The worst thing is that not only Detroit doesn't even get a top 3 pick AGAIN despite being geniunely bad and not tanking on purpose, but Atlanta who didn't even try to tank and was mid at best got the number one pick. From the league’s perspective you could see them rewarding the Hawks for fighting for the play-in each year, whereas the Pistons are being punished for having an unwatchable team (rival superstars sitting when they come to Detroit).
@deborahburks65627 ай бұрын
The pistons was not tanking. That is why the NBA won't give them the number one pick because they think they are. And that is not true. The GM is the problem here he don't know what he is doing. And the pistons did not help their case by losing all them games in a roll. And there is no way the lottery ball came up 3 time for the pistons to get the numbers five picks three times in a roll. That impossible. The NBA just give them the number 5 pick. Because they think they are tanking. The pistons was just bad. Because of the GM. They need to go back doing the lottery in front of everybody. Not behind close door. They 😊even wanted the Spurs to get the French guys the last lottery. They was never going to give him to anybody but the Spurs.😂

in between "draft" and "trades" is DEVELOPMENT. A team like Denver isn't good just because they drafted Jokic & Murray... they actually gave both those guys time to become what they are today, which then makes winning a trade a lot easier, because youre trading to strengthen a weakness instead of trading to find a foundation. This is how Andrew Wiggins can go from being a bust in Minn to a key piece of a championship team in GS. Same player, different organization. To me, the recurring commonality among bad teams is lack of overall identity due to volatility in the front office, coaching & roster turnover.
@Ram-zc4fi4 ай бұрын
this exactly. getting this many top picks and striking out consistently is indicative of the higher ups. as a Hornets fan, seeing the move on from the Jordan era and seeing how we're becoming more competent is crazy

The problem isn’t really missing out on pick 1 even. We could never bank on that. It’s just been the fact that we’ve fallen almost as far as we could for 4 of the years around the Cade year. If we had just fallen to 3 or 4 those three years, we’d have a shot at guys that fit better with the roster. Instead we’ve been taking BPA, and these guys just don’t fit together. The system isn’t allowing us to get out of the gutter. Part of it has been drafting, but we generally took what was thought to be the right guy at 5 the last two years.

I think the lottery system is great in how it punishes tanking. I probably would still change it to favor the worst teams a bit more. The worst team in the NBA should have a higher than 52% chance at a top 4 pick. Pistons getting the 4th pick 3 years in a row still wouldn't be a reward but might recognize how bad the team was.

Fun facts. Cade had the tenth highest usage percentage and fifth highest assist percentage in the whole league last season. His assist percentage was ahead of lebron. What does this say? To me it says he has the ball too much and is getting assists cause players r getting the ball with less than 10 seconds on the shot clock consistently. He's way too ball dominant. His usage percentage was on par with curry like thats insane. However it begs the question who else should have the ball? Ivey i guess but even then. If a player has to have the ball that long u have to do a Luka or lebron style team building and do spacers, defenders and lob threats around them. My whole point to all this is Cade has the ball way too much, but the front office has done a terrible job too. Its just all screwed at pistons HQ really.
