Yes, I agree with the video I currently live in Korea now and I find that unfortunately I feel within the black community they tend not to be supportive of each other. It can feel like a bit of a competition. And English teachers are usually younger and trying to find friends in your forties can be annoying. But I always have to remind myself about where I come from, Who I am as a black woman.

I'm curious to know if you have noticed any changes good or bad from your first time to your last time? I would think in the areas closest to our military bases or major cities, it wouldn't be as bad as a smaller village, tho I could be wrong.

I'm so sorry you experienced people not being up front with you or apologized for not doing what they should have. I've been lucky to have co-workers who tell me things and look out for me. Even today one of my co-workers wanted to make sure I know we have off tomorrow and I speak Korean. Those people you met were def hiding behind culture, but even Korean people know that's wrong. And as for dating? ha, I think because of my age some men don't even bother approaching me. I've met one guy who has been very kind and honest. But then, I didn't have a good experience dating in America either. LOL I've also noticed that Korean people are so busy with the rat race and they usually have friends from grade school, that they don't even really want to make new friends. Like, real friends. Not just English language partners. This part of living in Korea should be told. Thank you for sharing your experience, hun.
