An excellent complete review of what looks like an excellent car. How you don’t have many 1,000s of subscribers is beyond me. One thing I find a bit annoying with Skoda now ( they are not alone) is their option packs. The one you want for this car is the max at near £6,000. They used to have individual options - so instantly makes this expensive if the 85 model. Look forward to the next review.

I drive an Enyaq 85 edition which I purchased in January this year which I am really happy with but I would probably have gone for the Elroq version if it had been available, purely because it’s slightly smaller. On a side note regarding the imminent “luxury” vehicle tax being applied to EVs, I wonder if any manufacturers will offer a standard size battery on a car to keep the list price below £40k and offer a larger battery as an option ?

The Renault Scenic is actually a bit smaller than this car (2 cm shorter, 5 cm lower). I don't know why this Skoda Elroq would be a B segment car. The ID.3 is already a C segment car and it's quite smaller. This is a C segment SUV by any standards. Great first impressions video anyway, as usual.

I am interested in the classification of models into A-segment, B-segment and C-segment. That's done on the external size of the car - yes? - but with ground-up EV designs we are starting to see much better interior space within each segment. I am hoping people will start choosing EVs with the interior space they need rather than how big the exterior is.

Personally I feel the styling is on the safe side. I prefer the Kia look but as you say, styling is very much an individual choice. One detail point about the design -- doesn't the "tech deck" shape at the front mimic the traditional Ṣ̌koda grille with the wings on either side rising slightly around the bonnet "tongue" which has the name in it? The issue I would have if I were a Skoda UK executive is that I can't see why a "standard" 2+2 family would want to buy an Enyaq anymore? Unless you regularly need the larger boot space why buy the more expensive car?

Another knowledgeable and honest review Bryan. I am due to change my Kona EV in early next year and this new Skoda appears to meet most of my requirements. I have a shortlist of other cars including the Renault Scenic and Mégane and Skoda Enyaq 85. I've had a test drive in the Scenic and Enyaq, I preferred the infotainment system on the Scenic, but like the rear wheel drive of the Enyaq, I'm currently undecided about the two, but your review of the Mégane has tempted me to test it out and now the Elorq is also a nice problem to have in the mix. I would value your opinion on which one you would prefer as a daily driver, I know they all have different attributes, but purely as a daily driver that puts a smile on your face, which car out of the mix would your gut go for. Both are very well equipped for the money.Huge discounts available on the EX30's.. Skoda suffer from very expensive equipment packs which quickly raise the price too much. Not pretentious at all flying to Majorca for 2 days to do a road test and video of the new Skoda Elroq. Its the thinking persons brand. Probably because their design language is spot on. Volkswagen are slipping behind Skoda. Does it matter about the badges. The industry and design language have moved on. Think the Skoda Elroq looks like a cracking car You can keep the flying chicken looks better without it

The front end look is great … very smart and contemporary. The rear end look is very uninteresting. Big yawn. I’m not a fan. And the side view is also mostly boring. I do not doubt the build quality or practicality, so it’s a great option, but the Kia EV3 would be my first choice. Pricing is competitive for the entry level car, but as with other VW Group products, it can quickly get out of control with option packs etc. That again puts the Kia ahead for me. Overall very credible, as I expected. I look forward to the twin test with the Kia EV-3.

Its too big to be a B segment car. You can't just up the size and claim its still in the same segment. This won't fit on my driveway for instance.

He also said the Scenic is a "much bigger car" but actually it's a little bit smaller than the Elroq

I'm glad loads of people have picked up on this in the comments. This is literally a restyled slightly cheaper enyaq.

thanks Brian, usual high quality but those WLTP figures ha ha ... total joke really ...

Skoda will shift plenty of these under the motorbility scheme.

Interestingly Motability are falling out of love with EVs at the moment I hear. Will be an interesting thing to watch. Either way, it’s a great new addition to this class. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.

@@AutoEV My son qualifies for Motability and we have never taken the car but we may do on the next renewal and go EV. It would be very sad if they cooled off on EVs as Motability is a great source for good second hand EVs coming onto the market. As you probably know, the Motability deals change every six months and that can be quite drastic. For a while, the Ioniq 5 was the bargain of the century.

This looks so good we may consider it next year; at least they’ve ditched the silly fake ‘grille’ of the Enyaq. Looks so dull compared to the Kia though, and I hope they don’t all come with that gloomy headlining.

It's a wee car! it's a big car! it's a small car! Have you tried parsing this through an AI filter to clean up the contradictory waffle?

why do you keep calling it 'a nice little car' - it's wider than an Enyaq !

Exactly, it is not a small car at all...4,47m...trunk 470/1580L...new Audi A5 Avant...4,82m...trunk 448/1396L. Even the Mercedes C-Class T has only 1510L. Due to the EV Platform it has also only 9,3m turning circle...A5 about 12m. This relativ "short" car can easily replace any estate for a family, too.

47k for a small SUV... holy mother of god! It's a shame the mid one is only 59KW, 65KW would of been ideal. Im amazed you didnt mention the amazing Megane E-Tech as competition since you loved that car.

The Megane isn't a competitor for the Elroq as it's a lot smaller. The Scenic is the Renault model that its competitor.

Interesting...since NIOs Design Center is in Munich...Xiaomi SU is designed by a former BMW Designer...GWM is designed by a former Porsche Designer. No, not chinese Design wins, but European Design. Same for KIA...Peter Schreyer the former Chief Designer from Audi, changed the Design completely.
I have some in my VW Multivan...but I used only one time in Summer...after this I had 5 days back pain due to the cold air...never, ever I will use it again.

Skoda is a premium brand now at this stage 👎
@billienomates7100Ай бұрын
Skoda was the thinking persons choice when they were allowed free reign over VWs parts selection and were producing better, cheaper cars with better terms and warranty than their owners. That ended in about 2014 when everything shared the exact same engine, platform and so forth so I don't think that there's a reason to care now other than the price. I can't see the reason to buy Skodas anymore either as they are more expensive than their EV competition, especially the Chinese who offer cheaper cars with better warranties and such, and they no longer market at the cheap end of the market so you are stuck with MG or Dacia. Skoda has no real appeal now.

VW are going out of business no money 😮😮😮😮😮😮
@josefv-y8m20 күн бұрын
No, it still makes money and no minus, but too less to be able to invest, which is needed. And VW will never go out of business, since partly owned by government. It will be for sure saved if needed, like Renault from the french government, several times in history.
