The “Small” strategy with a smaller, fast-charging battery hits the sweet spot for those looking for affordability and the ability to charge quickly on occasional road trips.

Estate! There aren't enough of them and given that we've been a Skoda family for decades (Felicia, then Octavia estate), we'd like to continue in the same vein. It's just a shame it'll taken even longer to get them secondhand

I went from a BMW to an Audi to a skoda Enyaq and haven't looked back! Well, that's not strictly true, being electric, I have in fact looked back at a few BMW's and Audi's in the rear view mirror! Love the Idea of an Estate car but also like the look of the Enyaq🎉 replacement. So impressed with the build and handling of the Enyaq NEVER would have thought I would be a Skoda convert!

@@phuketexplorer those are my two favourite cars that I'm seriously considering, they will probably both be around the 27 grand mark though, a fair bit more than my 15k fabia, but I'm thinking once you factor in inflation to that old price, overall fuel and maintenance savings, and maybe pick up a nearly new second hand one for closer to 20 grand in a few years, should be close enough for me.

Skoda will get my attention when they sort out their horrible screen / control systems. The Enyaq is a perfect car for me in terms of size, range and price, but I can't get on with the controls and that's just a deal breaker.

That infotainment which is in ID.7 is totally different better hardware and software. It will be in facelifted Enyaq also maybe even earlier. I'm more disappointed for horrible lead times already waited 80x 11 month and at least 4 - 7 month more wait time compared to other deliveries.

The new Enyaq 2024 which just started to sell days ago (which also replaces the "80" battery by "85" and so on) has a completely new infotainment system with no lags and faster accessibility of the functions.

I do like an estate. Hope they bring it to market ASAP. But I do wish car designers would get over their love affair with massive wheels. They're unnecessary, increase rolling resistance, decrease fuel efficiency and eat into cabin space.
@mr.wizeguy8995
@mr.wizeguy8995 Жыл бұрын
EV needs to be higher because of battery pack so increased wheel size doesn't reduce cabin space because majority of wheel are level with battery pack or lower it. What comes to rolling resistance i doubt that with increased weight that a bit bigger wheel might be actually better than like 16 inch wheel. If smaller wheel is better why trucks wheel are even bigger.

I would like the smallest and cheapest one. I realy dislike unnecessary large heavy EV's that 99% of the time is used to transport 1 person. And that is what we mostly see on the roads. Status symbols. Why is there a change from ICE to EV in the first place? . . . .Yes, to make transportation more environmentally friendly. You dont get that with all those huge 7 seaters and MPV's.

Definitely the estate for me too. I've currently got a Mokka-e but drove an Insignia previously for a company vehicle. I certainly miss having the space for work usage and now with a family, being able to potentially fit car seats and ever growing children into the back is definitely a need for me. Not to mention that I'm well into my 30s now and a Skoda estate is a right of passage, surely?
@Brian-om2hh

The Octavia Estate is a hugely practical and comfortable car. I've had 2. One was a Mk1 1.9Tdi, the second was a 2.0 Tdi Mk2. Both were brilliant cars. The Octavia Estate is Europe's best selling estate car..... If you like an auto, the 7 speed DSG is a great auto to use. You can just leave it to do it's stuff, or you can select your own gears if you wish. The 1.5 litre petrol is also a cracking engine to drive behind, with 150 bhp. If you need *lots* (and I mean lots!) of space, then a Superb Estate is the one to go for, as it has more rear leg room than a Mercedes E Class..... Both the Octavia and Superb are available as a plug-in hybrid too.

Skoda infotainment is buggy. They also are a bit confused in Enyaq where you can have quite powerful motors with no apparent gain in performance. I hope they get things together, their ICE cars used to be quite good - much better then VWs

Bit weird that VW is fine with Skoda competing at exactly the same price points as VW. Wish they'd differentiate them more. Like they could've tried to get closer to £20k with the ID2 equivalent with a bit less tech/ quality. VW takes the midmarket and Cupra goes premium/ sporty.

Really just a PR exercise then - and a lot can happen between now and 2026. That £23k EV can suddenly become a £30k or more EV due to 'unforseen circumstances'. I'd certainly like to see the return of saloon/hatch family sized cars and a move away from godawful SUV's. Right now, car manufacturers love the high price/high margin EV market, which is why most are announcing a big incease in profits, yet pricing out the average buyer at the same time. They'd like to see you sell a kidney first to try and afford the 2-3x monthly lease cost of their latest EV that they've now crammed a 100kWH battery into.
