Here in the south (USA), we do a similar treat but call them fried sweet potatoes. And instead of oil for the syrup, you use a bit of butter. Otherwise, it’s exactly the same. And our sweet potatoes are definitely orange not white. But I think you can get a white variety. 🤔 Looked good! Makes me want some.
@lilsimba083 жыл бұрын
Ooouu imma, look that up😀 I'm from North Carolina and all I've ever had was candied yams, even though the are really sweet potatoes and not yams lol. All this talk about sweet potatoes have me ready for Thanksgiving next week.
@jlogsdon15403 жыл бұрын
@@lilsimba08 Allrecipes has a version of a fried sweet potato recipe but they call for 2 cups of brown sugar…that is beyond overkill. My mother-in-law used to make them using either white or brown sugar and she would just dust a little on the potatoes along with a dash of corn syrup. They were like candy. So good. I’m from Kentucky so howdy, neighbor. You’re not too far away! 😁🖐🏼 You have a beautiful state, by the way.

I thank God every day that I live 10 miles away from Super H Mart in Fairfax, Northern VA. 👍That said, this yummy sugar overload is a huge glycemic index boost, so have a cup of dry bitter melon tea before and after and you are good to go. I Settle for roasting small pieces of hot air fryer, baking them wrapped in foil buried in ash of camp fire with sugar glaze or agave syrup for drizzle and crushed hazel nuts,roast sesame seeds and (aaaahhhhh.....) crushed halvah for dipping. This is all FOOD PORN! It reminds me (yes, I've made these before) of Tsimis (many variation of recipes in Eastern Europe) made by my grandmother with a candied sugar glaze covering roasted pieces of crispy roast chicken, plump prunes and potato chunks. It was divine! I've seen recipes with carrots 🤮 and without protein - not surprising given just how hard it was to get ingredients behind The Iron Curtain. I LOVE just slow roasting Korean sweet potatoes/yams on their own. They have delicious sweetness to start.] I just caught drool running down my chin. Sigh...
