Using this knot for 50lb French Carp: fishingdiscove...
There's lots of demos for the Knotless knot online - BUT have they shown you the best way to make your wraps and finish your knot to give the most robust finish?
Here John Pearson walks you through a foolproof sequence of tying a hair rig and hook-link using the knotless knot. It's an essential skill for today's carp anglers - and also for specimen barbel fishing too.
The demonstration uses oversize hooks and super-visible (giant-sized) cord so that you can see every detail perfectly. That will let you use your braid and fluorocarbon lines and regular sized specimen fishing hooks to create a great result.
A strong, simple and reliable knot that gives great presentation and hooking potential for any bait that you'd present on a hair rig. Obviously boilies (pop ups and bottom baits), wafters and larger pellets. However, don't neglect things like pepperami and nuts (where allowed).
If you're using a hair-rig, don't go carp fishing without this knot!

In the US we use a lot of power bait. Basically dough. I would like to see a method to attach the Power Bait. Thanks for all your videos.

I've used this knot with power bait. I basically tie a few small beads at end instead of making a loop for a bait stop. That seems to hold the power bait well enough. I use a much smaller hook and a 4lb mono. It definitely helps from having them swallow the hook as much, although I still get juvenile trout to swallow the whole thing from time to time.

I'm thinking of using this sea fishing I think the hair would have to be a good bit longer as I'm planning to youse hole pealer crab using a baiting neadle through the leg socket and using a crab leg as the bait stopper what do you think

Great video my friend. just one question and I hope you can help me? I have watched a lot of videos on how to tie this knot and a lot of them go through the front of the hook eye first and then back through the back of the hook eye after they finish there wraps. Does this matter or make a difference? If you get time I would really appreciate your advice regards this question. All the best and tight lines 👍😉

I think that if you go through the back of the eye first it helps to create a straighter "lie" of the line along the back of the hook shank. For a neat, low profile knot, you don't want to be whipping the line so it gets trapped along the front (in other words the part facing the gape or point of the hook) or along the sides of the hook shank. With that said - it depends which end of the line you poke through the eye! If you first thread the loop end through the eye (and then start whipping with the other tag end) then you'd need to come through from the front of the eye (and when you finish, go through whichever side of the eye makes sense with the tag end - depending on the number of wraps you put over the main whipping). Also, when I take my grandchildren fishing, we attach the Power Bait directly on the hook. Invariably the fish swallows it and there is no way to remove the hook and release the fish. Is there a method, when using bait, so the fish gets hooked in the lip for easy release.

A small shot (maybe a BB) about half an inch to an inch from the hook when using a hair rig can help pull the hook down towards the bottom lip as the fish takes the bait resulting in more predictable hooking in many situations.

You could use a paste spring or coil attached to your hair. Tie the paste spring direct to your line no need to create a loop and then tie a knot less knot as per this video.

I tie my knotless knots exactly like this, and I keep getting line snaps at the hook when I get a fish on. I’m making the first turn opposite to the eye seam, I’m doing the correct number of turns… What could I be doing wrong?

Hi Erick - what size hook, brand and diameter/breaking strain of line and size/type of fish are you targeting?

@@FishingDiscoveries hi there! I’m using a size 8 hook, line is daiwa sensor with diameter of 0.37mm and 15lb breaking strain. The fish I’m targeting are carp up to 20lb. Thanks!

@@erickstanza8782 Sometimes the brand of hook means that the eye doesn't close completely or can have small "burrs" that will cut your line. I'm assuming you're not storing the line you use in a place where it gets exposed to sunlight? The UV will break down the nylon monofilament. At any rate, there is clearly something not right since you should not be experiencing break offs with that combination of line and hook size.

@@FishingDiscoveries it’s brand new line, a few weeks old, but I am storing the remainder in the dark. The hooks I’m using are nash pinpoint claw hooks. But you’ve helped in that I’m going to check the eyes for burrs more closely before tying the rig. So, thanks for that!
