@@mjay417Actually, Sonic 3 was split into 2 because of a McDonald’s promotional deal. They had to release Sonic 3 to tie in with the Happy Meal toys, and so they took what they had finished, being Angel Island, Hydrocity, Marble Garden, Carnival Night, Icecap, and Launch Base, and made that Sonic 3. Then, they’d finish the rest and add some features like the Super Emeralds and Hyper Sonic as a Locke-On bonus, and as a neat little touch, they’d let you add Knuckles to Sonic 2, and play basically an infinite amount of Blue Spheres special stages!

Game feels like easy mode of Sonic 2 with Knuckles’ glide and the fact you keep rings from checkpoints. Also the lessened special stage requirements. Then you get to the final boss and then it’s made 6 times harder than the base game because of Knuckles’ weakened jump.

When I played as Knuckles in this game, that Death Egg Robot was almost unbeatable! I managed to beat it with Sonic and Tails, but not with Knuckles. His jumping height was a bit too low.

I just remember playing Sonic 2 and 3 with my brothers in 2 player co-OP and one of us played as Tails, which meant you literally could not lose the game unless you actually tried losing... All you had to do was let whoever played as Tails fight the bosses because even if he died, he just kept coming back. And second, the Chemical Plant Zones were always my least favorite in the franchise....just didnt like them.

There were some excellent games in the 2000's such as the Sonic Advance series and in 2005 the best Star Wars games ever made were released (Republic Commando, Revenge of the Sith, Battlefront 2, etc.), and one of the best games of all time in my opinion, Xenoblade, was released in 2011.
