@benjohnston86659 жыл бұрын
Max Schlepzig I sort of agree with you. When you look at it technically, Kobe Bryant's FG% is the only thing that separates him from other great scorers. If only he learned to trust his teammates and the system like MJ did. I don't like it when he loses his dribble, pump fakes and shoots over the player for a tough shot. MJ wouldn't do that because it isn't a smart shot. If Kobe had a smart shot selection he would have been GOAT. Nevertheless a top 5 player in my books.

If you watch his interviews, his mindset has always been "what can I do about this nagging injury?" or "what do I do if I'm past my prime?" he always found a way to keep being the assassin that he was. That's the difference between him and the so called "king" of the NBA. He's 34 now and still relying on attacking the basket and athleticism. The guy can't even hit free throws. Kobe in his 30s changed his game even more. Midrange shots, in the post shots, long range bombs, footwork, becoming much more ambidextrous. In his last year after he got back from the achilles he even changed the way he elevated on his jumpshots. Size and strength and all the statistical accolades? Yeah give it to the so called king. But skillset and intangibles? Come on people, stop putting him in the same sentence with Kobe. No bias, its not even close.

***** Lebron is not clearly greater. He's lost 4 times in the finals now... he's lost almost as many times as Kobe's won. The only reason Lebron has made it to the finals every year he has is because he's in the most pitiful conference the NBA has seen, ever. the bottom 2 teams aren't even 500 teams. It's a no brainer he'd get there... but he loses because he can't close games against real competition (ie western conference teams). Bottom line... lebron is NOT a closer. It's the one facet his DNA is missing, and the one thing that will forever put him a tier below MJ, Kobe, Bird, Magic, and Kareem. I'm sorry, this is just the truth! He's a great player, but CLEARLY greater than Kobe? That's just untrue. Lebron is gifted... but Kobe is a winner.

Now that I look back on this championship run, Kobe was right... it was the sweetest not only because he triumphed over the Celtics and avenged his '08 loss but he redeemed himself from those back-to-back first-round exits (06' & 07') at the hands of Nash, the Suns. There's a reason why he is/was the most complete player in the game... Kobe's offensive arsenal was polished and his defensive tenacity was relentless, the man could score from LITERALLY anywhere. I have never seen a player who has been as hated/scrutinized as Kobe, especially on the road... he was the perfect villain that just wanted to crush your hopes & dreams and he made those Suns fans sit down & be quiet.

2008 WCF is Kobe's best playoff series ever. Look at the team he dragged to the Finals, and it felt like he was shooting practice shots half of the time while the Spurs got frustrated.

Kobe was unbeatable on the court, that’s why people shout out MVP to him, and he also gave 100 percent of his offense and defense

Let's not forget that my favorite player EVER was playing with a broken finger! Straight assassin on the court! Man, I miss those days...R.I.P. Mamba

A broken finger, had 1 All-Star as a support, played with people who can't name after 6-7 players on the roster without wondering whom it was, not the most talented support cast, but made them better and beat a 4 All-Star team in the Finals and doesn't proclaim himself as the GOAT, just always paid his respect to the previous generation and passed the knowledge to the next. This is the GOAT. Oh by the way, this all happened in one season

You guys notice how every shot made is all net no bouncing around the rim but Swish ! Net snapping every time Kobe was a basketball god and I’m a huge Suns fan so heart break every year playing him was impossible to escape

Suns fan here after Kobe’s untimely death. I came back to rewatch these games which fostered my love for basketball and we’re a huge part of my childhood. Losing Kobe is like losing a part of my upbringing as weird as it sounds but I remember so vividly hating the Lakers and dreading Kobe catching fire. I can’t believe he’s gone, I pray for him and his family during this time. A wife lost her husband and daughter and children will have to grow up without a father and it just breaks my heart. RIP to a man who’s work ethic and the way he carried himself as a father, a business owner and a man in the community have all transcended beyond basketball.

Unguardable.... Crazy to think that peopel don't put him in thier top 5... That is just factually incorrect. Unguardable KILLER. no super teams, just some decent teamates and wins 5. all loyal rings.

Those are some tough shots. Those are shots you no longer see in the NBA besides Curry (even Curry doesn't take shots like that).

+2K Universe Your clearly a 5 year old kid who didn't watch Kobe in his prime. Dont even try comparing7 kobe to curry. Kobe is in a different planet that steph will never reach. i say this and im done even a lakers fan.
@hoopsoutlier99179 жыл бұрын
+2K Universe I loved to see curry hit a fading right, 20 footer, over two defenders - both with a hand in his face, one of them 6'8" the other 6'10", to beat the shot clock in game 6 on the road...
@heissemdickson82089 жыл бұрын
+2K Universe He wouldnt....he's nifty but too short and weak. Defenders the size and as quick as grant and channing frye would be a problem. Not taking anything away from curry, hes a beast. just a different kind
@kame990239 жыл бұрын
+nitotech Yes, he does.
@Hamzethegoat8 жыл бұрын
No tf he doesn't 90% of Currys shots are open 3s with space to shoot or he dribbles to create space Kobe is literally taking fading contested shots over double teams with defenders hands all over him

I’m waiting for the day that people (the haters) will literally give Kobe his flowers. After watching him vs Houston and then the suns I just don’t see how you can’t put him in top two of all time. Many greats before him but it’s just hard to explain Kobe. If he had more athleticism then I think many would call him the goat. Especially had he of not been benched for his first few seasons…
@benjohnston866510 жыл бұрын
Kobes road to the finals in 2009 and 2010 was very difficult he had to verse a lot of good teams. The Lakers faced a lot of tough moments but Kobe's amazing offense always led them to the next round. Compare his road to the finals to Lebrons in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Lebron is fucking pathetic. He vsed the Bobcats, Nets and Pacers in 2014 lmfao.
@amazinggaming13839 жыл бұрын
LaMidrange Aldridge No one would argue with you. LeBron is great and heading to an impressive 5th consecutive Finals trip. Kobe, on the other hand, has beaten more 50 Win teams than LeBron in the playoffs, and it's not even close.

LaMidrange Aldridge lol pacers were a solid team that year.
@worldofwarcraftowns19 жыл бұрын
***** no he is not "Clearly greater than Kobe" because he is NOT, kobe is better than lebron james, 5-2 in the finals vs his 2-4, enough said Kobe is a better scorer, more clutch, better ft shooter, better overall shooter, more skill, more rings... just a better overall player.
@worldofwarcraftowns19 жыл бұрын
***** you are completely wrong but keep writing buddy... you make no sense at all.
@worldofwarcraftowns19 жыл бұрын
***** stats arent everything, and lebron shot 40% vs the warriors and 42% for the playoffs, Kobe has a different shot selection than any player to ever play the game, no one takes tougher shots than Kobe, and if stats were everything jerry west would be better than Michael Jordan.... he even said himself that Kobe is better than Lebron so enough arguing with you and I dont need to hear from you to know that Kobe is better... I let his play on the court through the years tell the story, when kobe catches fire its over for every team.
