@Curly Que - It's more than just "fog". The morning of the accident there were 2 typed of fog the pilot experienced. The first was radiation fog which allowed a 5 mile visibility out of Van Nuys Airport. The second was the sea fog also known as Marine Layer that occurred within the Calabasas Gap. As the residence who lived inside of the gap, while interviewed stated it was the worse Marine Layer fog they've witnessed, and these where people who had residence there for 10-20 years. It was a combination of not so great things happening within a particular window that this time around led to the death of multiple people riding in a helicopter. Nothing could have been changed or avoided that day.
