Kung Jin - A repeated archetype of two previous characters (Liu Kang and Kung Lao) with older cousin issues. Jacqui - Litterally just the younger girl version of Jax. Thats it.

I remember in MK 9, Liu Kang had a playable fight against Shao Kahn long after his chapter had already been over. Why they don’t do that more often I’ll never know. Maybe the people in charge of putting these story modes together are more slaves to order and structure than Hotaru is.

Here's an even better idea for the final chapters: After your proposed Legacy chapter, have an entire 4 battle chapter dedicated to fighting Corrupted Shinnok, but have it transition between all of the Kombat Kids, with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd battles carrying Shinnok's health bar from battle to battle. Essentially, just make it a 4v1 tag team battle against a much more powerful Corrupted Shinnok. That would actually make him somewhat of a threat - all 4 Kombat Kids fighting him at the same time and they still barely win.

As much as I love this idea of yours for the Kombat kids, I think I preffer your MKX wasted plotential video more. Like you said, Cassie was just getting onwed through the story mode and then suddenly she has the power to defeat a freaking a powered up Elder God in the last minute...Yeah, no. Even Raiden, the Thunder God, who got possessed by the fucking Elder Gods had trouble beating Shao Kahn, and Kahn wasn't even in a "super" form for crying out loud. Should have been Liu Kang or another veteran character like you said. Hell, if they pulled a MK Mythologies and made Kuai Liang beat Shinnok like Bi Han did, I'd be damn happy.

@Ero Princess the fuck? See I think I get the core problem with the Kombat Kids now. They have absolutely nothing to help them stand out from their parents. Jacqui is Jax... but with tits. I get that Jax was the man's man of the group but does that mean that Jacqui also has to be the man's man of the group? Because those designs are great. Beautiful but dangerous. Which I imagine that's what Jacqui is supposed to be. Instead we got the most unseasoned character in the cast with a character arc that can be written on a fortune cookie.

another great video! you mentioned the pre-fight banter. I'm certain all of it was written by completely different people than those who wrote the story-mode. these exchanges show that the people behind them know the lore and understand the characters. and the versions of many of them are better that the canonical ones! (non-revenant Liu being arrogant 'cause his winning streak finally got into his head, Lao having conquered his revenant side through internal struggle but other characters not trusting him still 'cause of his long absense, some insights into what has Erron Black seen during his long life... great stuff!) I don't trust in NR's competence to continue some of these plotlines, but damn, even this botched to hell plot has potential if the right preson is writing it. shame you're not their head writer, really mean it:)

Right, while I enjoyed it, here's where MK X really fell apart. This is my personal "wasted plotential" if you will. Kombat Kids consist of: Cassie Kung Jin Takeda *Frost* I feel there wasn't too much to Jacqui in terms of her character, she was just an army brat and not much was said about her and Jax other than that one moment where Jin was being a dick. Frost and Takeda having a romance would also have that Romeo and Juliet essence (overdone sometimes okay) but this further strengthens the bond between the reformed Lin Kuei and Shirai Ryu. I agree Kung Jin should have come face to face with Kung Lao - both of their arcade ladder endings show it so there was no reason to not have it in the story mode and develop both of their characters further. Cassie depended on Jacqui a lot for character development, but at least she has the two of her parents and their divorce to use as a basis rather than just Jax. As stated in the video there could have been a training flashback but I feel this would be too similar to Takeda's fight with Scorpion. Cassie rescuing Johnny from D'Vorah could still remain but I wouldn't have her defeat Shinnok, she's not an established kombatant just yet. I feel the game could have been more focused on the two clans - Scorpion enacts his revenge on Quan Chi but then he decides to call it quits then after Shinnok was release in front of his face? Sub-Zero shows up at the end with the Lin Kuei only to force the Osh-Tekk into retreat, but then contributes nothing against the revenants and Shinnok? I feel Sub-Zero or Scorpion could have fought Shinnok and been the hero, rather than just leaving to the Kombat Kids to fight five revenants plus Shinnok and D'Vorah. This was all just on the spot but I reckon with some adjustments it could have been far better than what it was.

Instead of letting Cassie beat Shinnok, it should be more like Cassie buying time for Johnny to finally break free and recuperate before Johnny beating him. Also, what's that crap about Johnny never being able to access his green powers, but in his moves, there is a yellow mode that allows him to create shadow clones that fight on his behalf. If anything, it should be more like Johnny keeping his powers, but over time it evolved to red, which has more offense and by the climax, he should've had access to his yellow form, in which he can create shadow clones.

I find it weird that I like every new addition to the Outerworld side, but I disliked all of the new character's on Earthrealm's side. Kung Jin is interesting as a character, but he has huge shows to fill in, while the other 2 just feel so underwhelming I won't bother mentioning and Cassie is cocky 19 y/o girl who takes the worst of her parents, with a flat arc that culminates in her defeating a literal god because why the hell not. All in all, the feeling I get is that the Earth's new gen of characters seem almost disrespectful to the main cast, while the "villains" don't try to rob other's place, but compliment them and cooperate (aside from Baraka, he did not deserve that death).

1.) They were objectively bad at their jobs. 2.) The Cage powers were never able to defeat anyone above Baraka now they can defeat an Elder God. 3.) Why would Lao and Liu Kang care about Jin being gay if Raiden was okay with it? That would be like Jesus saying it's ok and priests still giving gets shit about it. 4.) Jin and Takeda are Asians raised in Asian cultures, Jax is pretty ethnic yet all four sound like suburban white kids.

Honestly I wish they had simply made the original Armageddon plan canon, and continued from there. Everyone dies at Armageddon, Taven wins and saves the multiverse, then the new generation of games all take place after it with new characters and new fights. Some things could come back, its not like Shinnok went anywhere, but for the most part its all new characters solving new problems through beating each other to death. And then D'Vorrah could kill anyone she wants because its not like shes taking on people with established legendary status and fanbases. And they wouldnt have to worry about getting old characters so horribly wrong.

the only thing I am getting from this, is that they need to drop the character-specific chapters completely and go full SFV when it comes to the use of characters in the story. The way MK is doing it now is eh. (not saying the sfv story is good, but the use of non-character specific chapters was a good choice on capcom's part)

The story is bad. The structure of the mode is probably the best one out there so far.

Though the fact they didn't showcase MK11 on E3 gives me hope that they actually take their time to hire a competent writer instead of giving their janitor write the story in overtime. Also if they leave Jade out of the game again without explanation or don't include Fujin and Rain in the main roster it will be difficult to convince me to grab MK11. I mean why did they bother to include Fujin, make model to him, give him voice lines, showcase his powers, make him pretty cool and badass... and then never mention him again after chapter one?! Not only it's counter productive but also feels like trolling from NRS. Bad kind of trolling.
