Quick note: the vertical/horizontal orientation are switched, since it’s shooting 2 vertical half frames on the same amount of space as 1 horizontal frame! Not a deal breaker at all, but will take some time getting used to!

Hey there! Could you explain this to me plase? my english is bad. that means if i only take photos in vertical portrait mode, they will take double the space? It would be a pitty as i want to take vertical photos. Am i understanding it wrong?

@@tukor Hola!

I just finished my first film yesterday (got this camera for my birthday on April 25th 2023 so almost one year ago) and I am so excited to see what I shoot. I remember taking risks, trying to create diptychs, lots of pictures will probably be blurry but I just want to see what's on that film!

I got one of these for Christmas and just picked up my first photo prints today. I shot Kodak Gold 200, mostly indoors and mostly just family shots around the house. A lot of my photos turned out dark even with the flash (some were okay; most weren't). The best ones were the ones taken outside even despite it being gloomy cold January here. I picked up a Fujifilm 400 to try next - I'm hoping that'll help the indoor shots be brighter. It seems 200 is recommended a lot for this camera but I think that would be ideal for outdoor photos especially for travelling and bright sun. Am I wrong? Any recommendations would be a great help. I really want to love this camera but my photos were kinda meh. :/
@Anjroo
@Anjroo 9 ай бұрын
I typically use 200-400! And use the flash every time I’m in shade or indoors! It very much needs the flash, but also at an effective close range! When in doubt just use the flash anyway :) film likes to be overexposed, so it doesn’t hurt!

Compared to the 1990s it's much cheaper @Owanneke
@thompsonevergreen8006
@thompsonevergreen8006 9 ай бұрын
Nope it's more expensive than it used to be adjusting for inflation. It's also still more expensive to get it developed, there are no stores to walk into to get developed so basically it's like this. Cost of the film + cost of processing + cost of postage there (sometimes back too) = the cost of each and every 24-36 exposures which is absolutely insane considering digital photography is always free to do in the same context
@owRekssjfjxjxuurrpqpqss
@owRekssjfjxjxuurrpqpqss 5 ай бұрын
What the fuck are you talking about? Film has literally never been more expensive and compared to like 6 or 7 years ago, the prices for film have almost doubled across the board. I used to buy 5 packs of portra 400 for 30-35 dollars but now it goes for 70 if you’re lucky. Film is overpriced.
@owRekssjfjxjxuurrpqpqss
@owRekssjfjxjxuurrpqpqss 5 ай бұрын
@Owannekethe only way I could imagine someone thinks film is cheap now is 1. They just recently got into film and didn’t buy film in 2017 or so when it was typically half the cost. 2. They come from a rich background where 70-80 dollars for a five pack of portra seems reasonable to them. I literally was buying 5 packs of portra for just over 30 dollars in 2017, it’s wild seeing someone here telling us film is cheaper than it’s ever been lmfao.
@owRekssjfjxjxuurrpqpqss
@owRekssjfjxjxuurrpqpqss 5 ай бұрын
You are so insanely incorrect it’s hard to fathom how you believe this unless you just started shooting film in 2020 when film prices were slightly higher than they are now due to the pandemic. Under ten years ago film was largely half the price or more, I used to buy 3 packs of superia xtra 400 for 12-14 dollars and now superia is gone, same with portra, and the films that are left are more expensive than ever. Portra 5 packs went from 30-35 dollars in 2017 (based on my Amazon and b&h receipts from the time) and now they go for around 70-75. Kodak is able to price their film at absurd levels because Fuji basically exited the film market entirely. Most other films are just repackaged Kodak film, whether cinema film or expired stuff. Lomography is making a few new emulsions but those are expensive too. I used to buy 3 packs of lomo 800 for under 15 dollars and now I’m seeing them online for 57 dollars. You’re either gaslighting people or you just got into photography.

Yes that is true technically, but the lens quality matters more than film size! For example a full frame disposable looks worse than a half frame pic from this camera :) so in my opinions the resolution being cut in half is not a deal breaker!

Hello Andrew first of all thank you for your many videos which are always so cool to watch! I had a question regarding the Kodak H35(n) camera. I can't really understand the system in half... If I hold my camera in landscape mode, I mean "horizontal" the photo will be horizontal too ? Or do I have to hold my camera vertically to get horizontal? And also, the size of the photos is similar to those of the M35 and M38 (10*15 I think) Thanks in advance ! From France, Martin.
@Anjroo
@Anjroo 10 ай бұрын
So half frame means it will take 2 vertical images on the same amount of film that would’ve normally been 1 horizontal frame! So the orientation will be flipped. But there are built in framing guides that help you with this reversed view! Hope that helps!
