where you are filming! *GRIN*

hearsthewater I thought I was the only one noticing the juice box/straw interaction there. Yeah the audio quality was very up and down with this video, but that straw was very loud and up front...very annoying. The house and grounds are absolutely gorgeous...enjoy!

True; he is a child and children do childish things. That is what makes them so much fun. And these children are delightful. I was only suggesting that they be aware of the incessant slurping noise next to the camera. It is distracting from the video and a tad grating. I am sorry if I came across as critical of anyone in this video especially the kids, that was not my intention.

No worries. Not critical. hearsthewater. --- I too was surprised at how loud the juice box was. I think they were just unaware as it happened, and then later, it was already there. There was no changing it short of deleting those parts of the video.

when you're done with Europe come to Australia (including Tasmania because it is so gorgeous and people often forget about it) I promise you won't regret it, it is so diverse, naturally and culturally. Also don't just spend time in the big cities, don't forget to spend time in the outback and smaller towns (also people often don't to travel Western Australia as people often just visit Perth and don't realise how beautiful it truly is).

OMG I can't believe you are already in my country !! I've been following you since the beginning of your RV tour thru the US and it feels so weird to now see you in France. I love how amazed you are about our country so far. It truly shows how much you love it and it's great. I live for 10 years now in Madrid Spain and I miss France a lot. If your tour brings you to Madrid count on me for tips and help. Your family is truly inspiring. It's amazing to see how people make their dreams come true no matter what.

What a lovely home. The only thing having been a nanny and travelled. With the family I would not appreciate sharing a bedroom. Surely Sarah needs her own space ? Unless she's not a nanny just part of the family. A nanny needs her own space .

+Tracy Cook, because our situation is somewhat unique, 12 people traveling the world, we recognized that it would be difficult to find a home where we could spare a whole bedroom for one person. We discussed it with Sarah before she accepted the job. She agreed to share a room if it wasn't possible for us to find a home large enough for her to have her own. I agree that it's not optimal but that's just the way it has to be given our sheer numbers.

Jackie Hodge I'd like some parts of it but I couldn't cope with the road travel but it is going to be an amazing adventure and a far better education than being stuck in a school alll year. Especially if the children learn the countries language

That's kind of cool about the manual/standard/stick shifting! In the U.S. you can only get that when you go really cheap or really expensive. And Ash, buddy, please put down the juice box when it's empty.
@magslee6288
@magslee6288 7 жыл бұрын
keriezy it's actually standard in Europe. Automatic cars are usually more expensive. Also in Europe when you do you drivers licence you always have to learn to drive manually. There is not such thing as doing a automatic licence because it's a given. If you can drive manually you can easily drive an automatic car. But not vise versa.

You can actually get an automatic licence too (in Belgium at least), but you're not allowed to drive a manual car if you have that kind of licence.
