今回の対戦を見て思ったこと。 たしかに、卓球の才能をボールタッチとするなら、これ程才能に恵まれた選手は世界でもそう居ないかもしれない。しかし、持って生まれた才能を体格とするなら、丹羽選手は外国人選手に大きく引けをとっている。その体格差を埋めるために、テクニカルでトリッキーなプレースタイルを磨いてきたのだろう。逆に言えば、体格的にパワー系とかを目指すのは厳しかったのかもしれない。自分の長所を活かすスタイルと、たゆまぬ努力で世界と戦う姿は本当にかっこいい。尊敬しかないです。これからも頑張ってください！

Niwa actually has poor footwork. He also overcommits himself to stepping aside to forehand loop or hit from the backhand. He compensates for this by smart placement of the ball. Falck was unable to exploit the gaping holes that Niwa left open.

I feel like when Falck twiddles his bat after serve it throws off his grip comfort just a split second too long leading to unforced errors. I wonder at what point did Falck swear-off inverted rubbers on his forehand and decide to stick to short-pips? Maybe the chicken-wing type of short-pip, loop-slap he uses is easier on his body/back health...i dunno.
