Compare the madness of the Abrahamic religions, with their tribalism, ''God's chosen people''/Master Race ideology, war and hatred, to what this young fellow's venerable master answered when he asked the master if it was alright to be gay! I know in my heart, that The Buddha would have responded the same. Many people (in sadness over what the Abrahamic religions have wrought) often wish that there was no religion. But I wonder what the world would be like if Buddhism was the guide. I didn't watch much of this- he CAN'T be a monk in any sense I understand. But what I'm pointing to is the loving words of wisdom he got from his teacher.

Well, he's in a devotional school (Shin Pure Land) so his Buddhist faith is somewhat different from the other sects. They believe dharma has been corrupted enough in the present era that one must place their hopes for final liberation on a future life. Nonetheless, I think the idea of equality in Buddhism regardless of sexual or other minority holds across sects, Buddha was critical of castes after all.
