A real estate investor tried to turn it into a housing development with section 8 units in the middle of the high end housing he proposed to build. Needless to say, the people voted it down but a commissioner in his pocket is still trying to approve the investor’s proposed changes. It’s not easy to rewrite the zoning just because..

Further proof they knew was Janelle knew she could only put a fifth wheel on the property.. No other kind of camper approved. She knew she could only keep it parked there 30, days and that she needed a generator to operate it as electric couldn't be put in there with out county approval.. Kody and Robin aren't capable of pulling off much without being found out . All the buyers would had t been told by the lender and have to agree they knew of any and all restrictions before the sale could of been done

When that episode aired, I looked up the woman who created the drawings (I was suspicious when they went 2 hrs out of Flagstaff to meet her in her livingroom, so I looked on LinkedIn to see what she claimed to be). She identified as a "draftperson", not a licensed architect, so her artwork would not be acceptable at the building permit office. Perhaps she created the casita art too. And was hoping for a Barndominium drawing commission.

I think Kody knew the conditions attached to the acreage. I think his long term plan was to live with Robyn, let the other three pay off the debt on the land then tell them they couldn't live there. Real estate prices in Flagstaff remain stable Even increase. A big developer will buy it as he'd know the loopholes to get around most restrictions.. KODY didn't buy a place that was a rip off.. It's been bougjt and sold over and over they the years.. With the value holding steady or rising.. They still own it.. One can't sell it without the others signing too.. So in essence it's money in the bank. A part of the equity that Janelle ended up being only one in Flagstaff that had nada to show for her whole life of working. This property as of March 2024 is fully PD off. The deed is issued in Kody..Janelle..Robin and Mary names. The value of the property in March this year is listed at$800 thousand. Not on the market long before it's sold again and each time for more than before. So it's fairly nice piece of real estate to own free aha clear by the four of them

Another thing that would have made me walk away from even considering buying that property is that because of the prairie dogs contamination that carry plague. You can look up how dangerous that is in the area. I read that all the contaminated dirt would need to be removed and replaced with “clean” dirt. Even then the prairie dogs would just continue to contaminate the replacement dirt. I never understood why the Browns would risk their kids health by moving onto the property anyway. This, in addition to the ridiculous deed restrictions, just makes whoever that did know about all these problems before buying is nuts! Love your podcasts Katie, keep up the great work!

Kody mentioned “restrictions” on Coyote Pass when they were looking at the property and he “said” he wanted the restrictions removed. Did he ever do that? Knowing Kody, he probably never did. Kody talked to Mari in season 18 that the division of property was for 5 lots, but if he never revised the lots from 4 to 5 then the ownership of the property is very different than what he told Mari and possibly also Janelle. Why don’t these ladies get a forensic accountant and fight for what is theirs, going back to the purchase & sale of the Las Vegas homes as well as Coyote Pass. Not just the sale value & purchase value of the homes, but who made the monthly payments? I feel like Cody never paid anything to the individual homes in Las Vegas?

I'm not convinced they can retain those restrictions once the property is paid off. I believe they basically financed it directly from the seller, as opposed to getting a traditional loan. It doesn't make any sense that they could just repossess something they no longer have any ownership of. Those sellers did modify some of the initial restrictions so I'm assuming the Browns could do the same. "Sell" it to a shell company and modify the agreement so they can build as the property is zoned. Not that they will build, because broke.

I think a lot of financial decisions were made by Robber and Cotex to benefit the two of them only. I honestly think that Cotex has looked at the OG3 as his "workers" always, and he sees himself as entitled to their lives, their children, and the fruits of their labors. So EVIL!

Also, the "pond" is a runoff water retention pond and there is a gas pipeline, both of which would prohibit any building within certain distances. It would be interesting if there were restrictions on cutting down trees, peeling them and leaving the stripped logs to deteriorate in the elements.

Robyn was the driver pure and simple because her son was going to school there. She never intended IMO to live in the polygamist fashion with any of these women. She got the house she wanted knowing the other wives could never crowd her. She got the big expensive house she wanted paid for by everyone else. If her son wanted to move after college they had a house and land worth lots of cash and they could simply follow the son wherever he tried to go. I thought they would be prohibited from building due to a wetland restriction (the occasional big puddle). With current laws I don’t think they could even build vacation cabins on that land due to its topography.

If all of this was done for a "story line" and TLC was aware, this is pretty damn bad. Even Janelle living in the RV on the property, in my opinion, I see, at the very least as liability on the part of TLC. Janelle still owing a monthly payment on the RV and having it in storage? TLC should compensate her. Couldn't build on the property and TLC new it? TLC should take responsibility as that production company would have 'participated' in a fallacy and misrepresentation, whether the Brown's went along with it or not. In my view culpability there. It seems from everything reported/documented on the show, the move to Flagstaff was initiated by Robyn for her son. Were the Browns in financial straights in Las Vegas? There, they owned homes. Did TLC go to the Browns and say, we have a story line and instead of each of them purchasing a home in Flagstaff, they entered into this purchase of property that could not be built on for the sake of the show and put ALL of them at financial risk. Just questions.

I always suspected Robyn's motives on this property. IMO she Never intended on 'community living' with the other women because this devious chick wanted to be the head wife period. I kind of figured she went along with the purchase yes maybe, to fit the storyline, but knowing her own agenda she assumed one day it would all be hers or at the very least, once sold, she would be entitled to a profit. I got Robyn's "NYTimes Bestseller" (Becoming Sister WIves) out of the library again. It starts with Kody saying his home was in Wyoming. A few pages later he says he came "home" to Utah (!?) from his 2-yr mission. His father & sister who knew Meri still lived in Wyoming. There was no mention of it, but I started to wonder if his mother had taken a break and was living in Utah and that is why he and his sister were there so often. I think it’s easy to forget that this family didn’t originally have money. That the lifestyle they’ve become accustomed to, isn’t the lifestyle this family was created on and lived a long time. Therefore, once you remember this, you understand just how easily it was for them to make poor financial decisions. Fame and wealth came fast, but Kody had no idea what to do with it but buy-buy-buy! I think he heard that investments is how wealth grows, so he invested. Not understanding that GOOD investments is how wealth grows. It’s really easy to make one or two poor investment choices and end up in a bad way again. Typically people obtain someone to handle their money, did they not do this?
