Quick note: the vertical/horizontal orientation are switched, since it’s shooting 2 vertical half frames on the same amount of space as 1 horizontal frame! Not a deal breaker at all, but will take some time getting used to!

I just finished my first film yesterday (got this camera for my birthday on April 25th 2023 so almost one year ago) and I am so excited to see what I shoot. I remember taking risks, trying to create diptychs, lots of pictures will probably be blurry but I just want to see what's on that film!

I got one of these for Christmas and just picked up my first photo prints today. I shot Kodak Gold 200, mostly indoors and mostly just family shots around the house. A lot of my photos turned out dark even with the flash (some were okay; most weren't). The best ones were the ones taken outside even despite it being gloomy cold January here. I picked up a Fujifilm 400 to try next - I'm hoping that'll help the indoor shots be brighter. It seems 200 is recommended a lot for this camera but I think that would be ideal for outdoor photos especially for travelling and bright sun. Am I wrong? Any recommendations would be a great help. I really want to love this camera but my photos were kinda meh. :/

I typically use 200-400! And use the flash every time I’m in shade or indoors! It very much needs the flash, but also at an effective close range! When in doubt just use the flash anyway :) film likes to be overexposed, so it doesn’t hurt!
@leanneland

@@Anjroo Thank you so much for the advice, that's very helpful! I was a bit unsure of when to use the flash but I will definitely keep that in mind. I feel more confident now about my 400 film also. It's been sooooo long since I've shot with film. Thanks again! 😊

Some options are: Your local camera store/film lab! (Or mailing it to a lab) Or places like Walmart/walgreens, however! They just mail it to a lab anyway, and you also don’t get your negatives back!

Okay the longer I watched the more I was convinced you are shooting in Utah? I swear I saw Tibble Fork, Cupbop, and BYU campus? Maybe I"m going crazy here. New to your channel, just got recommended on the YT front page. I love my H35 too for all the same reasons as you! My favorite snapshot camera. If you haven't tried yet, give a roll of Vision3 250D a spin through it. Match made in heaven for that camera.

Can you put a timer on this camera like click the shutter button and make it wait 5seconds before taking the picture?

Unfortunately no, But it’s not very common to find that feature in budget cameras like these either way! Hope that helps :) ^the feature you’re looking for is called “self-timer”, so make sure to include that in your search for cameras :)

This camera can’t do that unfortunately! The date stamp happens in camera when it’s taken. Usually by an electronic point and shoot camera

@@Anjroo I did watch that before this. I saw you said it died soon after so that got me bummed. I know all cameras will, but I would like one that could last me a while. I like the simplicity of this Kodak Ektar, but the ONLY thing I miss is that date stamp. I guess I could just write on thr backs after they’re developed? Idk I really love that feature. Wish it was applicable without digital ones.

Great video. I'm wondering what is it with the viewer? I mean, if you frame your photo, the whole view is going to be exposed in vertical in your half frame? Or how do yo frame your photo?
@Anjroo

Yes! Looking through it normally, it will be vertical, and take a vertical exposure. If you want to take a horizontal photo you have to flip it! Hope that helps!

hey ! i am now sure that i will be purchasing this one but I still have a question. since it takes two photos instead of one, is it simultaneously (like the two are made within a few seconds, picturing the same thing) or you take one and you can take the other one a few days later/weeks ? thank you !

Hello Andrew first of all thank you for your many videos which are always so cool to watch! I had a question regarding the Kodak H35(n) camera. I can't really understand the system in half... If I hold my camera in landscape mode, I mean "horizontal" the photo will be horizontal too ? Or do I have to hold my camera vertically to get horizontal? And also, the size of the photos is similar to those of the M35 and M38 (10*15 I think) Thanks in advance ! From France, Martin.
@Anjroo
@Anjroo 3 ай бұрын
So half frame means it will take 2 vertical images on the same amount of film that would’ve normally been 1 horizontal frame! So the orientation will be flipped. But there are built in framing guides that help you with this reversed view! Hope that helps!

Most point and shoots like this will have a shutter speed around 1/100, which is probably why they are blurry! Regardless you’ll have the same issue, just having a steady hand will help :)

I’d recommend anything cheap! Especially since an expensive films stock won’t really shine in a budget camera like this. The cheapest 200-400 iso film you can find :) I usually use Gold 200, or Fuji 200/400

Hi there! I got this camera half a year ago and already shot some photos. However, soon I have an occasion where I would like to shot pictures on a new roll, so that I can gift the roll to someone. Is it possible to unload a half roll and put it back in later to use all the frames?
@Anjroo
@Anjroo Ай бұрын
You can but it’s risky! Since you wouldn’t be able to tell when the roll started and stopped, there’s a high likelihood you’d shoot over your previous exposures and ruin them! I would just finish the roll, or get it developed even tho it’s not finished!

@@dingpongcrate Lol. Let's take fuji provia 100. Price in 1991: 11.4DM = 5.83euro, 96% inflation since 1991 = 11.43euro today. And that was including development cost. Current price 19.95euro + 7euro development = 26.95 euro. That's more than TWICE as expensive. Ektachrome? 3x as expensive.
@thompsonevergreen8006
@thompsonevergreen8006 3 ай бұрын
Nope it's more expensive than it used to be adjusting for inflation. It's also still more expensive to get it developed, there are no stores to walk into to get developed so basically it's like this. Cost of the film + cost of processing + cost of postage there (sometimes back too) = the cost of each and every 24-36 exposures which is absolutely insane considering digital photography is always free to do in the same context

I’d recommend anything cheap! Film isn’t very affordable nowadays, and this camera isn’t exactly high quality, so to my logic it doesn’t make sense to put expensive film inside an inexpensive camera. Usually Fuji 400 or gold 200 is what I use :)
