Outside of Philip II and Alexander the Great of Macedon kind of forcing a unified effort, Greece has a very long history of fighting each other. In 480 BC you had the Battle of Thermopylae. In 479 BC you had the Battle of Plataea, which helped end the Persian campaign in Greece. Greeks fighting the Persian invasion. Greek unity disappeared with the devastating Peloponnesian War of 431-404 BC only a few decades later, complete with the Persians funding one of the two leagues. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Also, all the major players in the Hellenic world were fully aware of the rising power coming out of Italy. Greece is next door to Italy and there's still tons of Greeks in southern Italy. Philip V actually went to war against the Romans DURING the Second Punic War when Rome was having trouble with Hannibal, Rome never forgot this. With the Greeks fighting against each other, bringing in the Romans against much bigger opponents, i.e. Philip V of Macedon, was probably quite reasonable to them. Rome was the only power that the Macedonians, Seleucids, and Ptolemies had to respect. The Achaean League was not going to stand up to Macedon by itself.

there was no Way in which the greeks could have avoided their fate of being invaded by the roman empire. the greeks already Had way too many problems to do deal with before and after the invasion had started, and many of the greek states had ignored the issue of roman impérial expansion in so that They could look after their own internal prombles.

simply the Roman way to use the power was incredible and had fortune on her side . Rome was born in the same period as the firsts greeks colonyes in Sicily . At the beginning the city was not the richest city in Italy but at north the Etruscans spent much power against the gauls . in the south the greeks colonyes fougth against cartago and so they didn't grow up as fast as Rome . At east Alxander was the reason of the greek's fall . Aside from that Rome was incredible at bribing other people , had a very strong centralized power , they copyed the enemy , and were pioneers in the ways of propaganda and thanks to that they had a greater capaciy to resist as a state

Also Jason with Argo and his Argonauts who was flying too, travelled to Amazon Brazil in one of his adventures. Also huge copper mines were found in the three big lakes in northern USA and the general idea is that Greeks were mining and send home thousands of years ago because the local indians were at the stone age. Navaho indians in the west coast of America still uses greek words and just not forget the findings in Mohave desert in California! Also lets not forget the travels of Hercules and Hermes in India thousands of years before Alexander the Great. The story of Greece ,as the Egyptians knew, started 100.000 years ago and survived three major flloods but the today historians try to cover it up because they will have to rewrite the worlds history from the beginning. So they continue to estimate Greek history 2000 years before the birth of Jesus Christ and not 10.000 or 15.000 years before Christ as they should!

Post flood Babylon is the most solid empire, the golden head, each one there after is made of weaker material/ foundations. The last and final one will encompass the entire world again in a more complete way but will be ultimately the weakest foundationally and will be broken by the Rock.

the thing is for the greeks it was better to be under someone from the other side of the sea(for all they knew the romans could lose a war in the future which would make their dominance over their city lighter and easier to remove) than from their neighbor... first of all dont forget that the macedons were still the kingdom that went all the way to asia, the diadochoi were still beefing over who takes to rule the empire... and alexander was god and all, but he didnt do the fighting... the phalanx did and greeks always feared/respected a good phalanx, be it spartan, theban or macedonian... think about it, you have macedonia next to you and then some upstarts on the other side of italy(i mean dont even consider "rome" as italy yet, its not long ago and the boot wasnt "roman-roman", had the romans actually failed somewhere down the way, the boot could still fragment, especially the greeks in the south and the gauls on the north and maybe some latins too)... so whom do you fear more? the people that have leveled thebes and have shoved their dicks to your face for a century now or some greebos from the tyrrenhian sea with funny looking soldiers(i mean they were not even phalangites ffs! im fairly certain that to the greeks at that time, they looked like noob soldier! xD)

In Anatolia, at the river and the first battle, Alexander sure was in a slight advantage, but he still had to cross the river to engage the enemy. Due to his bravery and genius tactician to take advantage of the terrain he was about to battle.

@@mariano98ify The Persian Empire was weak politically and somewhat militarily. Persia's army was large, yes, but they used the same tactics from Cyrus the Great, 300 years prior. They had little to no military innovation in tactics thus were beaten by the Macedonians. Persia's political system was also weakened by internal instability which could affect Persia's military to a certain degree.

Macedonians are descendants of Greek city-states btw that immigrated from the South (search on it). So saying greek freedom doesn't make sense. The Byzantine empire according to modern Byzantinism is the continuation of the Hellenistic period this is true in many way's. Byzantine warfare was based on that of the Hellenistic-Greeks, Belisarius himself when "invading" Italy tried to emulate Pyrrhus of Epirus armor, he also had studied Xenophon's tactic's and he had employed the Sarissa style phalanx against the Italo-Goths. The Greeco-Gothic wars is pretty much the invasion and devastation of Italy by the Greeks (A huge plotuist) PD:Pls Knowledgia make a video about this!!! Cheers from a huge fan :)

The Byzantine empire was really just another Greek Empire. Due to centuries of interbreeding and cultural influence, those ruling the Empire were far more Greek than Roman. It’s kinda like the plot in some spy movies where your enemy survives and take over the country from within.

Justinian tried to Hellenized the jews in Palestine by mayking and edict where traditional Jewish practices were banned and the native Jewish rituals had being probihited. He impose the Greek bible "sputgant" and he made it mandatory to practice the Greek rite insteed of the Jewish one. And let me correct you in something. Belisarius army was in a large degree Greco-Balkanic. According to Procopius after the siege of MIlan most native Roman-Latin citizens had being killed by Belisarius army afterwards it is said that he repopulated the city with Greeks from Anatolia, Sicily and nearby towns and at all times he's said to give orders in Greek not in Latin. Again in Procopius "on wars" it is said that he called his soldiers to form a "Chiliarchia" a traditional Hellenistic warfare formation to figth an Italo-Roman village that was resisting to the "Greeks".

For anyone who might interpret all this as if Macedonians were not Greek, I would just like to remind everybody that all Greek states were in constant antagonsim with one whenever they were not threatened by an outside force. The Peloponnesean war is a very good example of that. The Greeks had just beaten the Persians in war and when everything was all over, they started fighting with each other about which state would be the Alpha Dog in Greek affairs. That is when some states started asking Persians for help, in order to subdue other Greek states. And the Persians actually took advantage of that and started playing an active role in Greek politics by helping one or the other city-state, although they had failed in occupying the territory in direct conflict. As one may see, the same thing happened with Rome, and the result is well-known to all.

I have watched almost of this channel’s offerings and there isn’t one that does have egregious mispronunciation after egregious mispronunciation. It hurt my ears to hear his pronunciation of Flamininus, Cannae, Antiochus, Ptolemy, Nicaea, Acro-Corinth. This has probably more incorrect pronunciations, than all the rest combined.,

We still are in a way.. considering english language is partially Greek/Latin oriented Some historians claim that Latin language had first-spoken in central Greece and had been carried to Italy by the colonists..and of course became the primary language of western Europe countries in the middle-ages: English, French etc.

Your pronunciation for a lot of the names, titles, and even some generic words is pained and obviously wrong like you're getting drawn into the narrative script-reading.
