I think the reason why the "new updates" myth tends to persist is because Nintendo is still pushing out *_very minor_* bug fixes when necessary. The only other post-2.0 content update of note was the addition of all the Zodiac figurines for upcoming years. So yes, Nintendo is still updating New Horizons, but not with any new content. They're just making tiny improvements that are pretty much invisible to the average player.

Also the fact they said final major update, not final update. Like did we get 12 major updates, with 2.0 being the last one, or did we get 11 minor but sometimes significant updates before we got one major one (1.1-1.11 minors and then the 2.0 major)? I tend to think the latter, based on the version numbering: major.minor.micro, where the latest patch updates count as micro ones, so major version 2, minor version 0 as we haven’t had any minor updates since the last major one, and micro/patch update 5, as we’ve had 5 bugfix updates since the last minor/major update. For each minor update (i.e 2.1, 2.2, etc), the patch/micro goes to 0, for each major ones (i.e. 3.0, 4.0, etc, which Nintendo said won’t happen), the minor and micro/patch number goes back to 0.

A while back I heard that not having a ladder/jumping pole in your inventory will make it so mystery islands will have the villager completely accessible without those items (ie none of those 3 tiered islands with the villager at the top will appear). It sounds like a myth but I've never tried it.

The “no more updates” only goes for major updates (like holidays.. and.. 2.0) Minor stuff such as adding more to a holiday, or editing existing features. It’s hard seeing so manu people who can’t accept this game for what it is.

I don't know if this could easily be categorized as a myth, or if it's just a question people have, but I've seen (and personally experienced) confusion with the spawning of wasps, scorpions, and tarantulas - basically my understanding is that they have their normal spawn rates on the island if no one is visiting & your gates are closed. They will not spawn at all if you have people visiting (since if they passed out they wouldn't have a designated place to wake up - however if people share an island and play together, wasps/scorpions/tarantulas can still spawn since each player still has their own house they can wake up at). However the confusion is about if no one is visiting but your gates are open. I've read/heard from reliable sources that they won't spawn, but there has been at least one instance where I had my gates open with no one visiting and I got attacked. Another thing which kind of relates to your last video, and I think I commented about this on it, but it's about villagers remembering you on NMT islands. I've heard from reliable sources that in a recent update (one of the smaller bug patches since the 2.0 update) it is possible now for villagers who used to live on your island to remember you. At face value this seems a little odd to me for Nintendo to change something like this in a small update intended for patching bugs/glitches but I didn't immediately dismiss it. However, every villager hunt I've gone on since hearing about this, it's never been true for me - including once when Croque left my island, and when I went villager hunting, he showed up on the first island and did not remember me. I assumed if it had been a long time a villager wouldn't remember you, but it seems that even villagers who recently lived on your island won't remember you either. Whether it's a rumor/myth or I've just been unlucky, it's hard to say at this point, but if it is actually true I would love to see the dialogue from this encounter.

Apparently giving villagers wrapped blue roses (I gave 5) gets them to give you their photo faster, works but not because it's the roses specifically but the value/resale value of the wrapped gift. It worked for me! I finally got a photo I've been trying for for 7 months :D

Here's an unusual rumor/possible myth that I have not been able to prove or disprove yet: Place a Stone lion-dog statue near some trees, and you will never shake a wasp's nest out of the trees that are closest to the statue. I have one that's next to several trees, and so far I haven't shaken a wasp's nest out of any of those trees (but I've only been doing this for a couple of weeks). All it'll take is one dropped nest near the statue to explode the myth, if myth it is. But I can't prove that the lack of nests is due to the lion-dog statue nearby -- could just be a coincidence...

What would happen if you saved and quit inside The Roost café after you had a cup of coffee that would trigger Brewster to give you something? Would he give it to you the next time you entered the café? After your NEXT cup of coffee? The next day? Mail it to you? Would the game prevent you from saving and quitting?

They do, for amounts up to 10k. Anything ABOVE that is when it's up to chance. So if you bury 10k bells, you'll always end up with 30k from the tree, but if you bury 30k, you could end up with 3 times what you buried or just getting the same amount you put in.

One thing I'm curious about is whether the money tree mechanic is still the same. I know that what you said in the video was accurate, but I feel like that last update nerfed the 30% to get three times what you planted. I accidentally deleted my island when I upgraded my switch and I tried planting >10k for a little (weeks) while before I eventually gave up and concluded that the 3x mechanic must be gone now.

Typically, yes. Mystery Islands tend to be hacked Islands filled with items of all kind because trying to actually make an island like that without cheats would be very tedious

Technically, yes? But also no, the game calculates species then specific villager, so if you had 2 cats on your island, your chance of finding a cat isnt increased, but chance of finding a specific cat is because the pool of availible is smaller.

You can force it. If the campsite character wants to move in, there's an option later in the conversations to talk to one of the existing villagers and arrange for them to move out to make room for the new character.
