Sounds really clean and natural. Post-processing is expected to get a proper freq. + phase balance from all those mics. Being a Drummer of 20+ years I can talk drums forever. So here is my question: what is your approach to recording the bottom side of the snare, if you do so. I have heard from plenty of audio engineers that they do NOT mic the snare bottom, all sorts of reasons. And many that do. When I had access to recording equipment I did a lot of trial and error for snare drum recording technique's. For the bottom snare mic my goal was to basically get the snare wire sizzle and slap back. EQ, Compression, Saturation and a little reverb did well to help me get my snare to "BARK" instead of "CRACK" from bottom side mic. Top side is where I would get the attack, crack and slight ring I am in no way a pro, or even that good to recording in general. It was just fun being able to record music and REAL drums. I completely agree with your statement about getting a great sound in front of the microphone. Its too easy to use sample replacement instead of having a skilled drummer put his all into a great performance, nicely tuned drums and time put into microphone placement and such. I want to hear and play real drums, not a computer doing all the heavy lifting. Awesome video thank you. I look forward to seeing your approach to recording the bottom snare side. Thanks again, CHEERS!

Well, you right that the bottom Snare mic isn’t that important. It really depends on the snare. In this case it was usable, sometimes it just sounds terrible. It’s never really essential for my snare sound.
