My first Audio Interface review on this channel. Trying to do it a little differently. How did you like it? I appreciate your honest opinion! 😎
@MartinvonBargen5 күн бұрын
Really like it, especially the way you show how to use it in a hybrid set up. I've used an ID44 for years now and would deffo upgrade to the 48 based on your review. 🤘🤘

I love this review! It’s super informative and does a great job showcasing the Audient iD44 in real rock/metal/band scenarios. Currently, I’m using the Audient iD24 and loving it so far-Audient preamps are definitely my favorite. I have a suggestion and a question, though! One thing I appreciate about the iD24 is the send/return after the preamp, which allows me to integrate outboard gear before recording. It’d be awesome to see the iD24 in action with a compressor like the Universal Audio UAFX 1176, LA-2A, or even the UAFX Max Preamp & Dual Compressor for vocal recording-even though those are technically "guitar" pedal compressors. I think it would really showcase its versatility!

Great video. I liked how you show cased how it would work with other items.

With regards to the UI, I believe you can change the look from modern to classic (maybe it’s called something else). Found it out while using an old iD4. Really improves the interface imo! Cheers!

whatever you do is always interesting. we always learn something in your videos. can you do a studio tour? Maybe you have already done it and I didn't realize that the video was out, but I think your studio is always evolving, isn't it?

Audient delivering once again... thanks for the demo/review! I have the ASP 880, I have only compliments for Audient... love their mic pres.
@kagunmarx59144 күн бұрын
It's Audient's version of the Antelope Orion 32, which can track 48 or even 64 simultaneously depending on the settings... but it has on board pre-amps. Very nice.
@arrowsmith___3 күн бұрын
Probably more closely related to the Orion synergy core which has converters on board as well. Price difference is significant though and based on audient rep with mic pres it’s going to sound better than the antelope
@TacomaEscape5 күн бұрын
Nice move by Audient having the ability to keep everything plugged in and switch between DB25 and XLR I/O’s. I use to use that function all the time on the Universal Audio Apollo’s.

Thank you for that video Kristian! I’m happy to say I’ve recently joined the Kult, amazing content:) I toured and recorded with Virgil Donati in the 90’s & 00’s, and co wrote and played guitars on the “On The Virg” album ‘Serious Young Insects’ that you might not know (and played a whole Dream Theatre set with Mike Portnoy back then too). I think you’ve convinced me the audient is what I need for my new laptop setup 🤟 (by the way, I wish your great drum mixing tutorials existed back when I mixed our 2012 live concert that’s up on my KZbin channel!) All the best from Melbourne Australia brother . Simon Hosford 🙏

I will say, for me, the number one thing that I look for in any audio interface is software reliability and long term support. As a professional, I cannot state how much more important this is to me than any feature or sound.
@samuelgabriel46465 күн бұрын
I totally agree. After dealing with driver issues, buggy software and routing limitations on the evo16, I ended up with a RME UFXii which has super versatile Routing and a USB2 connection. Never had a single issue since then...
@SebastianSnoeck5 күн бұрын
Yep reliavilty and especially long term support is very important ... I have an old rle fireface uc and it is still supported ( last drivers some months ago ) ... not sure that other cheaper brands will do that
@JeremyAndersonBoise4 күн бұрын
Supporting industry/platform standard drivers is incredibly important to this exact end, and of course I also agree.
@EzyoMusic4 күн бұрын
So that just means “buy RME”, right?
@milesaustin98204 күн бұрын
Agreed. I have an xr18 that I got originally when I was playing in a cover band years ago, and I've gotten way more mileage out of it than I had ever imagined. It lives in my desk rack as my interface now and the ultranet headphone mixers make recording a nice experience. However I'm running into driver stability issues these days as well as I'm not excited about buying into a new ecosystem

Thanks...awesome review. It's great that you included the use of outboard equipment. I don't yet use any but wonder if I need to get into it as I use Ableton. Your input welcome here as to whether I should invest in that or need to. Could you do a multi input audio review comparison video without outboards? I assume sound will be of the same quality but need to know this before I buy :)

I'm running some ancient firewire stuff and have been thinking it's time to upgrade. (Latency on my setup is abysmal and at times stops my creative flow) This is a great option, might have to look into financing one. Cheers🤘

The sound is fantastic and the price is very reasonable.

So Mic Insert bypasses the ID48s preamps so the signal goes straight to the converters, like the return jacks on channels 1 and 2 of the ID24/ID44, right?

Yes. But this time it’s switchable

@stephenfleming80303 күн бұрын
OK...but why all the dropouts on the Mic Input? That sounded a lot like latency dropout to me. I know you said the latency was good with Audient drivers, but what are we talking here round trip wise?
@KohleAudioKult3 күн бұрын
Which dropouts do you mean? 🙄
@stephenfleming80303 күн бұрын
@@KohleAudioKult There are dropouts on your voiceover mic channel that occur at least 4 or 5 times during the course of the video. Several other people in the comments are reporting the same thing, so it can't be 'my end'. As I said, it sounds very much like a latency drop out as it's accompanied with a digital click immediately before the dropout.
@mikejackson78805 күн бұрын
Nice, will this be your new interface for your Kreative Devices mobile rig?
@KohleAudioKult5 күн бұрын
Yes. This will be replacing my Evo, I guess
@rjb75694 күн бұрын
Pardon my ignorance, but the DB25 connectors...how are they connected to the equipment at the other end? Individual XLRs, TRS? And some have commented that reamping can be done without a direct box, but is that true, and is the quality as good as when using a direct box, the impedance correct? Thanks, bro. Good review.
@KohleAudioKult3 күн бұрын
You need a D-Sub to “whatever you want” cable. TRS or XLR. You’ll still need a reamping box.

Why hasn't Audient implemented the function of using desktop interfaces (like the id4 or id14) as a remote control for the control room? It's not that hard to make software remote control via usb
@mecks244 күн бұрын
Well, I hope for every new owner that this thing does not run as hot as my ID22, which died years ago. It was almost as expensive as this unit when it first came out.

Well, new Audient interface looks pretty interesting, but I heard some dropoffs here and there in your voice (hope it's just a stupid youtube audio compression algorithms not the converters of id48)🤔

You can ABSOLUTELY reamp with this--even the id44 is capable. You just send from your secondary monitor outs using DAW THRU.
@MartinvonBargen5 күн бұрын
@@lordhammerwind Yep, through 3 and 4 as you say on DAW THRU. Just done some guitar reamps with the ID44 and a Palmer Daccapo.
@dylanjastle5 күн бұрын
@@lordhammerwindI would prefer a dedicated HI-Z output straight from the interface at this price point. Any interface with a spare output ‘can’ reamp. But best practice is to put a device after the line out to bring the impedance up to what a guitar would produce
