As a long time American K-Pop/Drama fan I'll never understand why Korean Netizens & Press are so hung up on blasting the most mundane "scandals" (like so 'N so were caught holding hands...Gasp!) while being eerily quiet when it's something as big as the "Burning Sun Scandal". Most of the time I would just role my eyes over this type of "Drug Scandal" because for me it's just pot & it has to be something worse for me to even raise an eyebrow over it; but because of the massive Witch Hunts that resulted in several deaths of innocent people I'm all over this. Poor T.O.P, he's just an easy target because he is one of the few that got caught, for real, in a very wide cast of a net that was thrown because of government incentives... where as others made the police & press look like fools & of course they want to pretend that it never happened by hyper-focusing on the one that stuck. So, to my fellow International Fans, as eye rolling & stupid as this smear campaign sounds (& Is!) to us there is a whole lot more to it then just T.O.P doing "drugs" or it being a "serious crime" in Korea. There are things way deeper & darker to this that require looking into seemingly unrelated issues. Be sure to show T.O.P love & support because he deserves to be treated as a Human Being... even though "Korea" has ostracized him for the most part we don't need to follow suit.

International fan fan here! He did a great job and stop the hate on him. Why does Korea want to dim his light so bad when there are other actors that fell into worse crimes than him. He didn’t hurt anyone.

I’m glad that his new western fanbase will support him. He’s always had a decent western fanbase but now with the success of squid games s2 he’s gained a lot more. I’ll never understand how knetz still give him such a hard time, meanwhile im the west no one cares. There’s worst on the cast to throw a fit about. I’m happy he’s doing well. Only wish the best for TOP.

South Korean netizens have overestimated their importance, especially considering that Netflix is a globalized American company. For every hater in South Korea, there are six who will love him in the U.S. This is even more evident when you take into account the rest of the world combined. Big Bang and TOP should further their careers and venture beyond South Korea. They are at a stage where 52 million people no longer reflect their status.

I feel so bad for him, the punishment definitely doesn’t fit the crime. He’s so wonderfully talented, I hope he finds the love he deserves. He did an AMAZING job in SG2! A lot of their negative reviews from Korea were published within minutes of the series being released… meaning they hadn’t even got to his scenes yet as he doesn’t appear until episode 3!

Leave him alone he get treated worse than a REAL criminal. He don’t have a good life because people hate him. Poor T.O.P😢

Ostracized and harassed for drug involvement rumors while burning sun ppl walk free after committing SA and other illegal acts. Why is there so much hate for TOP when actual criminals are given a slap on the wrist and let go with little to no consequences? It doesn’t make sense

I wish TOP all the best. I thought he did a great job performing his role. I thoroughly hated him, which made his performance even more convincing. He deserves more support.

If his only country hates him, it's not like the whole world hates him. T.O.P doesn't need to approach or apologize to those haters, haters can hate all they want, but honestly they are just hating themselves because they can't be T.O.P That's why he is called T.O.P, because no one can drag him down.

I don’t understand why people keep doing this over and over again they be acting like no one makes mistakes not even themselves. STOP HATING! Plz help stop this crap so another artist don’t take their life because of the extreme hate!!! We have lost enough no more!!!!💔

Anyone hating him and not those with far more grave offenses need to have a reality check. I feel so bad for what he's had to go through. Seriously, let it go already. The man paid his dues and almost unalived himself. Please, leave him be. Sending hugs to him from the US. 🫂

I really loved TOP’s role as Thanos, he had such a unique character and was super fun to watch. The Korean netizens are really dumb not to acknowledge that. The hate train is so bizzare and reflects their limited conservative thoughts

The hate he gets from Korea is purely cultural and not due to his performance lacking. His character and performance were among the standouts, and I haven't seen anyone who wasn't in Korea say otherwise. In US, his past issues would've been an inspirational story. Just look at RDJ.

I can’t believe the online bullying that is aimed at idols and actors. It’s far more disgusting than anything T.O.P did. Those people should be ashamed of themselves.

In my opinion Thanos was the best character in the whole of squid game season 2. He made the whole series way more hilarious and without him, season 2 would've been bland . Even though T.O.P was a criminal i believe that he deserves another chance keeping his past and mental health in mind. He did apologize and receive punishment for his doings.

In most states in America that specific "drug" is perfectly legal and even used as medicine lol Korea is wild for thinking that is more serious than SA
@neoo979514 сағат бұрын
People forget that there are some actors on the show who have crimes in the past.... I don't want to say that one crime is worse than the other. Nevertheless, we can still judge how a person dealt with their offenses. T.O.P has faced up to his crimes and admitted more than he should have... In my opinion, that can be forgiven along with the fact that it was due to his poor mental state. After all, T.O.P only endangered himself... Just to clear up all the criminals in the series Season 1 + 2: Lee Jung-Jae: DUIs and assault O Yeong-Su: sexual misconduct/assault T.O.P: substance abuse Song Young-Chang: convicted of underage prostitution Not a criminal but also a disgusting act: Park Sung-Hoon: shared a cover parody of the show in his Instagram stories featuring a parody with nude Japanese actresses

I'm glad the director of SG decided to defend TOP. The season was a great success. F those SK miserable media and netizens who can't let go of a man smoking weed 7 years ago, he paid for the "crime". Let the man live his life and thrive.

Only in Korea do the people like gang up on somebody who did something like drugs or sex assault and won't forgive. Other countries do forgive after a public apology and won't make it a big deal then. But of course, sexual assault will really take time to forgive. Knets are really weird on this issues 😂

In 2019, during T.O.P last day of mandatory service & discharge, medias storm his work place, releasing thousands of articles attacking him criticising his clothes, hair, car and everything for no reason. So during his discharge, TOP with fans decided to meet in secret place, and they together clowned the medias, leaving reporters standing for hours alone thinking TOP will get out at any moment to answer their stupid hating questions. When in fact TOP already out greeting hundreds of fans and gave them gifts. Since then, the media pushed more of their hating narrative against him, even when Squid Games 2 isn't out, they have already released articles saying his performance was bad, just to destroy him. Their plan failed. So now that TOP is praised by the world for his performance and many regular people from the world started judging Korean medias harshly for the treatment given to TOP, they are backing up.

I didn't even realize T.O.P was going to be in Squid Games, now I gotta watch I love him! I hate he is still getting so much hate when he didn't participate in Burning Sun and has always kept his image pretty squeaky clean. I just hope he isn't paying attention to this nonsense. I hope he continues to live his best life.
