Both the blower and weed eater work surprisingly well. Blower performance is nearly on par with some of your smaller hand held gas blowers, the nozzle gives good volume but velocity suffers some with the wider nozzle. Weed eater is light and more than sufficient for trimming and edging but won't handle heavy and thicker weeds well. Because of the light weight, low noise level and minimal maintenance , I would even consider these for gardeners who do residential maintenance. With 3 6 amp hour batteries you would probably get through the whole day. Only real issue would be in the fall when there are a lot of leaves.

His review is spot on. I just bought this combo and so far I really like it. And honestly I already have a 40 volt trimmer someone gave to me. Its more powerful but the 24 volt Kobalt still does the same thing, I don't need the power of the 40 volt. If you keep a maintained lawn this set is just fine. Plus you can use the battery for all their drills, ratchet, impacts and so on. As for my 40 volt trimmer it has a detachable head that I now have an edger piece for! The plan is to leave the edger on it all the time and use The Kobalt for all my weed eating. Folks do yourself a favor and stop edging with your weed eaters and get an edger! You will stay so much cleaner and save so much time and string using an edger to edge instead of a weed eater. By the way the blower works well too but don't expect it to blow three inches of wet leaves off a large lawn. And one more tip, bag those leaves with your lawn mower and stop wasting your time trying to blow them across your property into one huge pile you still have to pickup! (rolling my eyes)

Weathered you like or not What makes the kobalt cordless a better buy than most other tools is that lowes gives you 3 years on the battery and 5 on the tools without having to buy the extended warranty harbor freight on the other hand only gives you a 90 day warranty

I've had this set 2.5 years, ordered it from Lowes website, Mine appears to be ever so slightly different. Both the units are variable speed and very powerful, this will be the third summer on the trimmer and I have no complaints. As I have a large piece of land to care for and use the trimmer extensively, It takes nearly 2 hours to trim with typically 3 or 4 4Amp battery to finish it.

I've had this set for a couple of years. It has held up well and is more that adequate for my small urban lot. It's also very easy to load the trimmer head with new string. Well worth the money for my needs.

What's the run time for the battery for each tool? 20 minutes? 30 minutes? Are they better than the cheap Black & Decker ones?
@denoftools5 жыл бұрын
I'd say about 20% better than the 20V B&D set I used to have. That said you then have access to some of the better Kobalt power tools which you won't get with the B&D set.

Be great for those box cutter homes on tiny lots. I don't have time to deal with batteries over heating on expensive trimmers. I've got a large yard and about 500ft of fence to hit plus all the obsticals, so I've got to have a gas trimmer. I have a 2stroke echo I bought new 13 years ago, it's been great. Yes mixing gas is annoying, but I use the same fuel for my hedger and chainsaw as well. There's something for every situation, great review bear

Kobalt does an 80volt and a 40 volt trimmer that work very well. I have the 40 volt myself though I only have an acre. Heavy work it does about half of the yard but just light maintenance I can do most of the yard with a single charge.
@counterpoint67185 жыл бұрын
The blower seemed to be okay but the trimmer seemed underwhelming. I prefer Ryobi, for which I have multiple batteries for, and no need to go with a different brand with a different battery. As to the trimmer, I use a gas operated one and find the extra power, which is immense, far exceeds the battery versions regardless of brand.
@SeanOzz5 жыл бұрын
In my use on the video I just released the trimmer did great and the blower was underwhelming. I'm sure the bear would agree with me.

I'd really like to see a review on their new Kobalt 2x24v Max self propelled lawn mower as well. There seem to be no reviews on this product yet. They are advertising it as a 48v mower due to the two 24v batteries. I guess I'm wondering if it will be comparable to the 40v max mower in the Long run. Since im in that battery line already and 24v batteries are less expensive replacement or extras. This could be a good option.
@bigtank19825 жыл бұрын
I have the 80v trimmer and it's great. That trimmer can take other attachments, which is nice. I picked it up at the same time I got the 80v mower. I ended up getting the 40v blower and got the hedge trimmer at the time time.

@freemoney37234 жыл бұрын
How about testing the 80v trimmer and blower.
@stinkycheese8045 жыл бұрын
Meh, anyone who has used a 2 cycle gas blower will never want to go backwards to a weak 24V cordless, unless they've downgraded their home to something small where there are no trees and little to blow around. The trimmer, if it's just fast growing (non-woody) weeds and grass, you can get by with that for a sub-8K sq ft lot, depending on its density.
@Andy-df5fj5 жыл бұрын
I have a gas trimmer I haven't used in 2 years since I bought an EGO cordless and even the EGO get's a rest quite often as I find myself reaching for my nimble Ryobi 18 volt trimmer for quick light duty jobs that pop up. Sometimes the extra juice of more power isn't worth the extra squeeze of more weight, bulkiness, and inconvenience.

hey red!! seems like the whole kobalt 24v line is aimed at the brushed m18 crowd. same basic aesthetics and price point but with that brushless 21.6v nominal power, and same or slightly better specs. their cordless shop vacs are a good example of that. the recip saw and oscillating tool also look like clones. they put out though!! thinking about returning my month old ryobi trimmer/blower set for this set up.

24v @ 4Ah? So we're talking about 12 2Ah 18650 batteries? Is the battery pack physically big enough to support that many cells? I'd like some voltage and draw testing on that. Sounds fishy. There can be some marketing trickery. Could they be claiming that because it's brushless, it performs like it's 24v?
@andreykldjian5 жыл бұрын
So after doing some research, this thing is indeed 12 x 18650 batteries. It's a beast of a battery pack.

@stevem91415 жыл бұрын
@@denoftools Yes I use high powered LIPO in my brushless RC cars. Never had any problems, but I know tool companies would never use them due to saftey concerns. They do put out a lot more power than li-ion though. Maybe one day they will figure out how to keep them from exploding. It's 99% the consumer's fault when the batteries fail or malfunction, I will say that.

Less money than the a Milwaukee and less features than the Milwaukee.. My Milwaukee can trim my 3 acres with my 9amp battery and my 5 amp battery on the low speed and the grip is amazing on the handle. Also with the quick charge I can pop the 9 amp back on the charger while I have my 5 and once the 5 dies pop the 9 back in.. I’ve only had to do that once bc my grass was wet.🤷🏾♂️
