Omg I went to Korea and stayed in the Hongdae area for around a month but boy I can relate soooo much! The random English and sudden English lesson in the middle of the club (even though I can speak Korean and was speaking Korean). The guys trying to show off in front of me when we go to 노래방 by rapping 🤦♀️. The DJ’s and the assumption that I can “dance” was soooo annoying. It doesn’t help that I’m from NYC. I got the “New yorkkkkkkk” from Alicia Keyes and Jay-Z. And the classic “your face is small” like bro, no my face is actually average size.

I understand the twerking so much. I'm US black and I don't twerk a lot in public for this reason. Some clubs don't care in the states, but in a lot of places overseas, it's clear they see it in a extremely sexual way. It makes me so uncomfortable. And they don't seem to understand most black people are only ok with speaking black English around other black people. That's more funny to me than awkward...
@PrometheanFlame4 жыл бұрын
It is like a stereotype of black vernacular English/African American vernacular English which is a group of regional dialects spoken among black people in the US. The way it is depicted on TV is usually fake or stereotypical. Most nonblack people, and some black people (outside the US) don't understand it. You have to grow up speaking the dialect

It is frustrating when people start to typecast you and make/say stupid and random remarks/stuff that's not in keeping with your thought pattern and way of life. I just smile sometimes and go along with it or simply walk away. It is too exhausting to attempt to explain anything let alone be rude but don't get me wrong if I have to say something I most definitely will. When guys are touchy/feely and encroach on my space then I will be extremely vocal. I thought it sweet when Sanghoon feigned ignorance about asking you to twerk after your 5th date. Always maintain a dignified presence, irrespective of the situation - even if it means putting people in their place - and be your best self. Remember, if all else fails, like the Jamaicans say, "Me know you" and walk away with your head held high!!!

I think more videos should be about what Black Americans think of Koreans. Personally I try to respect other people's culture. I see so many videos about will koreans date or marry black people. In all honesty that' s a personal decision. It goes both ways. There are too many stereotypes interfering with people who would like to be in a relationship. Black girls no matter who you choose to date or marry make sure you are loved and valued as a woman. Never compromise who you are for another person. Your body type and skin color is such a small thing that separates you from another woman. I personally don't like to see black girls twerking so much in videos. It really is sexy and it takes skill. Some women go to far with twerking. I have seen little girls twerking. 😥
@beaandsanghoon4 жыл бұрын
This is such a good comment you are 100% right this is a great idea to do next. This goes both ways! On korean sites honestly it’s the same as it is for black women. Korean videos “would westerners date Koreans” this kind of thing. Absolutely no one should compromise and self love is so important, which is one of the messages in the video, because I don’t apply to their stereotypes of blacks and I don’t want to. In our BLM video we voiced what blacks living in korea are thinking about Koreans... we’ve been getting crazy hate and threats for it from Koreans, but that was the purpose of that video... to speak for the black community here which is why it’s in korean. Everything you’re saying is true but I think it’s important for each side to know what stereotypes they will be walking into beforehand, which is why when people asked for it we made this video. I personally don’t like to see girls twerking around, especially young girls like you said, but not sure if you watched the video thats what we talked about. That we have no intentions of twerking for people’s entertainment, and that this isn’t the image of a black girl. You’re so on point about this and we’ve also done a video on stereotypes people have about dating koreans because it does go both ways. We’re a new channel so we haven’t had time to film everything yet😭😭😭😭 trying!!! Thanks for this comment and great point!!! Love your positivity and message. Our community needs to be filled with more people like you!! Will definitely use your wonderful idea!

@@beaandsanghoon It's called African American vernacular. Alot of our dialect derives from the south. It's almost like when people say Carribeans or the Gullah Tribe speak broken English. It's not truly broken, but it's their language a way they communicate with one another. Same with African Americans. Unfortunately, our way of communicating is perceived as negative. Meanwhile everyone wants to imitate it without understanding the hx. So if I communicate in " Black English" it's only with family, especially my southern family members.

That's why we as black can't be really mad about their Asians families not accepting us straight way, because we are a new things to them, Internet and social medias made us black people travel more, explore the world, and take more risks, and some of this Asians countries never been in any others countries out of their own territories, because majority of those Asians who lived or traveled more in countries like Europe and America, will see us Black's in a total different nd respectful ways, I think the older generation is the one's who have more problems in accepting us black than the younger generation now. But @the same time their's parents shouldn't disrespect us, because they wouldn't like see our Black's families, disrespecting their sons and and daughters for being Asians. But the good thing about that stories is that the younger generations of every culture are no longer letting their parents interfering in their happiness anymore, they know what they want and they are standing by their choices no matter what, And only this way this barriers will be broken and they will be living happier with the choices they make. And you two made the right decision, because you two are being your true selves. And you guys are empowering other's, who are in the same situation as you 2, to live their true self.
