I always love it when you're out surfing @ a tropical spot like that in maxed out conditions with other Hawaiians, particularly your best friends (like Eli)...you guys always stand out & have fun! And, I have to agree with Koa--that was probably the biggest & best barrel I've ever seen him surf...that resort is absolutely amazing...alas, mostly a faraway dream for the other 99% of the surfing population

That’s almost the identical experience we had at Kandui Villas travelling from Cronulla in 2022. We had a big swell hit then also, same size as you had just after a massive rain storm hit at night (maybe a day later). Beautiful place. 🔥

As a line two surfer who wants to progress, this was so useful. Very curious to learn little bit more on a board's volume and it's advantage/disadvantage in the different kinds of surf. There is also a lot of confusion as to what type of board parameters fit different kind of surf spots (is it a point break? beach break?), and everyone has different opinions. The reason for a long gun in big surf is this: it is easier to get into the wave, The turns are drawn out, you can bottom turn and arc through sections.
