I've always thought of beer as more of a clarifying thing. When I was young, my mom would soak her hair in beer, then slather it in mayo and put a shower cap on for an hour or two, then wash it all out. My mom had beautiful, shiny, silky hip length hair when I was little.

I think that LONG hair is sooo BEAUTIFUL as long as it is HEALTHY and have EVENLY TRIMMED ENDS. My best friend has extremely long hair like yours...she keeps it properly conditioned & trimmed. She always want to cut her hair and donate it to people that aren't fortunate to have hair due to illness. She "love" her hair that God blessed her with, but she says, that she is willing to SHARE HER BLESSING with others if it will make them feel better. She surprised a cancer patient with a child's wig

I think that the "custom-made" wig for that little child look so natural. She wore a soft thin little pad under it (I believe it helped keep itching & the sweat to a minimum). But, anyway...we were sad to see all our friend's beautiful hair cut to chin length, but at the same time it made her happy and the child "extremely" happy. We had tears in our eyes. Then, the amazing thing happened...we hadn't seen our friend for a few months...& her hair was pass her shoulders! GOD GIVEN GIFT-HAIR GROWTH

Teasing might be causing some of your thinning. It's really hard on hair and will make it break off much higher on the shaft after repeated abuse. Blowing your hair dry upside down will usually give you a decent amount of volume. You might try doing a full on braid out - it'll be wavy, but they're pretty waves and it'll give you a ton of volume.
@torrinpaige11 жыл бұрын
Since the fabric is wrapped back up over the hair, it'll keep the frizzies to a minimum for the initial style. The day after? I always brush mine out and it'll frizz at first but then it calms back down and will fall into a soft curl again. Much softer than first day curls, sure, but still a curl.

For curls, it's best to do it right out of the shower when it's still wet to work in your leave-in conditioner and detangle - or to work your conditioner through while in the shower. You shouldn't brush curly hair once it's dry as it results in a frizz fest. For curls? finger combing and a wide tooth comb or pick is the best thing. As far a detangling - absolutely, it works for all hair types.

Nice tutorial on "Victorian Rag Curls". I always wondered how that was done? Your bangs look nice wore to the side and your hair is beautiful. At age 17 my hair was just as long, wavy, auburn red hair and called carrot top or red? Now at age 57 my red hair has turned white, faded and turned a mousey color red. So I decided to be blonde. As a redhead my eyes were brown but, a majority of redheads had blue/green eyes. In the sunshine red hair, brown eyes could tan but, blue/green eyes would burn?

I did my hair using the same video you did! My rag curls (9' rags, lol) were picture perfect. The only thing I'd do differently is to do more separate curls, as opposed to trying to separate them. The only thing I have trouble with is what to do with the TOP? I'm thinking about using a small hair rat (used my hair) for lift in the front, wrap the side curls about a foot down and gather them up and together at the base of the rat. (I have no bangs)

me too -- even with the cutting up of the tshirt it only took 5 mins. My hair usually doesnt hold curls so well BUT they are still going strong (although have relaxed some). This may be the only way I bother with curls from now on!

Please help! What did I do wrong? I have long thick hair and followed your video but when I unwrapped them in the morning, there was only waves...no curls. :-(. Should I dampen my hair more or make tighter curls? (I made a total of 4 around my head.)
@torrinpaige10 жыл бұрын
Without seeing how you did it, I can't course correct you. I've only ever gotten curls. When I do mine my hair is slightly damp (if it's too damp, it won't dry overnight - which I have experience with) and those logs are wrapped as tightly as I can make them. They do feel like actual clubs attached to your head. If you wrap in a spiral fashion, that's the shape your hair should end up. Did you unwrap them the same way you wrapped them? That should keep the integrity of your curl. If you did four, once unwrapped, you should have had four big sausage curls. I have tried three - but ended up with more frizziness than I liked when I separated the curls. Two seems to be the magic number for me.

Look for Loepsie's Fully Rolled Sock Bun tutorial here on YT. If you put it up that way damp, then allow it to dry before take down, then you should have curls, It doesn't work for me because my hair is just too long for a comfy fully rolled sock bun and even if I get it up, it won't dry all the way. LOL. Works a treat for a lot of people, though.

Torrin, is there a solid reason for why you wrap the scarf all the way back up your "club"? I'm not seeing a reason for it so wondering if it's necessary... Thanks lady, and love your vids :)
@torrinpaige11 жыл бұрын
Yes! It keeps your hair from frizzing and tangling. Without wrapping it back up, the hair ends up rubbing against everything and frizzing and some of the individual hairs will catch on things and pull and when you take it down, you have a tangled mess on your hands. This technique provides no tangles or frizz after takedown.

I’m watching this in 2019 is your hair still that long ? My hair is down to my waist and I’m 60 my daughter says to cut it . but I love it👍
@torrinpaige5 жыл бұрын
Yup. I'm at midthigh, wondering if it will get to knee length. As for your daughter? She is free to cut her hair however she wants just as you are free to do whatever you want to yours. Don't cut it, not because SHE has some sort of societal hangup. Why does she care what you do with your hair? Why does anyone? What on earth does the length of your hair have to do with anything? Once ladies reach a certain age, society no longer wants us. Since we are no longer "young, beautiful, breeding stock" they think we have no value and thus must be reduced to having nothing pretty for ourselves. Save that stuff for the young. You know what? Society can lump it. My mother is beautiful at 60 and has shiny, lovely, waist length hair. My grandmother's hair is the longest I've ever seen it in my life (BSL). She's had short hair my entire life because it was respectable. Next week I'm dying her underlayer purple because she has decided that society doesn't get to tell her what to do. She's 80, she's old enough to do whatever the hell she wants. So, in conclusion, society can lump it. So can your daughter. If you want long hair, then have long hair. It's beautiful and why shouldn't you have beautiful things? Why give up something that makes you happy? Do not conform! Join us in the revolution! 😉😁

My mom is 61, and we have so much fun trying new things with her hair! I would never think to tell her what to do with it. She had pancreatic cancer for 2 decades, and her hair was very thin and straight. When she finally started getting her health back, it grew in thick and CURLY! It is currently mid-bum length, and she loves it. She earned that hair, and no one has the right to tell her - or you - what to do with it!

I watched this video yesterday for the first time and can't wait to give it a go... but it will have to wait to wash day, I think! I was also wondering, having seen your Harley braid, whether this might be good (possibly using black, or another colour of, fabric?) for motorcycling/hair endangering activities? It might need to be more carefully secured? I am certainly planning to use it next time I do a massive cleaning and batch cooking day - it might (when combined with a headscarf) help to prevent dusty, food-smelling hair. A plus would be the lovely curls as a reward for all that housework!

I don't know that it would work so well on the bike - mostly because those logs of hair are indeed logs. Lol. There is no way they'd fit under a helmet. And they are heavy. Feel free to experiment, though, you might find something they are good for other than just curling. :o)

It took something like 7-8 years to go from chin to tailbone length. It's a guesstimate because I wasn't really keeping track and I did all sorts of layers and trims and whatnot in the interim. The last five years or so it has been between tailbone and classic - back and forth a lot. I just kind of maintain around here. It's easier to deal with.

Don't torture it too much with heat tools, eat plenty of protein and dairy, and don't cut it. You only need to trim once or twice a year or so. That's it. Nothing magical, really. I have a few videos on hair care and such, but mostly - don't torture it and stop cutting it.
