People complaining about Kobe not passing the ball. The man was on fire. I can almost guarantee that Phil, in the huddle, was telling the team to get Kobe the ball. You run with something while it's hot.

Kobe is a legend. the whole "ball hog" story is an internet rumor. Considering shaq played with kobe and they won 3 championships its virtually impossible to say he "didnt pass" the ball. all shaq did was dunk and most of these came from passes from guess who?kobe. When he won the championship with pau who was passing pau the ball all those times? Kobe's a passers,always been. Someone got jealous kobes game was complete,they couldnt find a weakness in his game so they made one up and said "he doesnt pass". Thats how that rumor got started. Jordan took more shots than his team mates and no one says "jordan was a ball hog". Its called taking over the game. Its exactly what kobe did here in his 81 point game.

lebron vs kobe through my perspective (for those who compare them) short game- kobe mid range- kobe 3-pointer- kobe teammate- lebron (slight edge) slasher- lebron defender- lebron rebounding- lebron leadership- kobe iso- kobe passer lebron I'd say they are both great players but when it comes to offensive ability it's kobe all day.

Kobe better on offense?? maybe he got more skills, ''clutch'', footwoork than LeBron but at the end of the day: LeBron averaging career; 27.5 points per game with FG .497% Kobe ; 25.5 points per game with FG .454% How ironic that Kobe can score 81 points in a game and won just 2 times scoring titles in 17 seasons!!!

one thing you don't take into account is that Kobe has 18 years under his belt and Lebron has 11 years. So for my example stats don't really matter it's all opinion.

Jonny van Essen Exactly, players like Jordan, Bird, Iverson, McGrady, Carter, Pierce and now Lebron, Wade, Melo, Durant and Curry play lottery teams all the time and don't drop 81. It just doesn't happen. This performance was unreal, regardless of who it was against. (GO CELTICS)

This is *the* greatest scoring performance ever. Comparing this to Wilt's is blasphemy. Wilt had the physical presence which was unmatched at the time, allowing him to do whatever he wants. Not to mention there were only 8 teams he had to face, which really has nothing to do with his 100 point game. But the distinction is clear. Kobe is 6'6, has no physical advantage over anyone at his position. He can't just go under the basket and lay it up or dunk it. It s sad how overlooked this performance was. This is one of the most epic performances in sports history.

Mike ThaGamer I agree that MJ made the guys around him better, but lets not downplay Pippen. Especially in that first 3 peat. Jordan led the way, but Pippen was excellent and they had championship level role play from guys like Horace Grant.

Mike ThaGamer lets not downplay craig hodges, bj armstrong or john paxon or steve kerr. pure shooters. lets not down play horace grant or dennis rodman(champion before the bulls with detroit) best rebounder in the game at that time. lets not downplay ron harper...really didnt have a championship team...really...scottie pip, one of the 50 greatest players...did kobe have one of the 50 greatest players of all time on his team when he won in 2009-10 back to back...no
@SESSHOUMARU11
@SESSHOUMARU11 9 жыл бұрын
how am i delusional...i said mike had a great team. but more importantly what these teams have in common is the elements to win it all in a way that worked for that particular team with those players. but none of those players on kobes team are 50greatest. isnt that what i said...calm yourself. also mike played with pretty much a championship caliber team most of his prime and on (in chicago) by 89 they pretty much had all of the pieces that they needed. kobe had good runs with teams but kept rebuilding. like kobe said, hes jealous of tim duncan that spurs kept their team together.
@SESSHOUMARU11
@SESSHOUMARU11 9 жыл бұрын
im not making comparisons im saying mike pretty much had a championship team around him whereas kobe went through phases of ups and downs. shaq was on his way down and kobe on his way up, shaq didnt work as hard as kobe so whatever i dont care about the shaq scenario or if kobe got him traded or not, and if you really believe KOBE got shaq traded than u must be a big kobe fan, or you think jerry bus is an idiot, cuz if kobe alone got him traded, then how good is kobe, how powerful is kobe...you said it not me. kobe earned those last 2 rings and he can be selfish, i dont care i just appreciate his skill on the floor, i dont care about his personal characteristics. stop hating a guy you never met

DoU EvenLift well not trying in relation to how he did in the second half. he didnt take near as many shots or take over like he did in the second half. if he had done what he did in the 2nd half in the 1st he wouldve made a 100 easy...dude was unstoppable that night
@DoUEvenLift
@DoUEvenLift 10 жыл бұрын
steven4570 1. He scored 26 in the first half, that's a great half, scoring 26 in a game is good much less in half that. He was obviously trying and trying hard at that, he just never got into the scoring groove he did later on in the game. Not to mention when he caught fire in the 3rd the Lakers just kept feeding him the ball basically every trip down making it easier for him to score more. 2. He scored 55 in the 2nd, the amount of energy it takes to put up 55 in one half is virtually impossible to duplicate, even if he would've went crazy in the first he wouldn't have had enough energy to drop 55 in the second. Even if he woulda put up 44 in the 1st & 55 in the second(which is damn near impossible) he still wouldn't have got it. Scoring that much is tiring you know, in theory what you're saying makes sense but not in reality. And even if he would've dropped 100 or more, he wouldn't have done it easily or shattered the record, he woulda dropped like 102 MAX

@thatonekidreef
@thatonekidreef 10 жыл бұрын
Yea. You're 100% right. Taking 60+ shots a game and scoring 90 or 100 points is definitely impressive.. Wilts 100 point game he was 36 of 63 from the field. Kobe's 81 point game he was 28 for 46 from the field. Kobe shot a FAR higher percentage, took 17 LESS shots, and still only scored 19 points less than Wilt did. Kobe had a FAR more efficient and you could easily argue a BETTER game than Wilt and his 100. Had Kobe taken 17 more shots, a couple 3's mixed in, even going 9 for 17 on those shots a few 3's is like 22 more points pushing his total to 103 points if he would have been as big of a ball hog as Wilt was in his 100 point game. But people see 81 from Kobe and say it just proves he was/is a ball hog and takes too many shots and its the only reason he scored 81. But people marvel over Wilt Chamberlain and say it was the best performance ever. The Saber-metrics of it all would say Kobe played a better and more efficient game; and I would have to agree.

There is a behind story on that. Kobe wasnt really shooting 3s that well on previous games. Raptors' coach told his players to let him shoot 3s but try not to give Kobe space on his 2pointer jump shots. They werent guarding him hard on 3s on purpose.

It was the Raptors coach's fault that Kobe scored 81. In an interview with Jalen Rose, He said that he told Sam Mitchell that they have to do something and double team Kobe. But Sam insisted on playing Kobe one on one. And his decision resulted as the 2nd highest scoring in the NBA.

watch that game in boston with mike...no one and i mean NO ONE was athletically even able to compete in the same realm as mike on that boston team. kobe was playing against guys his size or taller who were able to keep up with him athletically. kobe did that on pure skill. not saying mike didnt but look at some of his 60 plus games...who is guarding him. mike usually had either a strength advantage, a height advantage or a speed advantage on most of the players guarding him. who did mike have to shoot over. kobe is literally shooting with a hand drapped in his face on multiple occasions and nothing but BOTTOM. jordans best was 69 against mark price and craig elo and it was done in overtime. gtf outta here. when it comes to getting hot kobe is second to none. and jordan never got 62 in 3quarters. even phil himself said kobe had to make harder shots than mike

And I am a bulls fan, but not even Michael Jordan could rival Kobe as far as shooting the basketball, Kobe is the GOAT in that regard. He is the only Laker to win 1+ rings without another HOF (has 2 without another HOF). Top 5 player all-time, arguably greatest Laker of all time.
