I used to get instant seaweed soup mix at my local Asian store. don't know what was exactly in it but I loved it! They no longer carry it so I'm eager to try this out. btw, I found the brown type of shirataki-- not the noodles, but a slab-- and, curious, I bought it. To my shock, the texture was a dead ringer for calamari.

I love Miyeokguk! I first saw a recipe for this on Mangchiis channel. So I based my vegan version on this. She does use quite a bit of garlic in the soup aswell, which is awesome. Also, in addition to the shitake mushrooms I like to add soaked, marinated soy granules or chunks of pea protein to substitute the beef. This makes the taste even more satisfying for me. But I love the idea to add perilla seed powder. I know it from other korean soup recipes and absolutely adore it now. 🥰 Thank you so much for this tasty recipe! 😘

Yum! I love seaweed! In Japanese, that kind of seaweed is called “Wakame”. I love it in miso soup. This looks so easy to make. I will make this as soon as I can get to the Asian market.

Looks like I need to drag my booty to HMart! Idk if my local Korean store has the flour I will have to check there first 🤞🏻🤞🏻 this looks absolutely delicious! Sadly I’m allergic to most seeds so no sesame oil for me, but I’m excited to try this! I have everything else but the flour! So I can’t wait!

Oooooo I can't wait to get to H-Mart for that soup soy sauce and perilla seed flour! In the past, I will rinse and squeeze the seaweed because I do find it fishy, then stir fry some garlic in sesame oil, stir fry the seaweed, add water, wait for it to boil, and then add soy sauce, mushroom seasoning, and yondu. I enjoy it but I think it is missing that fatty element! So excited to try your version. ❤

Hey Rose! This soup looks yummy and I am poised to order the mushrooms, seaweed, Korean soup soy sauce and the Perilla Seed powder ... all from Amazon. Will you be cooking more with these ingredients? I am only cooking for one and would like to use the rest of the ingredients with the soup and/or other of your delish Korean dishes. 🥰

Among the food culture of Korea, special things that distinguish it from the food culture of other countries. // 1. Perfect lacto-vegetarian food represented by Korean Buddhist temple food. And this diet began in AD 372. 2. An endless variety of soup dishes represented by ‘Sinseollo’, Korea's finest cuisine 3. Kimchi: Vegetables fermented with animal protein represented by cabbage kimchi. In the past, only Koreans made and ate it. There are over 800 types of kimchi. 4. Jeotgal: A fermented animal-based sauce made from seafood. In Korea, there are more than 140 different types of salted fish. 5. Ssam: It means wrapping all the ingredients you want to eat in various leafy vegetables represented by lettuce. However, unlike burritos, you have to swallow them in one bite, so you need to adjust the amount of ingredients to be wrapped appropriately. 6. Herbal Medicine Ingredients : Herbal medicine ingredients are not only eaten for special diseases or health, but are also often used for general home cooking. For example, as ingredients for Samgye-tang, Mulberry, Tree Aralia, Eleutherococcus Sessiliflorus, Mongolian Milkvetch, Korean Angelica, Ginger, Jujube and Korean Ginseng are used. 7. Namul : South Korea is the country that eats a lot of dishes made with only vegetables without meat and seafood protein. Namul are foods made with one edible plant as the main ingredient. Do not mix other vegetables. Examples of the types of Namul include Shepherd's Purse, Stringy Stonecrop, Korean Angelica-tree, Korean Wild Chive, Butterbur, Bracken, Doellingeria Scabra, Bamboo Shoot, Chamnamul and Cirsium Setidens. 8. Cold Noodles: Korea developed the world's first cold noodle dish, and it is the place where the whole nation began to enjoy eating. The reason is that the summer is hot and the water in valleys, rivers and wells is clean.. According to literature, the history of Naengmyeon goes back to the Goryeo Dynasty(918~1392). Besides Naengmyeon, Kong-guksu, Mak-guksu, Milmyeon, Kimchimari-guksu, Bibim-guksu, and Jjolmyeon exist in Korea. // Etc... Korea shows a distinctly different food culture from neighboring countries in Far East Asia (China, Mongolia, Vietnam, Japan).v

The problem with all the seaweed stuff in the stores is that it clearly states it may contain crustaceans which really puts me off.

A lot of foods say may contain eggs or milk but they really don't. It just means that it is processed in a factory that also has those ingredients so have to say it incase someone has severe allergies.

looks so good! I have dried kelp at home can I use that? And any substitutes for the ground perilla? Could i use ground sesame seeds? ❤️❤️
@elkedekruif1064
@elkedekruif1064 11 ай бұрын
If your dried kelp is like the sort for soup stocks then it is NOT the right sort. The stuff you need really looks kind of 'shredded', while Kelp for soup stocks, comes in huge 'sheets' or precut squares. But ground toasted Sesame totally works to substitute the perilla powder. Perilla is actually wild sesame if I am not mistaken. (smart ass mode off.) Have fun cooking. 🥰

This variety of seaweed is called wakame. It's very tender when rehydrated, so if your kelp is very tender, it could work.
