Kohler Sterling products have been around for quite a few years and are of excellent quality. I wouldn't use anything else for a low cost but premium economical bath install.

By far the best looking surround. I wished you would have made this video 6 months ago 😂 I tried to install the nextile surround. It looked nice in the pictures especially since it allowed real backsplace to go along the backwall, but that system has a MAJOR flaw. The backwall design is funny and takes away from your elbow room due to their storage design on the backwall. Once I realized that, it was returned. Change of plans and went with tile for the whole wall. I lost my storage space on the backwall because its an exterior wall and couldnt do a niche. I will just install corner shelves instead. Had I knew about this product, I would have bought it in a heartbeat and would have been done with this project a long time ago. FML 😂😂

Thank you for the video. Considering this combo for my restroom remodel. The question I have, is what do you do when you have a window on the back wall? Is there a kit you can use for trimming the window?

Very informative DIY. I will be doing this without the tiles on top 😂 because that’s the point of surrounds!…avoid tiling.

Your best video ever. We have 1989 PolyB pipe, during a future repipe we will redo 2 full bathrooms, one with a tub and one just shower. Leaning towards this system in this video. So how is this water proof, where the different wall pieces join together?

Excellent video! Thank you for taking the time to show all of that. I did have one question regarding setting the tub onto the mortar bed. One shot shows when the tub feet go into the mortar. I would've expected the height after settling to have some mortar under those feet, thus affecting the lines you drew on the studs for height yet it seemed not to be off. The only thing I can think of is that the feet actually went through the mortar literally all the way to the floor itself, is that it?
@BathroomRemodelingTeacher8 ай бұрын
Yeah that waffle shape on bottom basically cuts right through when you put pressure on tub. Mortar is then anchored into bottom of tub. That’s why I mention you may want 2 bags of mortar to adjust tub over an unlevel floor. Need more mortar to hold it up 👍

Nice! Ty for showing the adjustments you did with the plumb issues on the sides. I worry about the pro-press manual tool - would you be ok using it between joists on site? Or do you think for situations like your video where u can stage your pro-press cinching on a work bench ahead of time (when you can't use pex) it works great (and you save 2k from buying the battery version)? Again this was excellent. I really was wondering about those Sterling kits in the plumbing isle. This whole 'Kohler package' experience does seem very well thought out.
@astrofog46388 ай бұрын
I'd pay the additional $$ to have you tile instead though..../grin

The head of the propress tool spins 360. I’m sure there’s many spots it won’t fit, but can probably do most Yeah I’d love to get a ridgid battery one…just hard to justify. For $120 on this it’s really a no brainer 👍

This was a perfect video for me. Although I am having my plumber do all the installation in the first bath we are remodeling, I plan to do the second bath myself. And Kohler Sterling is exactly what we are using per our plumber's recommendation (he agreed 100% with your observation; saying he has installed 100s of tubs and these were by far the best he worked with in the modular category). This is the first of your videos I've seen so I just have to ask. Was the "For all intensive purposes" and intentional play on words given the modified meaning as opposed to the actual expression "For all intents and purposes", which has a significantly different meaning? Just pure curiosity from a former English major.

👍 kind of 😂 I used to say it all the time not realizing the real meaning or phrase, now I just say it and even have a tshirt with it 😂 www.bathroomremodelingteacher.com/merch

@@BathroomRemodelingTeacher Well, if it is any consolation, that is one of the most frequently distorted phrases. I enjoy researching the source of some old expressions and am always amused at how some have become distorted. All it takes is two words that sound similar. I had a girlfriend years ago who often said "It's a hard road to hoe". Even when I teasingly asked her why anyone would hoe a road, she still didn't get the error. Never a good idea to tell a girlfriend that she's been saying a folk expression wrong for years. Still, loved the video. My wife and I literally unpacked the wall sections for our BR yesterday and I pick up the tub tomorrow. Keep creating content and I will keep watching.

I would not install the drain before putting the tub in place. That is a mistake. Put the tub in place first, then the drain, then the p-trap. Dry fit p-trap first. You’ll never get the tub with drain connected to align properly with p-trap if p-trap is in place already. It will be hard to wrestle the tub in place if the drain is connected. Think it through or you’ll have issues…and although YT is good, it has a lot of half baked instructions.
