Got my wife the GB40 (6.0L gas / 3.0L Diesel) to keep in her KIA Optima. She was at work and the battery on the work pick up was dead. They tried jumping it with another vehicle and it would not turn over. They put the little GB40 on it and it cranked on the first try. One of the best items you can buy to carry with you in the trunk or behind your seat!

The people who claim noco boost dont work simply dont understand the low voltage battery/ safety feature, dont understand the override feature and lastly dont realize the pack times out in 60sec. You dont wait 5 mins or longer to try start car....hook up maybe 15 to 30 sec most to start

I have the gbx155 and it was one of the best purchases I’ve made for my service truck! I work for CAT and it can start a track loader and a 980 loader and any skid steer. It started my buddies 6.0 power stroke that the batteries were at 6 bolts like it was brand new batteries. This thing is awesome!

Just replacing the micro-USB with USB-C charge ports is reason enough to get the GBX over the GB. 9:00 Remember, when you use the Override it disables _all_ safety features like reverse polarity protection and no voltage protection. Turn the booster off before disconnecting it.

One thing I’d like to add is the charging of the GBX series, a 60W to 65W AC charging adapter charges a fraction of the time a 2.5W - 10W AC charging adapter would take to charge, I bought the NOCO 65W cigarette lighter charger and a SlimQ 65W AC adapter cube and keep it all together with my GBX45 in a case, I got the SlimQ 30W AC adapter cube for my girlfriend’s GB40 to keep it together in her Honda.

I'm not sure if the GBX models will eventually replace the original GB series but if I were in the market for a GB150 I would pick one up before they phase out the GB's. For me, the voltmeter built into the unit is better than all the other upgraded features. Without it you would need to carry a separate multimeter to check the voltage and it's nice to know what the actual voltage of your battery is. It's too bad they all don't have this feature.

Also the 12v direct charging from the lighter socket and 12v out to power a 12v tire pump is a major advantage in my opinion.

Here's an update after a year of ownership of a GB70. My first full charge lasted about 9 months where I boosted about 10 to 15 times. In this period of time the power level dropped to 25% and I didn't want to let it go any lower so I recharged it. It did, however, boost perfectly while the level was at 25%. I am quite happy with its performance so far. OAN, once while in a parking lot(before I bought the GB70) my battery was drained after listening to the radio too long. I had to wait until most of the other cars left to get a boost from another driver because I was parked nose-in. With the GB70 this is no longer an issue because you don't need to maneuver a car into position for the cables to reach the battery. A hidden benefit that is worth its weight in gold. I, too, have used my booster to power my 12V tire pump and to revive dying cellphones. So many uses!

I own both, work on diesel semi trucks, A26 and x15 mostly , and they both work really good to jump start them, gb 150, is not as strong but the battery lasts longer and when jumping it only gets to 12v ish, and with the gbx155 the battery doesn't last as long but it f****** jumps up a complete dead truck with ease. It gets the truck up to 16v, really love the gbx 155 , and equipped with a 60w fast charger it's ready to jump again in about 2 hours full charge

The only thing I don’t like about the noco product is they don’t put the CCA in the fine print. They advertise their “peak” amps, just like most the competitors, but at least the competitors do put the CCA somewhere. The cold crank amps are ultimately what matters. The peak amps, are basically useless and inaccurate.

Something I would like to know from these reviews is how many boosts a full battery can bee expected to make. I know it will carry, but the marketing for the GB150 says 80 boosts but something tells me it would only do like 10 if that. They omitted the how many boosts each one can do on the new GBX series which I found odd. Why did they get rid of the voltage meter though, and why don't these come with fast chargers included? I'm a AAA battery tech. Most of the tow truck drivers carry NOCO jumpers. I personally would recommend the Yesper Armor over a GB70. It's half the cost on Amazon and it's more powerful. I carry it with me on the job to specifically to jump dual battery diesel trucks. I've seen the GB70 all over the shop when I was a Chrysler tech. They're ok for casual use but won't last long with extended use. For "Price vs Performance" I would take Yesper over Noco any day. I don't need all the fancy features. Just jump the vehicle so we can all get on with our lives.

@@nausticaz6845 Thanks for your recommedation on the Yesper Armor. Can you provide a recommendation for AGM batteries for a Porsche? I did replace an OEM Porsche battery once which very costly(did not have a choice, battery conveniently died on my way to the dealer for service). This one did not last maybe max 3-4 years. The current one I have was purchased from AAA. Surprisingly it's been almost 7 years in Jan. Your thoughts please.
@nausticaz6845
@nausticaz6845 2 жыл бұрын
@@edchang9521 Almost 7 years? That's great! Is it an AGM battery? I work in southern Arizona and you're lucky to get 3 years out of a battery. Batteries are big business here in desert climate. AGMs are made to last longer and handle more abuse (duty cycles). More and more modern vehicle are going to AGMs because of all the computer components and fancy features. If your vehicle has the "Auto Stop/Start" feature, you can be certain that the manufacturer requires an AGM battery. How long a battery will last varies. It all depends on how the vehicle is used so it's different from individual to individual. According to the battery gurus out there, a vehicle should be driven continuously for 30 minutes at least 1 time a week in order to maintain a charge on your battery. So if you're the type of person who doesn't drive often...or someone who only takes short trips when you do drive, your battery isn't going to last as long as someone who drives daily and has longer commutes. Hopes this info helps.

7:55 - It's really interesting with some products. They make the new series worse than the old one. For this product: The new series could have a display that would have the voltage information, and when the device was not connected to the battery, it would show how much battery is left in % (0% - 100%). Pressing the ON button, the screen would show how much battery is left, for example: 85%. For example, if the battery only has 4 volts, you know that your car shouldn't shut off because it might not start again on its own, and you'll have to jump start again at the intersection, etc. 🙂 Because there is no information about volts anywhere in the car, and seeing how many volts the battery has on the starter is useful information. The battery will not be fully charged immediately if it is almost completely dead.

Great explain, thank you. A this "X" series has accurate marking? I am planning on GBX45 (up to 6.5L) for my 5.7 sedan - should it work?

It’s always better to get bigger than you plan on needing since most of the time it’s a completely dead battery or even a bad battery.

@@KoonTrucking Wow, thanks for pointing this out! I'm facing a similar problem with a completely unrelated product ( Dji Ronin-M camera gimbal ) where the battery chip is programmed not to accept a charge after dropping below a certain voltage... So even if you open it and charge the cells using an RC charger, it won't work unless you flash the battery chip... I will look into the GB series or another brand then

So I just bought a gbx155, unboxed it and plugged it into my Samsung fast wall charger. The headlight comes and stays on while it's plugged in? My guess is it's too low on voltage?? I'll try the car charger like you say and see what happens. Any suggestions or information???

This may sound dumb, BUT, say I buy the GBX75, there's no possibility that I could damage a battery on say a Nissan sedan or something similar? Obviously they can charge a big diesel but I'm curious if that is too much power for a smaller car battery. It would be super handy to keep the bigger jump starter to help out others, especially those with a big truck and such.
@KoonTrucking

No it won’t hurt it. You can do small things with a big jump box but you can’t do big things with a small jump box. I’ve jumped my mower off with my gb150

They are a little under rated cause I have a gb 40 for my 4cyl Tacoma and it’s rated for 6.0 gas and I use it to jump my 6.8l v10 atleast once a month for the last year but it takes the whole charge lol that’s why I’m looking into upgrading so much don’t have to charge it ever time I use it on the f350

Even the small GB40 is enough for most cases. The bigger ones must be real powerhouses! I just wonder why Noco skipped the volt meter from the new GBX 150. It is very useful.

It rubs me wrong that they finally advertise their latest GBX series closer to the actual rated specs. The Chinese are famous for way overrating their products. And it appears they are getting cheaper, with fewer indicators on the front panel, and offering the nicer zippered soft case only as an upgrade at an additional cost. But they get a lot of good reviews still.

I bought the GB 150 4000a and the only time I used it worked great. I was surprised how long it held a charge. Pulled it out s couple days ago and it was on 25%, gave it a try on a Toyota but it went straight to zero. Tried to charge it and it flashes red on the 25% charge light and will not charge. Tried to use cigarette lighter in my Dodge Diesel and it killed both my batteries! Now I need a jump!! Unless they fixed these issues that I'm having along with everyone else on KZbin I'm not buying another one. They don't last.

Depends on what he’s trying to jump off. I would definitely recommend going with the GB series noco vs the GBX because of the charging issues the GBX has. If he’s just jumping off a regular truck or even a diesel truck like a 6.7 or 7.3 then the GB70 is what I would go with. If he isn’t jumping off a big engine like that a gb40 would work

I think it has a chip to prevent that from happening. You even have to press the over ride button on a dead battery if it doesn’t read voltage. Pretty sure the safety features would prevent it from charging at all
