Oh Torrin... I just got to my goal of waist and planned to hover there, if not stop outright, and then you upload such a gorgeous hairstyle! My resolve is wavering. You enabler, you. And, and love the sparklie combs!

I've tried to do this bun before, and it never really worked well - but now I can do it! I don't even know what I was doing wrong. -.- Your vids are always like that for me - I'll read/watch tutorials, get my hair in terrible knots, you show it and then I get it right the first time!

Love this video. I have very thick and long hair and this works even for me. It's so hard to find some good hairstyles for very long hair.

My hair is not anywhere near as long as yours yet and I don't know if it ever will be, but I just want to thank you for your tutorials. They are my inspiration for growing my hair long because I want to try these hairstyles so much. Every time I get frustrated and want to cut my hair I just think of your hair taping tutorial and find new resolve.

tailbone length, though thin w/fairytale ends, so have not go nearly the gorgeous fullness of your knot bun, but I was able to figure it out & luv the way it looks & feels. I am "hand-challenged," so always thrilled to find something I can actually get my hands to wrap around!

It's so easy to do ! I got sometimes difficulty to realize yours tutorials on me because my hair are very long but also very, very thick (my hair reach my bottom, but with this knot, i just have 3 inches of ponytail) , happily I'm really stubborn, and the results are really beautiful and original. In France, women who have long hair often make a simple braid, a ponytail or a bun with a stick, but rarely make crown braid or victorian bun, it's not really "fashionably" *sigh* 1000 thank you ! :D

Aww, thanks! I'm stoked it worked for you first time. It always feels good when that happens, doesn't it? Lol. It doesn't always happen that way for me, I confess. But, the fact that it did for you means that I taught it correctly. Thanks so much for letting me know!

YAYAY! My hair is finally long enough this! And it's at 'can i call this hip' length. (to non-hair community people, 'hip-length' is where your pants waists sit for the most part. What we now would call our waist, but in reality the waist is higher.
@WackyLisa14 жыл бұрын
I just did this bun. I found that it works much better for me if I only do the first wrap around two or three fingers rather than four. Also, that leaves my pinky and maybe ring finger to stabilize things when I'm trying to pull the tail around prior to the pull through. This way I don't have to do a lot of fiddling to tighten things up to keep my bun from looking utterly sloppy.

OMG, I'm not the only person who thinks that a French twist with too much hair looks like an alien something-or-other. I've always joked that it looked like an alien was about to be born out of the back of my head. :) Love the do. I actually had mine in a knot bun with pony a few days ago. I wish my hair were still as long as yours. Why on earth did I cut it? Grr.

my hair is to my knees, hasnt been trimmed or cut in 34 years because of religious beliefs, I have degeneration in both shoulders so sometimes its hard and painful for me to work with my hair. I have been watching your videos and I absolutely love them, an idea! I did the know bun and left the pony down, i got some beak clips in the mail and wanted to use them to make a fan bun, so I did it was the knot bun at top and fan at the bottom, turned out really pretty!!!! thanks so much .
@Lyn48177 жыл бұрын
april taylor I know it is four years since your post but thought I would pass this along anyway. I also have very painful, restricted shoulders. I find it easier to lie on the bed, leaning back against the pillows, so my shoulder blades are supported by the pillow, then I can more easily do my hair. It transfer the weight of the arms and the muscles I use, when putting up my hair. My Doctor couldn't understand how I was managing my long hair (grown through choice and finally refusing to pay out so much for six weekly trims). I learnt years ago about transferring the use of muscles in my leg and knee after surgery. I couldn't do a straight leg lift but I could do a side leg lift. So when I started having trouble with my shoulders, I needed a solution. I have been able to help others out after knee surgery who just can't do that perky straight leg lift. I hope it helps.

@Iranaa You might be able to do a half-up, I'm not sure. Just take the top part of your back (like what you'd usually pull back in a barrette) and try it on a smaller scale. A lot of my viewers have told me that when they can't do a full-on bun, they can usually do it on a smaller scale in a half-up. It's worth a try.

Wherever I find them. The ones in this vid came from Ebay. I also get them from Etsy, the mall, drugstores, or pretty much any place that sells hair things. I just shop for them like you do anything else. :o) Occasionally I make them myself.
@torrinpaige13 жыл бұрын
@355sweta I'm not sure I understand your request. Any of the myriad of buns and up-dos I've done will work for those types of things. Just leave out my tendency to add sparkle and you should be fine. Any braid I do can be bunned and all buns are appropriate for a work setting.

@torrinpaige10 жыл бұрын
Less heat styling, more time between washes, and only trimming when it needs it. That's it, really. Being patient is the hardest thing about growing your hair long. ;o)
@vanitakamble26148 жыл бұрын
+torrinpaige heat styling or hair styling. ? I m confused
@lovewavefan25238 жыл бұрын
Vanita Kamble heat styling, as heat damages the hair and increases your chances for split ends (which can only be gotten rid of by cutting off, no product will 'cure' your split ends).

hi Torrin! I've tried this bun but can't seem to get it to feel tight enough. is the knot close to the skull? mine ends up a couple finger widths from my skull.
@torrinpaige7 жыл бұрын
You are like me and feel like if it's not tight it's not secure. Lol. So, here's what you do - make it a little bit lower - then twist the whole thing up. That sucker will tighten right up. I do this myself, so I know what you mean by it feeling too loose sometimes. I almost always end up twisting it up just for my own comfort. Loose buns trip me out. ;o)
@mikaeladeleon71287 жыл бұрын
torrinpaige lol exactly! I always end up checking and re checking to make sure the bin hasn't fallen out. I'll try this trick. the bun looks pretty and isn't complicated! double win!
@torrinpaige14 жыл бұрын
@bishonenrancher Frankly, I love pencils as hairsticks...they can be any length you need. Too long? Just sharpen that sucker down to the length you desire. I don't mind that they're cheap either. :o) Oh, and I got my pretty sparkly forks on Ebay...the seller is kelly0366 and the combs are going for $3.49 a piece (I bought 4 just because) and the shipping is only $2.99. You can combine and keep the one low shipping rate, so that's also awesome..and cheap!

how is this different from jjj pretzel bun?
@torrinpaige7 жыл бұрын
It's made differently. You'll find many of the knotted and wrapped buns are VERY similar. The differences are usually in the way it's put together, wrapped, or when you do the pull through. When I do JJJ's, I use my left hand, I wrap all of my hair under the bun, and then I do the pull through and tuck the ends. When I do this one, I use my right hand, knot first, then wrap around the outside. Similar, yes, but not the same. Mine don't even end up looking the same.
