Again a great video of a nice location . Great video and description once again . I like that you take your time and actually let the viewer take it in unlike the histrionice younger generation that use the camera on themselves more than the location. well explained and shot . As a photographer you might have just given me a new location. Thank you .

From a fellow Canadian. I was there 20 years ago. The beach was much wider, though it was October so also caught a bit of stormy season. How I'd love to be there now. So beautiful and peaceful. Prices more than right. I'm very sure that I still cannot sit on Thai pillow rests and since it was awkward for me 20 years ago, I'm sure impossible for me now. So wishing that I was there. Looking forward to your next video.

We went on our honeymoon last Feb to March and stayed 5 nights at the Cabana resort in one of the cabins overlooking the view you liked. We had our own private rock to climb up and watch sunsets and a path down to the waters. Snorkeling great too. Sairee village was a gongshow but I suppose 3 and some change years later, it was good to see cash come in for the locals.

Great vid and makes me really wanna go back to Koh Tao. I have been there 4-5 times already, first time many years ago and then after I started scuba diving then the later times were all done in the last 2 years. The last time I was there was in June during the first long holiday after lockdown. It was really quiet with international tourists unable to visit and many restaurants & hotels out of business. It's still my favorite island since I've made many friends there from diving. Will be sure to go there again soon!

Perhaps you can answer a question about Mama Ochai's options. The only room available for when we want to stay is a standard double room with fan or double room with garden view. Do you know if these units are facing the beach? I can't tell on google earth where these would be located, though I do see the bungalows facing the beach. If you know an answer to this question, we would greatly appreciate your response. Thank you!
@SideTripLife Жыл бұрын
If I recall there's about 6 (?) beachfront fan bungalows. However, if you end up in the second row you still hear the waves, get the sea breeze and a peekaboo sea view between bungalows. Just loved Mama Ochai's. PS: stayed there again on this follow-up trip: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2HUfqxrfc5ppJI&t

I live on Koh Samui it has been devastated by the COVID-19 lockdown the main tourist areas look like ghost towns. Thai government just announced they will not be opening to foreign tourist until after March which would be a full year since the lockdown started. Unfortunately many of the tourist businesses probably will not open again due to bankruptcy. www.traveldailymedia.com/thailand-general-tourism-close-until-march-2021/

Is the price the normal price or heavily discounted price cuz of covid19? Well presented and very informational👍
@SideTripLife4 жыл бұрын
@Ah Yae Yeung Hi AYY, all the food prices in restaurants shown are normal regular prices EXCEPT where it says 'discount 15%' then deduct 15% and where it says 'Daily Special' etc then it's a special. Prices of hotels were discounted but for example my beachfront room was 800 baht (discounted) and usually 1100-1200 she said, still great! That 4000 baht $130 month Thai cottage I showed is seasonal price I think (same sign as last year btw) but again in 'normal' high season probably not much more. Obviously one can spend a LOT more on posher places too but for me, cheap n cheerful on or near the each and sorted! :) Edit to add, pls see part 1 for my hotel tour and prices: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHfYhol6q7Wrfbs

What docs are required to visit long term there?.......Beautiful place....Great vid....
@SideTripLife4 жыл бұрын
Depends if under 50 or over + how long wanting to stay? There's the newish (& awkwardly named;) 'STV' 90 day visa -extendable to 9 months. There's also various 'Ed' type visas (Thai language, cooking, Muay Thai, etc etc) up to 8 months + limited extendable/with conditions, from 20-30K Baht/$650-$1000 USD. There's also the 'Elite' Visa various options (5, 10, 20 year) from 500K Baht/$16K USD. If over 50 there's a retirement visa (extendable yearly) must have either 800K Baht/26K USD bank balance, or 65K Baht/2.1K USD monthly income. There's other 'visitor' visas but I think that's the main batch. Currently any visa option must be firstly approved by your local TH Embassy & then go through quarantine requirements of course. Hope the above info is all still accurate (check your local Thai Embassy site for latest!) & helps answer your query. Cheers!

Not certain but water was crystal clear in most places despite mass muddy runoff. Eventually tho all will have to ante up plenty more to pay for upgrades to infrastructure. Hi, Phuket is on opposite coast (West coast) and the gulf islands are on the East coast but it's easily doable. Maybe fly into Phuket for a couple nights, then take a boat to Phi Phi for a night, then boat to Ao Nang/Krabi/Railay for 2 nights, then short bus trip to Surat Thani and boat to Samui then reverse island hop Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao then final boat to Chumpon and sleeper train to Bangkok -or up to my FAV beach town area in all Thailand, Prachuap Khiri Khan:: bit.ly/3mvznRF Or Hua Hin: bit.ly/3aoFsNr Better days ahead, happy travels:)
