Yep, that sounds like a normal black family to me!!! LOL, though I am not Caribbean, I do think that it is a general consensus between all black families that if you bring someone special around your family then that means that what you have between you and your significant other is pretty serious. That being said, when you meet a black family as the significant other, they will automatically treat you like one of their own. This means you are invited to all of the discussions between family members, you are invited to all of the family gatherings, and you get to go through all the good and bad times together knowing you as a significant other has your partner's full family support. Enjoy it Sanghoon, being apart of a black family is a special connection you can't find anywhere else!!! Edit: this is a generalization of black families in America. This is not me trying to say that all black families think, feel, or act the same way. Hope this helps!

Not true where i live.Im black and it depends who it is, less open to whites than anybody else.But if the other family isnt open my family will give it a side eye.Like your not better than my family member and i think most black families have certain things that others arent privy too they have to have trust first.

@@kookiec3741 thanks for the response. I agree that the level of trust has to be earned by significant others before a black family automatically starts treating you as if you're one of our own. Similarly, I understand from personal experience that some families are not privy to other races joining their own family dynamic. However, I just wanted to put emphasis on the fact that a black family is full of a lot of support, love, and connection through bonding. However, my post was already a little bit long and I didn't want to have to put all of this information in one initial post. LOL!! Again, thank you for bringing up a different perspective that other people might not have known about and for responding to my original post.

Girl I'm sorry but that's not true. None of my Caribbean friends are married, they just stay with the guy they've been dating for years (even if he's cheating) , so I don't think the person has to be special or serious to be brought around family. A lot of Caribbean people date out so they are open minded but a lot of Caribbean people are very judgmental (not welcoming)

Third, I am talking about my own experiences with other black families I have met as well as my own. You can refer to my previous post to kookie c where I agreed with her comments she made. Also, I did make an edit to the original comment I posted talking about how my first comment was a generalization. I apologize if my original statement was taken as me being ignorant or offensive. Lastly, I appreciate your additional comment, and thank you for your different perspective.
