I think that note sounding weird might be because Baekhyun is super chesty hitting that G, while Suho is kinda head dominant hitting the F right after. As far as i can tell it's in tune, so it might just be the timbre of their voices clashing

The thing about that one part in Tempo killed me for a solid year, but now I can't imagine it being sung any other way. I know SM runs like a vocal boot camp so I believe it was 100% intentional but I get it sis!

i have to agree that it's probably intentional because in some other songs of sm groups i notice that there are also some parts of their songs, with either the vocals or the arrangement of music, sounding off

I think it’s nearly impossible for them to not have notice it, I think they probably just let it go for whatever reason. I’ve heard more “I can’t believe” today than I have over the past year🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I appreciate all of her reactions, even the little critique because it's how you know she's being honest and so it makes her appreciation for exo so heartfelt and all of the praises much more valuable. When someone UNKNOWN criticizes someone who has been training since 2006 and been in the industry for 10 years.. And obviously this song has been heard so many times by the EXO members, the producer, composers, before they have released it. They can easily edit it out if there was really an issue. Suho has a very light tone with a very large vibratos touching 2 notes evidently, which may sound OFF for those untrained ears. The note is also considered a Dissonant Melody that’s why those who listens to it for the first time would feel that SUHO is off. As suggestion: First the producer should invite reactors who are classically trained or at least mastered voice education. 2nd the producer should provide good quality earphone if the reactor would be nitpicking and be critical with every note. At least she enjoyed it. Good for her.

The melody that you feel like it's “off”.. It is because of the nature of the song having acapella wherein they have used “CHROMATICISM” or notes that don’t belong to the key. “DISSONANT MELODIES” are also evident. And you need to have a good ear to appreciate the functionality of these tones.

Haha I always love watching her reactions! She’s honest and opinionated (which I think is a good thing). I am fine with the note in tempo and always have been. Like I didn’t need to get used to it because it always felt intentional to me. I’m not 100% sure because I don’t have trained ears but isn’t the way he sang it the same in the Chinese version and lives? Maybe just a stylistic choice so it makes sense that not everyone is gonna like it. Glad she didn’t just keep her thoughts to herself!

In tempo it's not bright enough at that note, bcs "that's the point". SM always use that minor and major in one song at the same time, so sometimes a bright song can also have sad and off tune, and vice versa. You can check it on nct and RedVelvet songs they had a lot some kind of off tunes but it's actually not. Bcs that's the point of making "it" song. I mean in making a unique music, SM sometimes disobeying music rules that making weird and off tune, to make it uniqe. But I appreciated her to had her own opinion about that note, and I watched Tokyo Ghouls and their fashion here is also remind me of them, especially Shu the gourmet ghoul out fit 😂

As an EXO-L to a fellow-EXO-L: thank you for making new EXO reactions, it warms my heart! About that note: I totally get what she's saying, but I do believe it was done on purpose because that piece should have more desperate-plead-like vibe. The brighter note would have made it sound more upbeat, which that particular part of the song isn't, at least for me, I always hear it as a longing plead 😉. In literature it works too, as in any art: break the norm and it will make a stylistic effect and become memorable. So I take it that way with Tempo 🤗

But For suho's i can't believe, he is not singing the melody tho, it's the 2nd voice... like when a group sings and one person sings after the other, the notes don't have to be the same. That is my pov too.. as someone who sings in choir or group, often u get an "off note" but its actually intentional.

I love hearing opinion's from other professionals. I never really noticed suho's part since I don't sing lol but when it comes to Kpop artists in always particular with vocals. And EXO definitely has them. Other groups don't excite me that much. But now I understand what you guys mean. Tempo is indeed one of the most difficult Kpop song out there. But only EXO can pull it off.

The intention with that particular note was eminent. This is a producer decision to make that note "THAT Note". It coincides with the instrumentation.

I don't remember how I felt about Suho's note for the "I can't believe" the first time I heard it. It might have felt jarring to me, I know that part of the song has always stood out to me. And it does so in a good way. Maybe I got used to it. I do know that SM tends to be experimental with things, and they are pretty big company to have let a flat note go to production if it wasn't intended to be there. So if he did sing it flat, they liked it and decided to keep it, or that was always the way it was supposed to be sung. I couldn't imagine the song any other way, but I can respect that she feels it is off. I mean, it stood out to me for a reason, now I know what that reason is.

I love how you noticed the key was a bit off. I like it in particular because I'm a fan of dissonant melodies ever since I learned how to play Gymnopedie. I think it adds a different type of color to the music and expresses sincere emotion.

Tbh she didn’t have an issue with the harmonies, just Suho’s singular line which other reactors would probably be too scared to question. I personally don’t mind the note as you can tell in the video lool but everyone’s ears are different I guess.

She was just talking about that one note. And even if other vocal coaches felt a way about the note, it's very likely they'd be scared to speak on it knowing the type of comments they'd get. Pretty rare to actually see someone point out what they think is a mistake vocally

I love how she's stating her opinion.. that's what reaction should be..well a good fan should be as well. It's either they purposely did that note (to match with the 'don't mess up my tempo' if you get what I mean) you know, when sm being sm. or maybe she's right, the note a little bit off but never mind. Ok I watched it, and he clearly did what she did but it sounded very subtle coz D.O sings right after that...... And the fact that she said they missed it is hilarious coz if she claims to have noticed it is wrong then EXO themselves and the producers would never release it like that....... We all know they record separately so when Suho sung it it's pretty clear of you listen carefully, he completed the note but when you hear them all together his ending note becomes a bgm and D.O's part comes on..... He totally bridged it well and helped in blending Baek's and D.O's together..... So the blending was intentional, he wasn't off, he bridged it.....

You're 100% right about Suho's note. It always sounded off. That being said, SM Entertainment is known for their experimental stuff so I always just assumed the off version was on purpose. They love dissonant notes. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Loved the reaction!!

I respect her opinion but to be honest Suho vocal tone is one of a kind that when you're not familiar to it for you it seems off but it's not. How many years now I've been here on youtibe watching evedy pro reactors and this is the first time hearing this opinion that Suho vocals in part of "i can't believe" was flat or off. And there's pro reactors saying that Suho vocals are unique or there's something with his vocals same with Shinee Onew. So maybe this is why she's saying Suho is off coz she's not used to his vocals or tone.
