I really appreciate that you share the disappointments as well as the triumphs; that's not something that I see many other professionals doing. I meant to comment previously on how helpful it is when you specifically point out the different birth defects. It helps me know what to watch out for if I'm buying a new water puppy or doing one of my selection of my tosai from my modest backyard spawn this year .

Very honest points about a couple of the koi with bent heads, but they would be barely noticeable to most koi keepers and they hardly detract with the overall quality of these koi. Would be great to see the nisai Isa showa when they arrive

Imo Isa are one of the top 5 showa breeders along with Dainichi, Ueno, Momotaro and Sekiguchi, although I have seen some lovely examples from Tamaura recently

Isa and Dainichi for me in the very top tier Geoff. All those other breeders you mention are great but I don’t believe they are on the same level as those guys.

Hi, i know with Isa, the sumi is known to show up later.. about 3-4 yrs. Can you tell me how the red is? Does it tend to develop more or disappear more with age? If the red isnt crisp lines and looks faded, does that mean they are losing that red color or developing it?

I’d really have to see a picture but Beni doesn’t develop like Sumi. As in it won’t come and go. If it fades it will likely go and never come back.

Great video, really enjoyed watching that. You mentioned about the filtration on the 3500 gallon pond that these were raised in, just wondering what sort of % water you are changing a week as I’m assuming you are feeding plenty to get the high growth rates. Keep up the good work with the videos 👍

On this particular pond it is topped up daily form what is lost by the drum cleaning. As a percentage I don’t know what that is but I only change more of the pond is in need of it.

Of course it’s kindai. Just because it has equal 1/3 of each colour it definitely fits the description of kindai which means modern
