Earlier Too Goans Have Protested Against The Konkan Railway. Due To This The Project Was Delayed For Long Time. There Was Certain Vested Inerest Group, Hidden Agenda, Belonging To Certain Sects Who Were Protesting. In This Even Transport Lobby Was Involved. You Have To Weigh All Pros & Cons Taking All Parameters, Not Just One Single Aspects. The Problem Is Our Growing Population Ills Of All Problems. No One Want To Discuss, Either Because Of Political Ramification Or Religious Thinking. From Just 35 Crores In 1947 We Have Added More Than 100 Crores To It. Every One Talks About Environment & Not On Population Which More Serious, Even Environment Problem Is Directly Connected To Environment.

@@DeRailShow yes exactly that was sanctioned project but his vision as he announced was for the entire 760 Km route doubling. I think if he would have continued to be the Union Railway Minister, he would have surely sanctioned other two sections of Vaibhavwadi Road to Madure and Bijoor to Thokur and later on try hard for the entire route. Being a National expert in Finances and CA by profession as well as a Konkani native, Suresh Prabhu had that vision to do the entire route doubling as early as possible. Now let’s see how many years this project would take

Along with the sections which you have said for doubling I think some more sections can also be included where hardly 1-2 tunnels exists. Sections like Chiplun-Ratnagiri should be doubled at the end since it contains more number of tunnels. I think CEC report will not affect KR's Doubling Process since it would be beneficial for general public.

Single track se pollution nahi hota hai, double track kiya to pollution hota tab forest nahi dikha our single track pe jab alco disel engine jab pollution karte hai tab kya train routes bund kare tab electrification karna hai. Kuch nahi agar rail mantri suresh prabhu hote to double track jarur karte.nxt time doubling karenge tu expenses kam hoga kya?

Jo log doubling ka virodh kar rahe hain unhe puchiye kya wo latakte latakte itna sara time waste karke goa se Mumbai ya Mangalore jayenge kya??? Flight bht mehengi hai abhi bhi isliye chote chote gaaon se jo bhi log padhne naukri ke liye jana chahte hain bade shehron mein kam price aur reasonable time mein unke liye train hi sahara hai sirf. Agar ghar section se doubling karna environment damage hai tab kasara Igatpuri, khandala lonvala section mein 4 lines kaise a gaye wahan bhi to ghane jungle bandar sab hain? MP ke budhni ghat section bhi triple line section hai jo ek national park hai wahan kaise ho gayi doubling Odisha west bengal jharkhand assam mein jungle aur animals bhare pade hain fir bhi wahan se train smoothly pass kar rhi hai without any harm to nature. Ye sab ek political motive se kiya ja rha hai aur kuch nahi. Steel plant ya koi plant waste generate krti hai Jabki electrified railway route almost negligible waste generate krti hai isliye koi harm nahi hogi aur section limit lag di jayegi critical passages pe Plus agar apne notice kiya hoga to ek railway line banne pe uske as pass fir se trees ugne chalu ho jate hain specially rainy season mein greenery apne dekhi hi hogi. Iska virod wahi kar rhe hain jinhe railway ke upar knowledge utna nahi hai

Freight traffic is not much to do doubling on this section, and voh Kasara ghat voh bahut saal pehle ki baat hai abhi log more sensitive ho gaya hai towards environment.

The CEC committee people should have travelled in express trains from panvel to mangalore, maybe then they would have understood as to whether doubling is required or not and how much time is wasted when trains are stopped at loop lines for passing. Looks like the CEC made its report based merely on statistics.
