The lives of Korean actors are full of challenges, and just like K-pop idols, they face a strict set of standards to maintain their flawless image and avoid public criticism. Among these demands, managing weight and appearance is one of the most crucial. Many actors have to drastically adjust their physique to meet the specific requirements of their roles in dramas and films, which, in some cases, can lead to surprising and extremely difficult transformations.

It is actually heartbreaking to me that these talented entertainers are forced to endure such monumental stresses, while living under the microscope of the public's prying eyes. What kills me is those who judge them so harshly are probably committing worse actions than the folks they supposedly love!

Companies need to STOP giving fans so much power over their artists. It’s detrimental to their health, they have so many restrictions, it’s utterly ridiculous. Them putting money above people and that’s horrible. Hold fans accountable for their behavior, maybe they’ll learn their place in the world.

the problem comes from konfuzius philosophy, its up to me, what people have to endure in K. Bowing down 100 times a day, excuses for everything, hitting and violence through parents, chefs -even as adults, body hostilety, no critics allowed, earning little money, staying poor until death, drinking into coma, no health insurance, pressure on kids and teenagers to learn 10 and more hours a day, etc. Kapitalism in SK, Communism in NK, both inhumane systems, no mercy for the individual, only success and having money is important, comparison and competition everywhere together with envy and greed. Its so sad, I feel with the victims of such a terrible system!
@KimThueson

@ the sad part about this is that you find this in all asiasian cultures knowing and learning from watching and reading my heart truly breaks for these people and my hope and prayers are that they as a people will become strong and continue to fight against abuse such as you have afore mentioned. If you really look at the world as a whole many countries face their own struggles and it’s up to us in our countries to use our voices to stand up for what is right and good. I am not by any means an expert but I do feel I have common sense, and that tells me that this kind of thing is morally wrong. You’re correct in your assessment of the many atrocities these people face yet it doesn’t fix their problems. We as human beings all have the innate feelings of right and wrong, but in places such as these we do not use them. Probably because of fear, retribution, lack of know how and so forth. Which brings us back to becoming a stronger individual who is wiling to stand up for what is right and to not be abused by the powers that be regardless what else would you suggest? Doing nothing is going nowhere expecting results. Yet you have to look at it realistically as well, I won’t say all but I will say you have a timid set of people who are intelligent, respectful, kind and loving and the number one thing in these countries to me seems to be respect and so with a big share of people who are also introverted what do they do? Not rock the boat and continue on . That’s why the celebrities, middle and lower class as well as sports players are abused no way of saying no because most if not 85% maybe a little less have to support dad mom grandpa grandma brothers sisters etc etc etc so instead they do what their told from those who stand over them or suffer the consequences which if we are being real could be death is this not the truth? So one of my life’s goals this year is to keep my heart open to these brothers and sisters in a different land and give them all the love and support I can from wherever I am for this is something I can do and it’s free. to you I thank you for all your information which I love learning I pray much success for you on life’s journey and send my love to you also. ❤️

Cancel culture in south Korea industry is really sick. Because artists are forced to be very perfect which it gives them so much pressures. Too sad to see an actors committed suicide after involving in blackmailed case bout prostitution which he didn't involve like people think. He was too afraid of the cancel culture

I would think that a person can still fantasize about an actor, even if they are married. A fantasy is just a fantasy. I would think that suggestion to remain single to preserve fan's fantasy is more dangerous. This could mislead a fan with mental issues into thinking that they have access to these actors. I love Song Kang, I hope that he is dating. He so cute to me, I don't even feel the need meet him. I am already satisfied by is visuals and talent. I don't know him personally.

Zhao Lusi is a recent example. She reports to the media that she has been suffering from depression since 2019. At the time, the Chinese actress was just 20 years old. Also Tan Zianci as example.

Once again the entertainment agencies need to let the artists breathe. No I don't mean drugs or condone violence but the artists should be allowed to date. The requirement for idols and actors to be perfect borders on slavery. What's with the public in SK? Why do they have nothing else to do but wait to jump on any little error that an entertainer can make...

The entertainment industry in Korea needs to look at itself as an outsider interested in watching Korean dramas I have seen That many of these actors and KPop artists are poached at an early age, then once they have them on their books they have no life of their own. In other words they become slaves of the entertainment management system.

I am aware of the entertainment agency having control of their tallent's private lives. I find this practice obscene as ìt is human slavery for profit. I imagine many fans feel powerful when they can cause irreparable harm to the artist. Case in point, Kim Hyun Joong. His life and career were severely damaged by a x girlfriend who falsely accused Kim of abuse. I think a union like the Screen Actors Guild in the United States, together with the best lawyers to support them in a court of law, would give the power of striking in order to retake control of their lives and away from the fans and management.

I kept reading in hopes I wouldn't be the only one to say it. The weight issues are everywhere, the gossip and backlash from media thanks to fans eating up exaggerated reports and twisted stories from a pic that has at least half a dozen possibilities in reality. The fact that a relationship can effect the mannerisms and actions of an actor or actress are just plain human, its going to happen. If one chooses to go against a contract then be willing to accept the crap that comes with it. Agencies are in business to make money, Period cut and dry. The fans are the biggest issue but they are also the ones putting money into the industries pockets. Business is business. However, people will treat people like shit no matter where you go and that Im not ok with. But, hey it's part of the devil you make the deal with. I had a chance when I was a teen to become a hand model in commercials when I was younger. I turned it down because I didn't like the way they have so much control over your life. No thanks that money isn't worth it unless you are willing for a shorter period of time and plan on making it short lived.

I think you'll find in hollywood when actors etc are found to be acting in a scandalous way some very badly whether relationships or drugs etc it is brushed off as pranks, people are paid off to make it go away or they are held up as just having fun and no consequences it is not like this and the 'fans' do not have any say or control as they do in Korea it is a very unhealthy obsessional situation with a lot of the so called fans there

Still I find the mindset of South Korean “fans” of actors/celebrities unfathomable in their zealous OTT opinions on the lives of their object of affection! There are some actors who are (in my opinion) dreamy and sexy and oh so “I wish he could be mine” and daydream and imagine fantasies of said actor. When you read actor xyz married his long time girlfriend, your heart may plummet and you think “oh no” and feel a great loss that he is no longer single …..and no longer available, the fact that he was never available to you doesn’t come into it. You still feel something This is all in my head of course, I know it is imagination but I can still dream. I always have had a good (read vivid) imagination; but this is where it stops. This is where it should stop for all those die hard fans who think they own an actor/celebrity. Those creepy so called fans who sound very much like stalkers to me don’t have a say in how their idol acts, lives or loves.

This toxic environment is created by production companies, talent agents, and the music and film industry itself. The toxic fan culture and cancel is a side effect of a bigger problem of workers' rights. There is a slave master relationship between employees and employers in becoming a growing problem in most capitalist societies, but it is more obvious and a bit worse in South Korea.

Yet I hear the business work culture is a strong drinking culture. If a person declines to drink or go out for company dinners it's looked down on. Is this still true? Also actors are not un feeling dolls. Show me any young person who has never tried drinking or smoking cause the want to be like an adult. And even actors have political views.

On the one hand as far as dating etc is concerned I understand that the agencies want the K pop stars and actors to focus on their work, on the other hand this adds to the horrendous craziness of the 'fans' who seem to thin k they control the celebs lives which is absolutely abhorrent these men and women from a young age are under so much pressure etc so to then almost hand over control to these lunatic fans who seeing some of the hidoues things they say and do are not fans because if they were they would only want the best for the stars and the fact that the agencies admit that they don't want them to date because what they think that the fans delsuion that they might one day marry one of these guys is healthy??? The drink and drug thing 100% TBH in the Western film andmusic industry the use of illegal substances and excess alcohol along with some pretty scandalous behaviour is somehow thought to be some kind of badge of honour it is not so these are the two extremes. Yes scandalous behaviour should be discouraged and if necessary some kind of penalty clause in a contract would be acceptable however this seems to go beyond that at times. While the Korean and possibly other Asian countries have this extreme approach I think maybe they might want to rethink some of it especially the dating thing because so many actors etc seem to end up alone either until they are quite a lot older than is really helpful or for ever, from that point of view this control is far beyond that which should be tolerated controlling peoples private lives like that is not very healthy for anyone.

This is slavery and their personal lives show be on them. It seems that the only thing that matters is how much money the can make some business. I don't see anyone caring about the high suicide rate amongst celebrities. Maybe they wouldn't be taking drugs and drinking if they weren't lonely. Yet Korea is about to spend a lot of money to get people to nit be lonely. Maybe they just want to feel like they have a life outside of work and loneliness. Question, is the people behind the agencies, TV programs, movies and etc allow to have relationship or get married. Maybe it would be fair if their lives resembled the life style that they want their employees to live and then maybe they might understand how it's truly hard for them.
