Excellent analysis. Not that many people get it. As far as lyrics and vocal ability goes Perennial live at Wacken Open Air and Pit of Consciousness live in Kyiv would be good ones for reactions. Having said that they have so many good songs it's hard to suggest just two. I usually just post the KZbin playlist I listen to pretty regularly. Hi Knox, allow me to introduce you to Tatiana Shmayluk. She's from Ukraine, she goes by "Tati", she is one of the most gifted vocalists you'll ever see, and she enjoys long walks on the beach and melting reactors' brains. Yes that's her real voice and she is just as impressive live. If you want to verify that I would recommend their performance of Perennial live at Wacken. Absolutely stunning performance. Also of note with Jinjer - the band is phenomenal. They get overlooked sometimes... I'm sure you can understand why but they are amazing musicians. Everything they play is airtight, they're always perfectly in sync with each other and Tati. One of my favorite bands around even though I'm not usually a big fan of super harsh metal vocals.

It is seriously astounding how well you heard those lyrics. I'm pretty used to listening to harsh vocals and still deciphering what the lyrics are, but you did that on the first listen, in spades, and did even better than that. You *very* accurately heard what she said, and you fully comprehended the meaning of it, and connected the song together very beautifully (I literally didn't even realize all of the lyrical meanings, and I've listened to and sung the song multiple times). I feel like this is where you are best as an artist, that being understanding and speaking the language that another artist or artists speak (I mean that both literally and figuratively)

Tatiana and bassist Eugene are both Pisces, and they worked together on the lyrics to this song. Today is actually Eugene's birthday. Tatiana's is the 15th. Wow, s-tier lyrics breakdown. Great work! Tati is an introvert, chronically depressed, and shy when she isn't performing but has learned to transform herself into what her art needs her to be. Whatever you do next will be awesome because their lyrics are always amazing. Some that I'd recommend are Perennial at Wacken to see them onstage in the standard followup to Pisces, Pit of Consciousness live in Kyiv for possibly their finest concert video, Judgement and Punishment one take for a bit of reggae and lots of real talk, and Home Back official about their hometown in eastern Ukraine getting caught in the 2014 war that set the stage for the current invasion. Subbed. Cheers!

I'll admit, I wasn't expecting too much from "Rapper Reacts" because I've been let down with other reactions, but your analysis of the lyrics and meaning were so good! You just got a sub. I would highly recommend doing more Jinjer breakdowns. Their lyrics are often incredibly deep (not to mention the music and vocals are insane). It gets even more wild when you find out that Tatiana (the lead vocal) generally writes her lyrics in Ukrainian first and they just happen to translate so well into English. Suggestions would be Teacher, Teacher!, Vortex, Wallflower, etc. but almost any song of theirs will be good! On second thought, Teacher Teacher! would be amazing because the verses are delivered in an almost rap style.

If I wasn't already subscribed before this video I would've been hitting the subscribe button for that. And I hope you go down the Jinjer rabbithole. I'd recommend Vortex, Teacher Teacher, and Crime an Punishment. Particularly Teacher Teacher from a lyrical standpoint cuz you seem to question authority so I could see you appreciating that one quite a bit. Sidenote, what makes her lyrics even more impressive is that English is her 3rd or 4th language and she writes all the lyrics herself.

That's definitely the conventional wisdom and even the band weren't that thrilled by at least the album version of it. Now, maybe Vlad fixed that stuff with his formal education but either way I can see why they'd have problems. It's a fairly standard song structure so getting it to Jinjer standards of uniqueness was probably hard. In particular, doing the same transitions in a way that was unique within the song and individually really interesting was probably hard. But in a way, pulling it off as well as this version manages to makes their skills all the more impressive.

Everything about this track is classy as hell. Even the harsh parts. Out of the few women who do harsh vocals, almost none of them are able to produce growls and screams that sound so much like what men produce. It's a testament to how hard she worked to perfect her sound. Typically women who do harsh vocals have a very distinctly different sounds.

She has too. She can go pretty low on her gutturals but you can still recognize that is not a man doing the growls, and there is nothing bad on it. Nowdays there are A LOT of women who do harsh vocals and there are some that you literally can't tell if is a man or not (like Cerebral Bore, to say a band somewhat "famous"), but imo everyone has a different scream, and it is ok. I spent years trying to become like Philip Labonte from ATR (I love his mids), but I'm better on tunnel growls and gutturals, I can do mids too but they are not as good, I stopped trying to be someone else and now I'm enjoing what I can do best

They're among the best to do it, currently. This isn't even their most impressive song (instrument or vocal wise), it's just the most surprising, so a lot of people recommend it as an intro to them. If no one has mentioned it, they are actually from the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, which has been one of the hardest hit and most embattled areas during the war. Luckily they were able to leave the country. I'm not sure about the rest of the band, but the singer Tatiana was able to move to California and is currently engaged to one of the members of Suicide Silence (I'm not sure who, not really familiar with that band). The fact English is not her first language makes her brilliant lyrics all the more incredible. And you nailed the interpretation of this song.

in the hard part the first part she sings ''scale armored bellies'' alot of sites say blaze but she is singing about fish (pisces) edit: Yes the emeralds are the scales when ppl clean the fish they remove the scales. they scrape them off.

I understand where y’all are coming from with Daddy, (and I agree it would be interesting), but I don’t think you can just throw someone into the deep end like that, so to speak. If that’s going to happen, I think he should build up to it first.

My fav reactor and my fav Prog Metal band. What a blessed Monday! Enjoying you from Fredneck. Epic reaction and amazing job (as usual) deciphering the growl lyrics, my friend! Oh, and the magic of them. They are from Ukraine (the part under attack - See Home Back for the song about the 2014 Russian attacks). She writes all of the lyrics in Russian after the guys write the music. She then translates all of the lyrics to English.

Could not have nailed the meaning of the song closer to the head, though I cannot say I'm surprised in the least. Jinjer is a phenomenal band all around, and Tatiana is a monster of a vocalist! This kind of modern metal is always a treat, and I am always happy to see where the journey takes you! Wonderful reaction, as always! Another suggestion you might like is Thornhill, specifically their album The Dark Pool. Anything from that LP is amazing and should definitely be experienced all the way through, but a good reaction would definitely be Nurture, Red Summer, Lily & The Moon, Coven, or Where We Go When We Die. Stay jazzy!

By far the best reaction to the very popular song by Jinjer! I also checked a few of your other METAL MONDAYS videos and they are pure gold! I discovered your channel today by accident and I was immediately blown away. It is so rare to see someone putting a real effort to understand what the songs mean and what they are really about. There are endless sea of reaction channels in KZbin without any real content, very few have anything worthy to say. You are one of the good ones. Thank you! And keep up the good work! Cheers! 🤘

Easily one of my favorite bands these days. I hate that I missed them after having tickets before covid hit. I would suggest, with the war in Ukraine still waging on, please react to the music video for "Home Back." Not only is it a killer song, it's very relevant despite it being about a previous conflict.

She switches easily back and forth between smooth and scream because of the technique: she is the master of the false-fold scream, which uses the vocal folds that we use for a deep cough, not the speaking or singing vocal folds. In some other tunes she switches back and forth multiple times in one line. To say she's amazing is putting it lightly.

Considering Tatiana is presented with pretty much complete demos of each song (& some of the lads' compositions are eyebrow-raisingly complex), to which she then needs to decide what she is going to compose from scratch, come up with vocal melody lines & lyrics which match the feel of the musical composition, & have the results consistently come out as flawlessly as she does.... well, it's hella impressive imho. Even more so when you consider she writes the lyrical content in her native Russian, then translates into English, then tweaks for rhyme scheme etc. She puts many natively English speaking artists/bands to shame. The lads' compositions over the last couple of albums, & particularly thru the most recent "Wallflowers" is truly *next level* btw. Not a reaction vid request, but just for your own enjoyment, treat yourself to their gorgeous thru-composed (coz #WhoNeedsChoruses, that's why!) single "Vortex" sometime. If you're not impressed, I'll give you your money back myself!! ;)

That was some really great analysis. You tuned in fast to the themes of the song. Great reaction, too, to the big reveal. What’s less obvious on first listening is the excellent musicianship and songwriting skills of the band, as well as all the production work that has made this “live” session sound so smooth, so rich, so clear yet so powerful. This song is a masterpiece.
