An excellent complete review of what looks like an excellent car. How you don’t have many 1,000s of subscribers is beyond me. One thing I find a bit annoying with Skoda now ( they are not alone) is their option packs. The one you want for this car is the max at near £6,000. They used to have individual options - so instantly makes this expensive if the 85 model. Look forward to the next review.

It's a great car. I really like it. The EV3 offers a bit more for the money though, as you can get the bigger battery in the cheapest trim. Skoda really needed to include a heat pump in the higher batteries and trims. If you went for the bigger battery, the heat pump option would take you into the luxury car tax bracket.

I am interested in the classification of models into A-segment, B-segment and C-segment. That's done on the external size of the car - yes? - but with ground-up EV designs we are starting to see much better interior space within each segment. I am hoping people will start choosing EVs with the interior space they need rather than how big the exterior is.

I don't understand why you say the Renault Scenic e-Tech is a "much bigger car" than the Skoda Elroq. Scenic is 4470mm in length, 1864mm width and 1571mm in height. Elroq is 4488mm in length, 1884mm width and 1625mm in height. The Elroq is actually a bigger car than the Scenic in all 3 measurements.
@hishamg3 күн бұрын
One point of disagreement, a 4.5 metre car is not B-segment, it’s C-segment and a big C-segment at that. B-segment is cars the same approximate length as the VW Polo, the Vauxhall/Opel Corsa or the late, lamented Ford Fiesta. Apart from that I really like the car.

The Renault Scenic is actually a bit smaller than this car (2 cm shorter, 5 cm lower). I don't know why this Skoda Elroq would be a B segment car. The ID.3 is already a C segment car and it's quite smaller. This is a C segment SUV by any standards. Great first impressions video anyway, as usual.

Personally I feel the styling is on the safe side. I prefer the Kia look but as you say, styling is very much an individual choice. One detail point about the design -- doesn't the "tech deck" shape at the front mimic the traditional Ṣ̌koda grille with the wings on either side rising slightly around the bonnet "tongue" which has the name in it? The issue I would have if I were a Skoda UK executive is that I can't see why a "standard" 2+2 family would want to buy an Enyaq anymore? Unless you regularly need the larger boot space why buy the more expensive car?

Another knowledgeable and honest review Bryan. I am due to change my Kona EV in early next year and this new Skoda appears to meet most of my requirements. I have a shortlist of other cars including the Renault Scenic and Mégane and Skoda Enyaq 85. I've had a test drive in the Scenic and Enyaq, I preferred the infotainment system on the Scenic, but like the rear wheel drive of the Enyaq, I'm currently undecided about the two, but your review of the Mégane has tempted me to test it out and now the Elorq is also a nice problem to have in the mix. I would value your opinion on which one you would prefer as a daily driver, I know they all have different attributes, but purely as a daily driver that puts a smile on your face, which car out of the mix would your gut go for. Thanks Bryan.

Not such a small car. Skoda know their target audience. Shame, like a lot of EV,s, it’s still too expensive. A 25k starting price would be more tempting to new EV buyers. The quality shines through, and I think this Skoda will be well received. It’s a shame that the VW groups current woes will overshadow all its brands. Thanks for the content.

Great video Bryan! Thank you. A little disappointing review car given is a sportline as not available to order in UK yet as far as i can see from Skoda website. I imagine the 85 edition might be a little softer ride with the smaller wheels? Only spec i cannot find online is the ground clearance. I think the Elroq will sell very well for Skoda. No issues with the small drivers cluster?

good thorough review I'm going to change my kia ev6 next year and the two cars i have in mind is this Elroq and the Ev3 but I'm beginning to lean towards the Ev3 the reason is the longer warranty vehicle to load and vehicle to grid heat pump all standard from mid spec models here in Ireland the only thing i don't like about the Ev3 is the centre arm console storage and that sliding shelf. another car i want to drive is the new Vw Id3 gtx any chance your going to review that car.

If this had been out a few months ago when I was buying my Enyaq, my wife might have persuaded me to go with it instead of the larger car. (Though truth be told I might still have gone with the Enyaq for its absurdly blingy "crystal face" 😊.) it think its actually what the Enyaq should have been, size wise, because really the Enyaq is a bit too big for a five seater, and I expect a future Enyaq revision might grow and little bigger still and become a seven seater.

I don't know if it was a slip of the tongue but this is NOT a B-segment car! It is a BIG car being over 4.4m long. Nowhere near a B segment car. (up to around 4.2m) That is why the EV3 is a little more impressive (4.3m) and cars like the Volvo EX30 (4.2+m/69kWh) as they are more compact but still with BIG batteries. Both are very well equipped for the money.Huge discounts available on the EX30's.. Skoda suffer from very expensive equipment packs which quickly raise the price too much. And then well above the ECS tax threshold.

I have been looking at the Elroq 85 and EV3 as a possible replacement for by Kia Niro electric car. The top spec ones are expensive but what may swing it in Skoda’s favour is the finance package. The zero percent finance plus deposit contribution Skoda offers is much better than Kia’s.

EV3 for me however as you've said a good car pretty much all round. I thought the EV3 had slighly more boot space, yes? But as with Kia the downside for UK is that Skoda do not spec the Heat Pump as standard and it should be. I hate the fact that UK importers/reseller are constantly profiteering reference heat pumps!

The front end look is great … very smart and contemporary. The rear end look is very uninteresting. Big yawn. I’m not a fan. And the side view is also mostly boring. I do not doubt the build quality or practicality, so it’s a great option, but the Kia EV3 would be my first choice. Pricing is competitive for the entry level car, but as with other VW Group products, it can quickly get out of control with option packs etc. That again puts the Kia ahead for me. Overall very credible, as I expected. I look forward to the twin test with the Kia EV-3.

You call it a small car. Didn’t you notice that it’s a modernized Enyaq? Only the trunk is 16 cm shorter. The wheelbase and thus the interior space is the same. In Holland the price is euro 8000 lower than te Enyaq. So Dutch testers say: is euro 8.000 more for 16 cm worth it?
@carlarrowsmithКүн бұрын
Most of the interior is identical, a chopped Enyaq as your say. Just wish they got rid of the huge centre console, put a longer warranty on it and dropped all the addon packs that are standard on most other cars.

Skoda was the thinking persons choice when they were allowed free reign over VWs parts selection and were producing better, cheaper cars with better terms and warranty than their owners. That ended in about 2014 when everything shared the exact same engine, platform and so forth so I don't think that there's a reason to care now other than the price. I can't see the reason to buy Skodas anymore either as they are more expensive than their EV competition, especially the Chinese who offer cheaper cars with better warranties and such, and they no longer market at the cheap end of the market so you are stuck with MG or Dacia. Skoda has no real appeal now.
