Viewer (Swish) brought up a great point about both of these vehicles. While their files state they have ALL of their weight in their frame, the 74941s stability is superior. The 74760 is still a great stable vehicle, but after testing these again in different scenarios, I have to say the 74941 takes considerable effort to make it tip. Very pleasing and exciting!
@rickydraco14972 жыл бұрын
I feel that the Kolobs (especially 74760) are probably best for hauling the 8 slot semi-trailers. 605R can also do the job pretty well but I feel because of its low height, the trailer's legs hits the ground when there are ups and downs. I love 605R, the utility & roof-rack makes it op, but I don't think it will ever replace 74760 for me!
@NProvince2 жыл бұрын
The Active has really helped with the clearances as you've said and it will always be an elite heavy hauler / Special Mission Trailer vehicle. I havent had those same issue with the Zikz, but I can see what you mean

Way to fuckin many people say "op" when really they just mean strong but not overly strong..... How the fuck is it overpowered to have a roofrack? Does it allow the truck to just rip through mud even better?
@Papa_Swish2 жыл бұрын
Even with all the upsides that the flatnose Kolob has, I still prefer the long nose entirely because of 2 things, Ground Clearance and Stability. The central frame of the long nose Kolob sits noticeably higher than the flat nose, so it's less likely to get high centred or juggled around by rocks. Higher GC also makes a noticeable improvement when traversing through water since there's less resistance with more of the truck being above the water. Its stability is also unrivalled, I've never been able to flip it without deliberately trying, which I can't say for the flat face since it seems a little unsteady at times.
@NProvince2 жыл бұрын
Ground clearance yea is a lil higher than the 74760, but the stability properties are exactly the same. All weight is completely in its frame as well. We all have different experiences with vehicles, but both of these are for sure very stable.
@Papa_Swish2 жыл бұрын
@@NProvince You're the expert here, but are you sure? In practice the long nose Kolob is far, far more stable, possibly even the most stable vehicle in the game. It's so stable that it will often just slide sideways down a steep incline rather than tip because the weight is planted so close to the ground. Meanwhile the flat face Kolob feels reasonably more top heavy and never really tries to fight any feeling of tipping once it starts.
@NProvince2 жыл бұрын
@Swish Oh not an expert. Thats Saber. As for the tipping. I think you're talking about Lone Wolfs tests. In my tests and in the files all their weight is set in their chasis. The shortfaced caught an edge with its tire and then rolled. I think the Long nose is able to absorb terrain shock better in those scenarios to resist tipping a lil more. That is very evident and I do agree the Long face is more stable by a large margin. The thing that’s puzzling is the coding is the exact same way, yet the short face has more weight in its chassis. Weird right? I have had the short faced kolob tilted pretty far in tests. I rested in a new area and it’s pretty evident it is still very stable, but the long faced is much more. I definitely value what you're saying and do recommend using the one you feel is better. Alot of these reviews are subjective right, the only objective data is truly the files and numerical values. Tests have so many variables. Thats why I always tell people to just use what you have seen that works. Great comment as always Swish! Thank you for bringing this to my attention. With this knowledge it might sway my decision on which one I’d use.

I love the long nosed Kolob look. I'm also team Azov 73210 and I have left many nose shaped grooves in many maps haha. I found a long nosed Kolob mod that had the fuel tank from the TUZ Warthog on the back and I pretty much scouted the entirety of the Yukon region maps with it. Sadly I believe the mod was taken over by another modder and that fuel tank was removed, but the fun I had scouting Yukon with it is honestly one of my most fond SnowRunner memories.

I recently acquired the Zikz 605R for the first time and discovered that the Kolobs are still the better option with the super heavy trailer. Less dragging /snagging of the feet in my experience. Decided I was going to haul the 8 wooden planks and 5 metal beams required to unblock Aegis in one trip, and I had to call in the Kolob brothers because the 605 couldn’t get there without getting snagged!
@NProvince Жыл бұрын
Very interesting, I believe their saddle height is taller with the active, but I used the 605 there and had little issues. I think most places the 8 slot is gonna snag even with the tallest of trucks. Saber set it up to be painful lol

I specifically bought the 74760 for the missions in Aegis Installation. Funny enough, due to driver error, I did flip this guy while pulling the fuselage special trailer. I guess backing up, jack knifing against a tree and it took it out on my Kolob. That was fun to get him figured out. Big Cat to the rescue and it was already in the area. I actually used the Big Cat as an escort for it all the way to the gateway. Between the Big Cat and the Kolob, there was absolutely nothing that could stop it. I ran into a few rocks that the Kolob had some issues getting over and went back to towing it with the Cat.

The Number II should technically be the best mud tire, I think that's the case for all tires except offroad OHD where Saber decided to suddenly make the number I the best tire for some reason. Personally with these big tractors I like using the number III for consistency. It's the same tire design that is used for the Cabover KOLOB's spare, the Forester, and mud tires on the Voron's/International Twin-Steer. Plus I just like how those look. Between the KOLOB's I pretty much only use the Cabover one mostly. The long nose one looks cool, I like how it looks more then the Cabover. But the long nose just isn't all to great outside Low Range. The always features give the Cabover a huge advantage.

There are two more cons that you didn't mention: 1- both of them hate rocks. They've made for mud, not for rocks. Rocky areas can ruin their power easily (there's a chance to get stuck in the rocks with these vehicles too) 2- their steering may get weak or even vanish in harsh terrains because of their weight distribution(specially when you reach to the top of a hill) . However this more happens if you overload them or attach special trailers to them.
@NProvince2 жыл бұрын
I mentioned the rocks, I didn’t feel it was a huge downside. As for the steering, the weight is balanced across the vehicle so I didn’t feel that was an issue. Most trucks when overloaded suffer with turning, but I felt these weren't hamstrung when turning with weight

I like the 74941 better because if your considering a kolob, you have already given up. The switchable diffs are not so much a problem because I have already given up on speed if I’m considering it. 8:40 talking about the spare tire - I've never punctured a tire on the 74760 during my playthroughs. It's wheels are beefy and can take 100 damage each, so it's not really a problem that the 74941 doesn't have one. And more than that, spare wheel for the flat nose is unlocked only at level 30, being the last useful (non-cosmetic) upgrade that you'll ever unlock.

Talking about engine durability and damage thresholds, I must mention that the base KZGT 490 engine has a critical damage threshold of 30%. So having 70% of durability left it will already be considered as a damaged, turning the engine icon red, increasing fuel consumption and decreasing it's power.

Very true. That happens basically with all engines that are damaged. There are varieties of thresholds as well, that is correct absolutely

@@NProvince I’ve had some interesting experiences in Kola and Amur concerning the MHS1 mud tire. The MHS1 has been considerably outperformed in deep mud by the MHS1 Chained version, often getting stuck while the Chained version just chugs along. @@readmedotexe I believe it could be a combination of both actually. The MHS1 really isnt that great of a tire, the MHS2 is alot better, but Im guessing your using a Azov with the MHS1?
