It was and it’s funny people criticized Step Back for being sexist when Cheer Up is very sexist. Even the song about a man being honest about his feelings was so nice and unexpected, until the part where he has to “be a man”. That’s blatantly sexist and I refuse to listen to it because as a man, my feelings are just as valid as anyone else. And it’s sad fans (because most Kpop fans are female and apparently they only matter; pathetic).

@@ShineBright506 I definitely agree with you. I mean Red velvet totally owned 2017. They topped the girl group brand power that year. I think in 2017, mnet and SM relations were softening up, I mean SM artists perform at mama that year, and Red velvet even won best female group. Red flavor made such a big impact, it played everywhere in South Korea, and even the president made a speech and declared it as the national Summer anthem of Korea. Twice might've won because they have a bigger fandom, but quality wise I don't know if it's because the jury clearly has been biased with JYP, I don't get why Signal won, like music wise Signal is not a better song than Red flavor, and the best female dance went to knock knock, again why??? Literally Red flavor's choreography went viral all over Korea, like people including idols and celebrities danced to and covered the hell out of red flavor. In terms of charts, twice might've done better, but iconic wise, if we're talking about songs and dances that had a long lasting impact and that aged better, Red flavor in my opinion, if this world was fair, could've swept.

I like how people think that, but look at Cheer Up and doesn’t think it’s just as bad. Even in the lyrics, it kind of goes against the positive message of honestly in relationships to be a song that literally is about a guy not being “man enough” to speak his mind. And I hate that because I liked the song, but as a guy, I don’t appreciate songs that insult my feeling and such. i think sticker 's hate was just blown out of proportion . like it is a bop if you pay attention to their vocals and rap verses rather than focusing on just the flute .people just focused on the ''flute part'' of the song and dragged the whole song for just nothing other than that. but at the end , there are people who love that song because of the flute and there are people who just dont like NCT or SM 's style of music in general.

Honestly, I hardly notice the flute once the vocals start. The vocals are so good that the flute is almost an afterthought for me. It also seems that those who hated the song were vastly outnumbered by those who loved it. There are numerous much-loved songs by major groups that I find unlistenable, but I wouldn’t call the songs “crappy” or the groups “unnecessary.”

Okay i think my opinion is a little different from others about war of hormones. I loved the song. The lyrics is exactly what the teen guys(hormonal) think about the opposite gender...I know that girls have very vivid thoughts about guys too in their peak hormonal phase...I agree that it could be offensive (i personally did not find it offensive)...im glad that they acknowledged how everyone felt about the song and learned. If anyone does not agree with my opinion its totally fine....everyone has different takes on lyrics.

I don't get why Army's don't want to understand that BTS isn't perfect and then go search for the weirdest excuses for their obvious mistakes. "War of Hormones" IS mysogistinc tho. Justifying or excusing, objectification and over sexualization of women by men through saying stuff like "But Boys will be boys" and "Men have hOrMoNeS, so it's not their fault" needs to die, that's just bs. Women are human beings with rights, needs and feelings, they are not just empty s*x objects just existing for men's pleasure. Stop trying to excuse shit like that, it's disgusting and disrespectful towards women. There for women's hatred for this shitty song was valid. BTS were rightfully criticized for this bad song. "21 Century Girl" was a way more respectful and better way to express their appreciation for women, without over sexualizing and treating women like sex objects only existing for men's pleasure. So please get this crap right out of your head and arrive at 21st Century, women are human beings not sex objects!

I get what you’re trying to say but I think what gets many people upset is that even though it is how teen boys may think about girls at that age, it’s not a mentality that should necessarily be encouraged and hyped up the way it seems to be in the song. Hey, war of hormones is a bop ngl but I think people’s distaste for the lyrics are valid. The boys and big hit apologized and I believe they even made 21st century girl as a result (don’t quote me on that though)! We ended with another great bop with a great message!

The structures of the songs are similar but the songs aren't in the same genre. D4 is way more electronic/EDM than HYLT(which is more hip hop based and melody). For the statue case, at least they removed it and it has nothing to do with the song and the girls. I don't know if u are new to kpop or not but most of the kpop stans know YG family has been using weird alien language for over a decade such as badabingbadaboom(BP),boomshakalaka(BigBang),Bomratata(2ne1) and so on. Lastly, look at in the sky its a bird its a plane is a famous Superman quote meaning how BP is strong and powerful which makes sense cuz the song is about how ppl are trying to drag the girls all the time and yet they are still at the top.
