I have to admit in the beginning days of this trip I was concerned you had made a big mistake with this trip. It did not feel safe, exciting or clean. But I continued to watch and now want to tell you how much I admire you for this trip. You have shown us a place many will never even consider traveling to and how special it is. Yes, you had some bad moments but you showed us how a traveling family gets through those moments together. You also showed us how to keep our chin up and we will come upon the most special moments. Your children all handle travel well and will hold these memories in their hearts forever. Those of us watching will also hold special memories of this trip in our hearts. I will never doubt you again. So looking forward to the rest of your adventures!!!

Oh, I’m so glad you stuck around! We have hard moments like this on EVERY trip and I felt it wasn’t fair to not show it because it might make people feel like they are doing it wrong or aren’t cut out for travel when they have hard days. The hard days are part of the adventure and really become part of the happy memories too!

If you are still in Peru, alpaca socks are very warm as well as scarves made from alpaca. My guys love using alpaca socks in the winter to keep their feet warm. You might want to consider getting some possibly for Elijah to use when he is in cold territories of Japan. I found black socks from alpaca for my son to use for dress socks. They do have to be hand washed and air dried though.

👍 👍 Anything else before Incas is Calle Pre-Incas. The list of back-in-time people is as far as 15,000 years old as Huaca Prieta. The Civilization as we know is 5,000 years old as Caral in the Coast. Also Chavin back 3,200 years old, Moche (also called Mochica 2,000 years old), Chimu , Nazca, Chachapoyas, Chancas, Huancas, Pachacamac, Palpas, Chiribaya, etc

👍 in Peru 🇵🇪 there is a unique fruit hard to find somewhere in the World. It cannot be eaten directly (as an apple), so it can only be eaten as an ingredient of something else. It can be part of a Juice (from a Blender) or as part of an Ice-cream. Name is LUCUMA and Its flavour is very appealing for children. You may eat in "Heladeria Artesanal" where is sold "helados artesanales" (artisan ice cream). At supermarket you can buy a 1 liter of LUCUMA ice-cream DONOFRIO (ice cream industry brand)

Gorgeous BNB .. so much room for your large family. The market was amazing. When Megan mentioned "Gouda" in the cheese area.. I'm thinking loudly.. YESSSSSS !!!. I'm dutch, and would have been clogging if I saw that in an Peruvian market place. At least I would have been able to eat something along with rice, beans, veggies and fruits.. hahaha So nice that there was a park close by to wear off some steam.. Loved the mattresses under the monkey bars. Imagine them after a day of rain.. hahaha.. Great video.. thanks for sharing. 💟 P.s. Did you get all your clothes back from the laundromat?.. Ha

Wow those empanadas look exactly like pasties that are traditional where I live in South West England! Originally they were made with the pastry twist (called a crimp) on the edge so you could eat them with dirty hands and then throw away the dirty part. I wonder if there's a similar story here? Love seeing how similar our cultures can be 😊

A Peruvian cab driver told me about all of the different potatoes in Peru. So cool to see them! He said that the different colors are from the color of the volcanic dirt in which they grow. The blue ones grow in a sort of blue sand. He said there are a lot fo different colors, especially red, orange, and yellow.

Have y’all tried any of the popular dishes of Peru? Aroz con pollo, papas a la huancaina, ceviche, Crema Volteada (Peruvian flan), Lomo Saltado... I’m not seeing y’all have the best food of Peru. Mike tried the Cuy ( Guinea pig) but it wasn’t cooked good. I have a ton of friends from Peru and dated a Peruvian off and on for 6 years. Peru has really delicious food. Your kids would like aroz con pollo ( chicken and rice dish) and papas al a huancaina.

Peru looks amazing! I would live to do this. The best way to learn a new language is to be totally immersed in it and it is great exposure into another culture (which I'm sure is one of your goals in traveling). As a kid, I was sent to Mexico every year in the summer to learn Spanish and, as a college student, I spent time in Italy learning Italian. I speak like a 5 year old in Italian but I can get my point across haha. And just so you know, the man selling the empanadas said they would take quince or 15 minutes. Thirty minutes is treinta. Twenty is veinte, which is similar to "venti" (Italian for 20) which is one of the sizes used Starbucks (aka 20 oz).

👍 👍 Some people believes that Inca Ruins could only be built by ET - alliens . It is because we see their culture with our actual point of view. Back in the time of Pre-inca or Inca there was no Deadline (limited availabity of time) or Budget (limited availabity of money). There was no money as we know. Reasons to believe that Inca Architecture was built by themself 1º They were millions of citizens. 2º People lived only to work, you may have noticed that people from the Andes works all-day-long and it is normal, 14 hours average. 3º what they were building was sacred, the motivation was bigger than we can actually understand (our actual motivation is just money). 4º They do know how to make thick and long ropes made of resistant straw. 5º if they wanted to move a 10 ton rock, hundreds or thousands of them could move a big rock working together + Llamas. 6º Actually people in the Andes work together as a heritage of the Inca Society. 7º Polishing a stone by hand is something very tedious , time-consuming but an easy task. 8º There is no mistery in polishing stones. 8º It takes a long time to polish a big rock, but hundreds of them polishing just one big rock probably takes 5 or more years, but is is feasible 9º They know about the nature of stones, hardness. 10º they know about metalurgy of copper, bronze and gold (melts at high-temperature) 11º The hardness of each natural rock as granite, obsidiana, volcanic stone, etc was easy to understand because you are surrounded by them. 12 They had the tools to polish a stone with harder natural materials or tools made of copper or bronzes. All the evidences are out there everywhere you go in Cusco and in the rest of the Peruvian Andes.. thanks for listening..

Are LDS services pretty similar around the world? How do you understand the service while it is in Spanish? I grew up catholic and the mass would be in Latin in Europe but it was the same series of events as in the US so we could keep up with it. Is LDS service kind of like that?
