The Train Guy

Күн бұрын

The wait of the people is over as the first train sees the light of the day on the much awaited Punalur - Sengottai section. The first train towards Punalur chugged out of Sengottai on 31st of March 2018, after a gap of nearly 8 years.
Train : 06028 Kollam - Tambaram Special via Punalur
Loco : GOC WDG3A #13283 Leading, GOC WDG3A #13114 Banking
The train came to Kollam as 06027 special which was the first commercially operated train in the Sengottai - Punalur section. This train was the first in the reverse direction.
The train departed Kollam at 13.00 hours and arrived at Sengottai by 17.35 hours.
From 2019, the train has been regularised as 16101 / 16102 Chennai Egmore - Kollam Express.
The Chennai Egmore-Kollam Junction Express (16101/16102, earlier known as the Quilon Mail) is a daily train that runs between Chennai Egmore and Kollam Junction in India. It is the successor of 115 years old Quilon Mail, which ran once upon a time in Meter Gauge lines between Madras and Quilon.
Opened on 1 June 1904, the Quilon-Madras rail line was the first line in Travancore. Its official gauge conversion started in 1998 and completed in 2018. On 31 March 2018, the entire Kollam-Sengottai line was opened for passenger train service. The first passenger train was the Tambaram-Kollam-Tambaram special train (06027) that earned Rs 3.15 lakh by carrying 879 passengers against a capacity of 712.
On 4 March 2019, railway started daily service between Kollam Junction and Chennai Egmore by extending Tambaram-Kollam tri-weekly special train to Chennai Egmore and increased the frequency as a daily service. The service was speeded-up by 35 minutes and the number of intermediate stops were reduced to 21 from 25 (Tiruttangal, Pamba Kovil Shandy, Bhagavathipuram, Auvaneeswaram). The daily express train service between Chennai Egmore and Kollam Junction via Punalur, Rajapalayam and Madurai Junction was one of the oldest routes in South India. The service was first flagged off by Travancore Maharajah Mulam Thirunal Rama Varma in 1904 as Quilon-Madras Mail. The service was diverted through Virudhunagar and Manamadurai in 1996 due to gauge conversion works in Virudhunagar-Madurai stretch. Later, the service discontinued in 2000 for gauge conversion works.

The British built the entire railway line in less than two years time (1900-1902). Our Modern-day government took almost eight years to just make it into broad gauge. And think of our politicians who claim the credit for the "timely" completion of the work!
@vineethjoshy4819

There are some sanghis who say it was not the British who constructed the railways in India. Perhaps they think it has been in existence since Vedic times.

@Sahasra Lokesh It was a very educated Sanghi, a teacher of computer science in Kendriya Vidyalaya, who argued with me about the railways. It does not matter for what purpose the railways was introduced, it was introduced by the British. The British using "slave labor" is a new sanghi history. Yeah, there are lot more studies to be conducted regarding the science of vedic times!!! Science and technology of nomadic tribes from Central Asia steppes , shepherds, cowherds tribes, here today gone tomorrow. The ancient India is not vedic Hindu India. It is the Indus Valley civilization of the Dravidians, the builders of urban cities, which is the basis of Indian civilization today.
@vineethjoshy4819
@vineethjoshy4819 5 жыл бұрын
@Sahasra Lokesh Whoever taught me history, it is not a sanghi with cowdung in his head. And I thank god for that. The “celebrated arya-dravida” conflict or Aryan invasion has been proved by the DNA analysis of the 4500-year-old skeleton discovered from Rakhigarhi. THERE WAS NO ARYAN DNA. Sanghis like you went to town and shouted hoarse that this disproves Aryan invasion theory as there was no Aryan DNA in the above skeleton. Bloody fools did not stop to think and realize that it was a 5000-year-old skeleton and not the skeleton of Sushma Swaraj which is sure to contain the ‘Aryan’ DNA. Interpretations or MISINTERPRETATIONS of similar kind, whether it is zero or atom, that you serve out, makes people like you to brag about B2 bombers, plastic surgery, test tube babies, atomic bombs and internet in Vedic period so much so that our first cosmonaut Rakesh Sharma had bragged shamelessly in front of his Soviet cosmonauts that his ancestors had “been here earlier.” His ancestors who were herding cattle and sheep and goats in the steppes in Russia had been in space !!!
@vineethjoshy4819
@vineethjoshy4819 5 жыл бұрын
@Sahasra Lokesh British did indeed use Indian labour, but it was not forced labour. They were paid. In fact, it was the use of Indian labour by the British that helped break the shackles of caste system as the workers were mingling together, too busy to observe any rules of pollution. During the period of the first war of independence 1858, it was during this period there was slavery in Kerala. You will not get these facts in any sanghi library. What wonderful Indian economy did the British destroy? Exploitation of the masses in the name of caste when men were not allowed to walk on the roads? We brag that Padmanabha swamy temple is the richest temple in the world. From where did all those treasures reach the temple? No invader had exploited or totally and utterly destroy the fabric of a peaceful society and divided it into water-tight compartments of caste like the Vedic invaders from the steppes.
